"Perfect house in a beautiful area"

This is a fabulous house quite unlike any other holiday house I have visited. The quality of the accommodation is superb and there are many pleasing touches - fine bed linen, a super 6 burner gas hob, excellent showers etc. However it is the quality of the light - which pours in from every direction - and the glorious and ever changing views which draw the eyes that sets it apart. It is a rare privilege to spend time here. If you love the beauty and wilderness of the North West Mayer Bhan will be a delight. ( Though if you are just looking for a truly fantastic place to stay that works too!)

"Eco-house with stunning views and a kitchen fit for any aspiring cook!"

I went to Mayar Bhan with my Father and Godparents, so much of our time was spent admiring the stunning views, cooking sumptuous meals and enjoying the company of those most dear. You will not be disappointed as the house is fully equipped with everything you could think of needing and a good few extras you wouldn't expect but will be glad were there. The aspect is amazing and there are so many little villages to visit as well as interesting places of interest both North towards Ullapool and around Wester Ross. The house would fit the needs of families and groups of friends - each bedroom is en-suite, so there is that little bit more luxury and privacy. I'll be back, for sure, and would love to see the area in winter, watching the world go by, with a glass of red in front of the wood burner. You will not be disappointed.

"One of the top 10 weekends"

A fantastic place, even in February. The accommodation is simply superb. The area is stunning and the people very helpful and friendly. We will be back again.

"Second stay, and just as impressed!"

This is our second stay at Mayar Bhan. The property offers exceptionally high standard accommodation with the most amazing views out across the bay towards Gruinard Island. The property has been built with Highland weather in mind, being incredibly wind tight, and very warm. The accommodation is very well equipped with everything you might need for your stay; we were welcomed with a bottle of wine, Tunnock's Caramel Wafers, and handwash/toilet rolls in every bathroom (very handy on arrival after a long journey!). The local area is stunningly beautiful, and the whole reason why you would travel to and holiday in such a remote area. If you enjoy the outdoors but are looking for very comfortable accommodation after long days in the hills, this is the perfect accommodation for you. Highly recommended!

The house is exceptional - although relatively modern it has character and a great 'feel'. The accommodation is of a very high standard - fantastic open plan downstairs with panoramic views across a quite magnificent vista - seascape and distant hills. Bedrooms are lovely - all ensuite and well appointed. Lots of outside space - shed, garage etc. and of course the location is stunning. If you want to leave the stresses and pressures of city living this is a must. This part of Scotland , although remote has a wealth of interesting places to see and visit if that's what you want. Communication and arrangements from Neil are exceptional - personal, not 'corporate'. The whole experience is unique and nourishment for the soul (sounds pretentious but its true!). You will find every last detail taken care of and I've no doubt that if anything was amiss/damaged etc. it would be dealt with immediately. Exceptional in every way.

"Fabulous family holiday house"

Mayar Bhan was absolutely perfect for our relaxing stay in the Highlands. The house has stunning views and we made good use of the log burner during the typically dodgy Scottish weather. There was plenty of room for our young children to play and I think the house would work just as well for a group of friends. We hope to be back in 2015.

We had a three night stay at Mayar Bhan in March. The house is fantastic. Everything is in great order. The kitchen is well equipt with everything you can possibly need, and plenty for six people. The setting of the house is great, with lovely views over the bay (especially the bedrooms upstairs) and close to walks and local beaches. The addition of the wood burning stove was great for the chilly evenings but 5 minutes of sun during the day and the house is super warm. Neil was great-lots of tips of where to eat etc though we used to live there so didnt use them, but great for folk who do not know the area. My one suggestion for improvement would be that some information added to the visitor folder, on the eco side of the house would be very interesting. It would have been good to learn more about it. All in all a great trip and stay-already looking to book again for later in the year.

"We were so impressed on our first visit that we had to return."

Mayar Bhan enjoys an outstanding location overlooking Gruinard Bay with views from the lounge window over 30 miles to Suilvan and way beyond to the mighty hills of the far North West. Closer to hand is An Teallach which is easily within cycling and walking distance. For the less energetic, or if the weather is inclement, there are numerous coastal and low level walks in the Glens; not forgetting the World Famous Inverewe Gardens which are open all year. Mayar Bhan is an extremely well appointed house which is warm and comfortable whatever the weather. It is immaculately clean and fresh and everything works and performs just as it should. However it is the attention to small details which I found impressive: for example there are a pair of insulated gauntlets provided to facilitate loading the woodstove; there is a customised 1:50,000 Ordnance Survey Map for guest use; and last but by no means least a drawer with board games and jigsaws to keep everyone entertained.
