“lovely place to stay”
we loved our 4 nights stay. It was a fabulous base for us exploring Cumbria. The views are spectacular and the apartment is very well equipped with everything you will need. A lovely gift of wine and biscuits on arrival and the hosts are available to call should you need anything. Beautiful gardens and the offer of using any of the veg that is ready in from the veg patch (we enjoyed some gorgeous tomatoes thanks!) Recommend this place and looking forward to returning.
Owner's reply: We are so pleased you had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the flat and gardens and views. Thank you very much for your kind and perfect review. Should have taken an onion too! Please do return and hope to see you next time.
I'd highly recommend this place to stay; it's comfortable, clean, has great views and is well located as a base for visiting the Lakes. You're really close to Lake Windermere and not … More
Owner's reply: Thank you for your recommendations and review. Great to hear you explored all that the Lakes and Bay area has to offer. Cannot argue about the pies from Higginsons, the best!!! Thank you again and please come again.
“Gorgeous 'Garden' Cottage”
My husband and I stayed in the Garden Cottage for a week and it was absolutely perfect. As a base for a weeks cycling, hiking and running it was just perfect. (Although this isn't mandatory). The cottage has absolutely everything you need as a home from home. For a stunning view across the bay this is just ideal. The owners are more than accommodating and being able to utilise the gardens of the house is an added bonus. We would highly recommend this as a wonderful cottage for a break in Grange-Over-Sands. In relation to Grange-Over-Sands itself it is a very pleasant and welcoming town. Enjoy a lovely walk along the promenade. There are ample coffee shops and we enjoyed a lovely afternoon cuppa in a newly opened coffee shop near the Tesco. A visit to the chip shop is a must as is the local bakery just down the road. Please don't miss the opportunity to buy great food from Higginsons Butchers, their pies and peppercorn muffins are a must. The Hazelmere bakery is good for a lovely light lunch. If you have time, jump on the train to Arnside (6min journey,£2.40 return) and walk around the bay and up to Arnside Knott. Also make sure you visit Cartmel approx a 25min walk from the cottage. Enjoy the priory, local cheeses from the cheese shop, cartmel beers from the brewery but most importantly the cartmel puddings from.the village shop. Overall a great week, perfect cottage in a perfect location for access to windermere and the south lakes. We will go back.
Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your outstanding review! You've done everything we love to do! We are glad you experienced and did all the wonderful things the local area has to offer. so pleased you've had a good holiday and enjoyed your stay at our flat. Look forward to your next visit!

Just returned from 3 night break in The Garden Flat at The Chalet. Lovely views of Morecambe Bay. The house had beautiful gardens which guests are free to explore and enjoy. The flat was roomy enough for the two of us and had amenities we needed. Some of the decor is looking tired but the flat was clean. The TV reception was intermittent. A small nest of tables would be useful in the lounge. The property is up the hillside so you need to be fit walking up the steep road or path. The main downside from our point of view was noise from guests in the studio above us. We feel this is due to the house design itself not that the guests themselves were being a nuisance! Good value for money for a short break in a lovely location.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your review and comments which we take on board. Sorry about the TV, not sure why it was intermittent but we didn't know of this until now so we shall test it, could be the storms that blew the wifi off a few weeks ago! We are glad you enjoyed the views and gardens and your overall stay. Thank you.
“Not quiet, not peaceful.”
The noise from the flat above was so bad, we left on our 3rd day (of 14). You can hear kitchen drawers, chairs scraping and every footstep acts like a drumstick, making the whole ceiling boom. The fla… More
Owner's reply: We are very sorry, once more, for your experience. As mentioned when we spoke, the guests in the flat above had many visitors and it was really unfortunate they were so noisy ruining your stay. In over ten years, we haven't had such a complaint as you can see from all the reviews. The flat is not part of a block of flats, it is indeed a conversion as an annex to the house and the Chalet is a 1920s detached house with apartments intergal within its four walls, in a stunning location, views and quiet spot. We hope readers see this complaint see that it is nothing to do with the flat or its location, facilities and views but noisy guests which sadly we have little control over. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Scotland and our apologies once more.
