The County Donegal region

The Inishowen Peninsula is in the most northerly part of Donegal. The fantastic scenery, the ever changing skies and their reflection on the water are a constant delight to watch.

The gentle hills and the rugged mountains are a pleasure for hill-walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

A great variety of beautiful sandy beaches for water sports and family fun.

Greencastle

The cottage is close to the fishing village of Greencastle. There are restaurants and traditional pubs, a Maritime Museum and Planetarium, a Norman Castle built in 1303 and a Martello tower dating from the Napoleonic Wars.

There is also a golf course, some lovely shore paths and a selection of small sheltered beaches. The ferry from Greencastle to Magilligan gives access to the north coast of Derry and Antrim and such famous sites as the Giant's Causeway.

The seaside town of Moville is about 10 minutes drive and offers shopping , restaurants, traditional pubs with Irish music and a variety of festivals throughout the year.

“A little spot of heaven”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2016

We returned to Whin Cottage 10 years after our first visit. We had a wonderful time then and the cottage was just as beautiful this time. The location is perfect for walks and runs (over the big hill behind). And the beaches are magical. Our kids (13 and 10) played on the rocks, in the rock pools, and even did a spot of fishing. The cottage is immaculately clean. And Alison's instructions are clear and ensure you feel welcome and at ease. We won't be leaving it 10 years before we are back again!

I'm delighted that you found the cottage was still so pleasing after 10 years, its reassuring to know that we are maintaining our standards. We look forward to welcoming you back again.

“The best holiday home we've ever stayed in”

Reviewed 30 Nov 2012

Thanks to Alison who provided a holiday home exactly as described - brilliant sea views and very close to the beach / lighthouse etc. The descriptions / photos don't do the house justice. It is everything we could have wished for and more. And the handover was very relaxed.

It's good of you to take the time to post the review. The feedback is very important to me and a great help to future visitors. I'm glad that you found the information accurate and enjoyed your stay in the cottage so much. Thanks
