A 10 minute walk will bring you to our famous Princes Street and its gardens. Many of the museums, galleries and attractions in Edinburgh city centre and the Royal Mile are also an easy stroll away. The apartment is located in a quiet part of the building, away from the bustle of the main street. It is part of a gated community, with security entry.

The comfortable apartment is furnished to a high standard and comprises of a spacious living room open plan to a fitted kitchen, a bedroom with a king sized bed (queen size in USA) and a shower room. This apartment suits small families, groups of friends, couples, singles on business and people visiting students. Can sleep up to 3 with the third person sleeping on the large sofa bed.

Arrival is normally after 3.00 and check out by 11.00 although where other guest bookings permit, these times can be flexible.

A stylish and modern room apartment in a superb central location. The living room is bright and spacious with a comfortable sofa which seats two plus an armchair for a third person. The dining table is situated in front of a large, mullion paned window from where you can look out to the top of the Royal Mile while eating. Seating for three is provided. There is a flat screen TV with Freeview and a DVD player. Free Wifi is available. A small selection of novels and tourist guides are provided for the use of guests. Peaceful and quiet, a perfect place to relax after a day's sightseeing.

The new kitchen is a open plan to the living room.. It is well equipped, with a wide range of good quality utensils and equipment including cooker, hob, fridge, washing machine/dryer, cafetiere and microwave plus all the usual crockery and utensils you would expect. In the cupboards, you will find tea, coffee, sugar, salt, etc.

The bedroom is light and airy with a very comfortable king sized bed (USA queen size). There is a wardrobe, with generous storage space and a hairdryer is also provided. The curtains have black out linings. A third person can sleep on the sofa bed which at 112 cm wide, is wider than the average single bed.

There is a new and modern bathroom which has a good shower, a toilet, and a wash-hand basin.

A travel cot/high chair are available free upon request.

Due to the layout of the building which is built into a hillside, you enter on the third floor and ascend two floors to the apartment on the fifth.

Further details outdoors

The apartment block entrance is through a security coded gate. There are small communal gardens in the centre of the block which are attractive and well maintained. A good supermarket is 50m away, and there are cafes, restaurants and bars in abundance nearby.

As the apartment is set to the back of the block it is very quiet, even at busy times. The one exception is when the Tattoo is on for 3 weeks of the year. Then you will hear the Tattoo and can enjoy the end of Tattoo fireworks at 10.30 every week night and midnight on Saturdays.

Parking can be obtained at nearby public car parks. Public transport links are close by and very good.

The Edinburgh region

Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful and fascinating cities in the world; nicknamed "Athens of the North" . Edinburgh is unique in that it has two complete mountains in its centre and beautiful gardens in the main street, plus it has the sea to the North and the Pentland Hills on the South so the views are spectacular all around. There is much to see and do, from shopping to walking hills so remote that you can believe you are in the Highlands.

Within Edinburgh there are historical "closes" and even an underground street, as well as museums, galleries, parks, theatres, cinemas and a multitude of places to dine from a porridge and buffalo burgers in the Farmers Market to cuisine from almost every nationality in the world. Edinburgh Castle is a must for every tourist and the apartment will remind you every day that you are just under the Castle.

The apartment is in the The Grassmarket which is an area steeped in history and has long been a place of entertainment from medieval times (entertainment was of the gruesome variety) to the present day. The Royal Mile starts at Edinburgh Castle and leads down to the Royal Palace of Holyrood and the stunning new Scottish Parliament building. A large peaceful park, the Meadows, is only a few minutes walk away.

There is a large 24 hour, well lit multi-storey car park only 150m away at King Stable's Road.

Grassmarket

The apartment is in Edinburgh's historic Grassmarket. This large open square was the scene of public hangings, the Porteous Riots and the haunt of the notorious body snatchers, Burke and Hare. There is a wonderful selection of boutique shops, pubs and restaurants on your doorstep and it is only a three-minute walk to the Edinburgh Royal Mile. During the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe this lively area overflows with street performers, musicians and special events.

Less than ten minutes walk away are three cinemas including the Cameo and the Filmhouse plus three theatres, the Traverse Theatre, the Royal Lyceum Theatre and the King's Theatre. The apartment is beside the Edinburgh College of Art and is convenient for many parts of Edinburgh University. Many public buses are within a 5 minute walk for access to the rest of the city.

The Royal Mile is only a few minutes away for exploring all the haunts from Edinburgh Castle at the top to the Palace of Holyrood at the bottom.
