“Great house, great location”

Reviewed 18 Dec 2015

Exceptional quality holiday home with every comfort, great views and a great location. Have visited three times for mountain biking and sight seeing trips and cannot recommend highly enough.

“Superb”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2015

This was our fourth stay at this beautiful house. Over the last 30 or so years we have booked a variety of houses in the north of Scotland each time hoping we would find our perfect place to stay. Well, we have found it, no need to look any further! All of the reviews given truly reflect what a fantastic place this is to stay. Mayar Bhan is exceptional, way beyond what one can expect in a holiday home. It is modern and airy, extremely comfortable, and always immaculately clean with high attention to detail, but even more than that it is a real haven of peace and calm set amongst the finest scenery you’ll ever find in Scotland. There are so many beautiful places to visit in the surrounding areas – but we are equally happy to just sit and enjoy the ever changing light over the stunning view of Gruinard Bay and the distant Summer Isles. Communications with the owner, Neil, are always excellent too. Take it from seasoned self-caterers, this one is pretty special!

“Superb, the view and the house are awesome”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2015

Had a weeks holiday at Mayar Bhan, took our bikes, Kayaks and walking boots with the intention of seeing what the weather brought. What a fantastic house, Neil's attention to detail was fantastic from the lists of suggested walks, eating places, house information etc etc. We arrived to an immaculate house, wood burning stove ready to light & a bottle of wine and tunics caramel logs, heaven! The view from the house is spectacular, it was amazing watching the subtle changes as the light faded. We loved the house so much that we ate in every night. Mellon Udrigle beach was a fantastic spot close to the house for Kayaking and walking. We will definitely be going back.

“Perfect house in a beautiful area”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2015

This is a fabulous house quite unlike any other holiday house I have visited. The quality of the accommodation is superb and there are many pleasing touches - fine bed linen, a super 6 burner gas hob, excellent showers etc. However it is the quality of the light - which pours in from every direction - and the glorious and ever changing views which draw the eyes that sets it apart. It is a rare privilege to spend time here. If you love the beauty and wilderness of the North West Mayer Bhan will be a delight. ( Though if you are just looking for a truly fantastic place to stay that works too!)

“Eco-house with stunning views and a kitchen fit for any aspiring cook!”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2015

I went to Mayar Bhan with my Father and Godparents, so much of our time was spent admiring the stunning views, cooking sumptuous meals and enjoying the company of those most dear. You will not be disappointed as the house is fully equipped with everything you could think of needing and a good few extras you wouldn't expect but will be glad were there. The aspect is amazing and there are so many little villages to visit as well as interesting places of interest both North towards Ullapool and around Wester Ross. The house would fit the needs of families and groups of friends - each bedroom is en-suite, so there is that little bit more luxury and privacy. I'll be back, for sure, and would love to see the area in winter, watching the world go by, with a glass of red in front of the wood burner. You will not be disappointed.

“One of the top 10 weekends”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2015

A fantastic place, even in February. The accommodation is simply superb. The area is stunning and the people very helpful and friendly. We will be back again.

“Second stay, and just as impressed!”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2014

This is our second stay at Mayar Bhan. The property offers exceptionally high standard accommodation with the most amazing views out across the bay towards Gruinard Island. The property has been built with Highland weather in mind, being incredibly wind tight, and very warm. The accommodation is very well equipped with everything you might need for your stay; we were welcomed with a bottle of wine, Tunnock's Caramel Wafers, and handwash/toilet rolls in every bathroom (very handy on arrival after a long journey!). The local area is stunningly beautiful, and the whole reason why you would travel to and holiday in such a remote area. If you enjoy the outdoors but are looking for very comfortable accommodation after long days in the hills, this is the perfect accommodation for you. Highly recommended!

“Perfection”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2014

The house is exceptional - although relatively modern it has character and a great 'feel'. The accommodation is of a very high standard - fantastic open plan downstairs with panoramic views across a quite magnificent vista - seascape and distant hills. Bedrooms are lovely - all ensuite and well appointed. Lots of outside space - shed, garage etc. and of course the location is stunning. If you want to leave the stresses and pressures of city living this is a must. This part of Scotland , although remote has a wealth of interesting places to see and visit if that's what you want. Communication and arrangements from Neil are exceptional - personal, not 'corporate'. The whole experience is unique and nourishment for the soul (sounds pretentious but its true!). You will find every last detail taken care of and I've no doubt that if anything was amiss/damaged etc. it would be dealt with immediately. Exceptional in every way.

“Fabulous family holiday house”

Reviewed 4 Jun 2014

Mayar Bhan was absolutely perfect for our relaxing stay in the Highlands. The house has stunning views and we made good use of the log burner during the typically dodgy Scottish weather. There was plenty of room for our young children to play and I think the house would work just as well for a group of friends. We hope to be back in 2015.
