The Lake Como region
Lake Como is one of the most romantic and scenic lakes in the world. Set in the mountains of northern Italy, with a near perfect Mediterranean climate, it is the third largest lake in Italy and one of the deepest in Europe, reaching 656 ft in depth. With its ancient history, stunning scenery, gardens and quaint villages, there are many discoveries to be made. Visit the beautiful villa's: Balbianello in Lenno, Melzi in Bellagio, Carlotta in Tremezzo; take the boat and criss-cross the lake and stop at Bellagio or Gravedona; invite yourself to a "chique" aperative at Villa d'Este in Cernobbio or a meal at the Golfclub in Menaggio where you might sit near to the rich and beautiful ( football players or movie stars). For the more active, the lake offers hiking and biking in the valleys or to the high Alps in St. Moritz, sailing, surfing and swimming in the lake ( clear and clean).
Lake Como is conveniently located close to three international airports as well as the city of Milan, ideal for a day trip to indulge in shopping on the famous via Montenapoleone or visit its historical landmarks and art-works such as the Duomo, La Scala or Da Vinci’s famous “Last Dinner”.
Gravedona has a wide sandy beach on the lake and a waterfront lido with two swimming pools (open in summer only). A lovely 3km waterfront promenade and cycling path runs south to the picturesque resort town of Dongo where motor/sailing boat rentals can be arranged for an excursion on the lake.
Gravedona Sport Centre is located at a walking distance from the house and includes 3 tennis courts (one indoor), 2 football pitches with race-course and a well-known sailing centre/school.
Other activities along the northern end of the Lake include windsurfing, kite surfing, water skiing, wake boarding and jet-skying, canoeing and kayaking, chartered yacht hire, cycling hiking, parachuting and paragliding, horse riding, quad biking and golf.

"Well equipped villa in great location"
We really enjoyed our stay at La Casa sul Lario which is on the shore front at Gravedona. The house is very comfortable with good facilities and was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. We were greeted by Fosca and her mother; Fosca was a great help during our stay. Gravedona seems to be less 'touristy' than other villages on the lake which suited us very well. We ate at a couple of good restaurants in Gravedona and also used the local chef recommended by the villa's owner, Rudy; the food was delicious. We used the ferry service and also rented boats from the nearby Donga (walking distance along the lake shore) to visit other villages on the lake. We would also recommend driving up into the villages in the mountains for walking and/or lunch.

"Beautifully appointed house with fantastic views of Lake Como"
This house dates from 1600 and has been tastefully restored with a mixture of old and new furniture and fittings. The roof terrace - a sun trap in the mornings - is particularly stunning. Our party of 7 was very comfortable and appreciated the welcome from the owners' representatives who showed us how everything worked - we appreciated the gift of a huge fruit bowl on arrival. Gravedona is a charming town with historic churches, good restaurants, a market and supermarket in walking distance. The landing stage for the regular boat services to Ballagio, Como and other lakeside villages is very close. We also explored nearby mountain roads and villages for views and walks. The owners throughout, from initial enquiry onwards, we're helpful and efficient. They have thought about, and provided, everything you could possible need. For our size of party and the overall quality, we thought the rental for one week was good value. We thoroughly recommend this house and can't wait until we can return!

I will just sum everything up in couple of points: - extremely accomodating owner Rudy that goes beyon everything in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible - very comfy and hi-tech villa - great location, first lane from the lake; many cafes around All was great. "PERFECT HOUSE, HEAVENLY VIEWS, CHARMING TOWN."
Great views from every room of the widest part of the lake, historic house impeccably and lavishly restored in a quiet, restful town. Steps from good restaurants and ferries. Great house for our extended family. Owner could not be more accommodating.
