Very Good

“Cottage pretty neat but the proprietor puts it over the top!”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2012

First-the cottage is in a little village between Utah and Omaha beaches so it's off the beaten path, small, quaint, friendly people. The cottage itself has plenty of room, a well-stocked kitchen, and within walking distance of some little places to get bread, etc. Nice little side patio with tree overhang, pretty quiet area. Louise is the perfect host-a delightful personality, very hospitable-walked us into the village and sat around drinking wine with us when we first arrived. She knew when to be available, sometimes magically appearing when we needed her, yet she is not at all intrusive. She even had a fire prepared for us one night when we went out to dinner and it got a little chilly that night. We would rebook here in an instant the next time we're in the area! The only even-close-to-negative was the internet connection- I told Louise she does need to get a booster-it's pretty weak. :)

“Great house in a lovely location for a relaxing break”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2012

We stayed at Mirabelle last October for a short half term break. The house met our expectations and more - there is a fabulous log fire and a stunning new bathroom. Louise is a warm and welcoming host - when we visited she was having her kitchen and bathroom re-done and we felt guilty that she was living in somewhat primitive condiitons. Lots to see and do in the area, supermarkets close by and restaurants within easy walking distance. Would highly recommend the property as a really comfortable location for either a summer holiday or an Autumn/Winter break.

“what a great place to stay”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2012

The owner Louise, was very helpful and informative regarding the rental of her property and also for points of interest, shopping, and restaurants nearby. Our stay at this quaint and well stocked stone Gite,Mirabelle , was a very memorable experience. We enjoyed cooking many meals in the well equipped kitchen. The property is centrally located to areas of interest in the region. We were so impressed with the property we intend to visit again next year.

“Young Boys trip”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2012

This is the second time we have visited Mirabelle and it wont be the last.. This time it was the boys of some of the members of a group of friends who I take over to visit D Day sites. The Old Boys having been to Mirabelle previously. The house is perfectly sited for this purpose, being between Omaha and Utah Beaches and not far from Pointe Du Hoc. Mirabelle is a delightful house in Maisy, a quiet area on the outskirts of Grandcamp. It is also the site of the Maisy battery which was uncovered a few years ago. The Grand Randonnee coastal footpath runs nearby and there are other walks in the area, There is also a nature reserve on the Douvre. There is a bar in the village, but it is only a short distance to Grandcamp with its fishing harbour, cafes, supermarket etc. Mirabelle itself is a perfect size for a small group and contains a fabulous fireplace in its open plan ground floor, which extends through french doors onto a great private outdoor patio for BBQ's. The ground floor, with its TV/DVD and kitchen/dining area, is great for enjoying a good meal and a glass or two whilst reminiscing about the days events. Finally a word for Louise the owner. She has always been most helpful to us and has made our stays a pleasure. Having visited many properties around the D Day sites over the years, this is one of the best (whether or not you are going for WW2 reasons or otherwise).
