“Excellent cottage made for a great few days away”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2016

We recently stayed at Harrow cottage with my 14 month year old and some family. Having read lots of reviews beforehand the cottage was as we expected, very clean and tidy and had everything we needed for our stay. The welcome pack was a fantastic touch, bread, milk, cereal, homemade jam and juice as well as plenty of coffee ( ground and instant) sugar and tea. At our request a stairgate was provided and fitted for our arrival, I could have included a high chair but having used them at other cottages was worried it might be a bit well used and grubby, however the cottage has an ikea high chair ( same as the one we bought with us!) so can be easily washed down and kept clean so note to any other parents, high chair is good quality. Very cosy we enjoyed playing games provided in the evenings. The cottage is also in a great location for the monsal trail, we walked to it accidentally one morning past the playground and through some houses, it's marked footpath so fairly easy to find. We also drove to the monsal head hotel which was just a few minutes down the road. Well worth a visit for views of the viaduct and surrounding area. We ate at the White lion one lunchtime and can highly recommend it, food was fantastic, two of our party members known for being a little fussy said it was the best meal they had in a long time. It was also very child friendly, the owner Libby bought out some toys to keep our little one entertained and all in all a great experience overall. This is definitely a touch above cottages we have stayed in before because of the attention to detail paid to everything. Point to note is that the wifi is pretty poor, had to keep our phones in one corner to pick up signal. I quite like this though as it meant people weren't stuck on technology all the time.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review Jennifer. I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay, we do like to ensure the little ones are taken care of (happy children equals happy parents!). Your point re the Wifi has been taken care of and we have now installed new Wifi!! Many thanks, Libby
