Getting around

The nearest bus-stop is in Grasmere village 1km away. It is a level 10min walk alongside fields, woods and lake. There is an hourly bus service (555) from Keswick to Lancaster via Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere and Kendal. The X55 is an open top service running every 1/2 hr from Grasmere to Windermere via Bowness, from May to late October. Both buses connect directly with the train station and Ferry landings for train/boat trips. Windermere train station connects with Oxenholme mainline railway London to Glasgow.

Interaction with guest

We are usually around if help is needed with anything. Keys are available via a key safe near the apartment entrance. Access codes for the electric gates and door entry are given with confirmation of booking. Inside the apartment there are many maps and leaflets with walks, tours and places of local interest along with restaurants etc. We are happy to advise or guide guests if they feel the need.

“A relaxing retreat”

We are regular visitors to the Lake District for a day out walking, but on this occasion we planned to bring our friends as a surprise for the weekend and have somewhere special to relax and enjoy the scenery. We wanted it to be perfect for them and we weren’t disappointed! To wake up in the morning to those views was just wonderful! Such a warm, cosy place with literally everything you need to make it feel like home from home, so lovely and clean. We felt immediately relaxed. Had a nice welcome from Nick and was lovely to have a welcome pack waiting for us. The apartment is near enough to the village to have a walk and enjoy the atmosphere of Grasmere and yet far enough away to feel away from it all. Now that we’ve stayed here I think the days of popping up to the beautiful Lakes for the day are in the past!

“Fabulous lake view apartment.”

A 10 minute walk from the centre of Grasmere with its shops and restaurants. The apartment is very peaceful and relaxing. The view from the decking is beautiful even in the rain - we had plenty of rain. It’s well equipped with two bedrooms and two ensuite bathrooms, good WiFi, TV, board games. Nick and Polly were always available and helpful. Lots of walks nearby without needing to use a car. Close to bus. Boat rental very nearby. We enjoyed using the swimming pool and sauna in the village. We ate out at a few restaurants in the village would recommend Lewis’ Bistro and Tweedies Bar. All in all a restful break. Wish the weather would have been better but the apartment more than compensated for the bad weather.

“Excellent place to stay with superb views”

Very comfortable place to stay with an extremely well equipped kitchen. There was even a rolling pin and weighing scales for baking on a rainy day! The sofas and chairs were designed for relaxing in, which isn't always the case is a rental property. The view was unbeatable. We had mixed weather -mainly fine and managed to get a few good walks in.

“Everything we had hoped for and more!”

Lovely cosy apartment with superb views of Grasmere lake and the surrounding mountains. Set in a quite location away from the hustle and bustle of Grasmere village, but close enough to walk to for its amenities. Both bedrooms have en-suite facilities, which is always a bonus. The Lounge, kitchen diner is well equipped and very comfortable. The driveway is rather steep but a parking space is available at the bottom of the dive which was perfectly adequate for us. Lastly, although the apartment is attached to the owners property they did not bother us at all unless we asked for their help, having said that they were very friendly and informative. Sadly the summer dates that we wanted were already booked, but we cant wait for our return trip next November.

what can i say this is the perfect retreat in the lakes, ideally situated in Grasmere great for local walks easy to get in to village but far enough away to be quiet.. amazing view over the lake. inside great kitchen diner / lounge bedroom 1 perfect with en-suite v comfortable bed lovely second bathroom with a great shower. Nick and Polly are lovely and cant do enough to help. loved the place so much that after i proposed we sorted out having our honeymoon there next year.. but couldn't wait a whole year to go back so have been back since and booked in for march next year too.

“Beautiful holiday cottage in a fabulous location.”

Silver Fell is a beautiful holiday cottage and the location is just fabulous. Shame we didn’t have better weather but we still managed a decent walk every day apart from Sunday, all on the door-step.
