“Third visit to this fantastic property”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2018

This was our third visit to this fantastic property and once again it proved absolutely perfect for our party of 14 adults. It is a great house with all you need for a large group. Set in stunning surroundings of olive and almond groves and a great view of the mountains and sky which becomes magical at night the n the sun goes down and the starts and Planets pop into view. This year we were treated to an amazing electric storm which was very exciting to watch from the safety and comfort of the covered terrace! Again we cannot recommend this property highly enough for a large group wishing to holiday together but wanting their own space as well. Comfortable bedrooms most with own shower room. Many outdoor and indoor spaces. A highlight for our group is the full size swimming pool with gorgeous clean clear water and plenty of sun beds and shade if you require it. As self caterers there are three kitchens including one outside to cook in and enjoy whilst sampling the local beers and wines. We will be back!

“Brilliant place to stay. Great holiday!”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2018

Finca el Almendrillo is a perfect holiday villa for a large group. It is well laid out and there is plenty of space for everyone to be together and it is also easy to find a balcony or shady spot or the hammock for some quiet time to yourself. The bedrooms are well laid out with many rooms interleading making it the perfect house for families with younger children. There are lots of bathrooms, several ensuite and those that are not (en suite) are conveniently located for everyone else. The kitchen is well equipped and a good central meeting place and there are several different places to eat outside. The pool is fantastic. Plenty of space around the pool to accommodate both sun worshippers and shade lovers alike. The pool itself is also a great size for swimming lengths, but equally good for pool games too. Mike and his manager Sian (in Spain) were really helpful and if we needed anything, they were quick to respond and everything worked very smoothly. Lots of things to do around and about, so much choice, but there is a very helpful folder with all the information you could need. I would definitely recommend Almendrillo to friends and family and hope to return in the not too distant future.

“Wonderful week at amazing Almendrillo”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2018

Almendrillo was the most perfect setting for our 3 generation family holiday. The spacious and very well equipped finca provided superb accommodation for four families and the views from the terraces were breathtaking. The pool, with its shady terrace, was by far and away the biggest pool we have ever had with a holiday villa and provided hours of fun for everyone, ages 6 to 70+. The owner, Mike, was extremely helpful and responded immediately to any and all communications from me. He also put me in touch with Ian and Diana who came up to the finca each evening and cooked delicious 3 course Mediterranean meals for us - after feeding the children first! I would love to return to the magical El Almendrillo and would not hesitate to recommend it to any large family group.

“Magical week in Andalusia”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2018

Our week at Finca el Almendrillo could not have been better. It's hard to know where to start with the compliments. Perhaps with the views: One could sit on any of several beautifully furnished terraces and simply gaze out for hours! The distant sound of the farm machinery continuously tilling around the olive trees was as soothing as the vista from the terrace, and lazing about the pool. The house is commodious, well-equipped, and very comfortable. Mike is a great communicator--though we had little need for communication, as all house instructions were clearly presented in advance. We had 7 days of perfect weather. The kitchen easily accommodates a group who like cooking together. For us, it also accommodated Ian and Diana, who prepared a 4-course regionally-inspired meal, and even gave us some of the recipes. We found Antonio’s (bar and restaurant in Fuente del Conde) to be a great resource, and stopped there almost daily for a coffee, a snack, or a gin and tonic. The walk down and back up allowed us to justify it all! Our longest day trip was to Granada and the Alhambra. Otherwise we had a wonderful time meandering through the smaller nearby cities: Antequera, Iznahar, and Rute. We never know where our next adventure will be; there is always the desire to try someplace new. We were so enchanted with Finca el Almendrillo, however, that we are actually considering booking again for next year. I would heartily recommend this house to anyone considering a journey to southern Spain.

“Fantastic holiday house in great setting for large group of adults and children”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2018

We were a group of 4 families comprising 8 adults and 10 children (ages 9 - 14) and stayed for a wonderful week at Finca Almendrillo in August. We had a fantastic time. The location was great, it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere as there as the views were amazing being perched on top of a hill overlooking olive groves. There were no neighbours to worry about disturbing if we made a noise. We had great communication from Mike the owner in advance with directions to find the Finca and local information regarding things to do and shopping which was greatly appreciated. We really enjoyed the large pool (having a shower and toilet in the pool enclosure was very handy) and spent hours playing games in the water, relaxing in the many comfortable sitting areas around the grounds and shooting star spotting at night. We ate in most nights all coming together in the courtyard and made good use of the outdoor kitchen and barbeque. We loved it there so much that we didn't leave often but did make it to the lake at Iznajar for pedalo fun, to Granada and to the local Antonio's taverna to eat one evening. All in all we'd definitely recommend FInca Almendrillo as a wonderful holiday destination

“Stunning family venue for holiday and wedding”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2018

First off Finca el Almendrillo is amazing! We have just returned from our second trip there and from our wedding which we held there in June. It is the most beautiful venue, the views are mesmerising and the huge pool kept the kids (and adults entertained all week). We had envisaged doing lots of day trips but nobody wanted to leave the Finca. For kids they had the pool, lots of space to run about and a whole room of toys to entertain them when they wanted to get out of the sun and play in the shade for a bit. For the parents it was the first holiday (with young kids) that we felt really relaxed. The whole place is so secure that you could let the kids just run around and be out of your sight because you knew it was so safe. It is fully equipped for children and everything has been thought of from cots to baby baths to bikes. We pre-ordered our drinks before we arrived there so we already had all the soft drinks, coffee, milk, water and wine at the Finca which was brilliant as we didn’t need to pack up our cars with it all. There is also an option to order kegs of beer which we did and I think safe to say was one of the favourite things of the week for everyone. It meant you could go and pour yourself a cold beer at any time and it was hugely popular especially when we had some very hot days! As a wedding venue it was perfect, we had a small, laid back wedding but the views, beautiful courtyard and the open space meant that the kids could run about, the babies could sleep under the huge tree and the adults could enjoy their sangria in the Spanish sunshine. We had exceptional caterers Wherever Next to come in and cater for the wedding who will also come in and cater for evenings if you fancied treating yourself one night. They also suggested a local Spanish guitarist and flamenco dancer who came in and got everyone, adults and children alike up dancing which was lots of fun! It really was such a special day and the venue made it extra special. When it was time to leave, we had tears from children (and a few grown men!) we just had the most fantastic time and were very sad to go. Even before we left we had decided to come back next year and so we have just booked again. It is so perfect for families that I can see us coming back years to come and maybe one time we will actually get round to leaving the Finca to explore the local area! If you are hesitating about booking this venue, just book it! You will not be disappointed it is wonderful and you will love it. From babies to grandparents it is equipped for everyone and you will have a brilliant holiday.

“Beautiful Finca el Almendrillo”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2018

Finca el Almendrillo is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. Set in the middle of the Granada mountains- it has everything you need for the most perfect holiday. The views are just amazing, something from a postcard! The villa itself is gorgeous, so clean and well looked after. We were so lucky to have our wedding at Finca el Almendrillo and it truly attributed to it being such a magical day! The courtyard is perfect for a wedding or any party in fact. If you need a peaceful, tranquil and beautiful holiday that is suitable for all ages then I would 100% recommend this villa. Without a doubt we will be going back to stay! It is a place that will remain close to our hearts forever.

“The magic of southern Spain captured at Finca El Alemendrillo”

Reviewed 16 May 2018

Where do you find a place in southern Spain that will comfortably accomodate six couples privately who have done extensive travelling together and enjoyed some out standing vacation locations and experiences? From our initial research there are not too many! How very fortunate we were to find a desired location the calibre of El Almendrillo! This authentic, modernized original estate home is located at the end of a very private twisting lane ( mind the odd chicken, dog or pheasant) a few kilometers from the excellent major area highways. The white stone walls and large original, wooden entry swing doors open into totally private comfortable spaces that set you almost into another world. The large, well kept gardens and grounds are simply delightful. We were warmthy welcomed by a charming knowledgeable off site manager who was most helpful and thorough regarding the house and the wonders of the area. For any issue she was but a call or short drive away. We also enjoyed some absolutely delicious in house meals meticulously prepared by an area couple with extensive cooking skills! The views are simply outstanding ! From the comfortable well furnished patios you experience an absolutely spectacular view across the olive grove covered valley and hills as far as the eye can see. Enjoy your morning coffee as the sun comes over the mountains to the far east. Have lunch and afternoon cocktails around the stunningly large pool or south facing recessed patio again with uninterupted south facing vistas. Then in time, enjoy dinner under the stars and the fading colours of the setting sun. The well equipped kitchen and BBQ area off the large fully enclosed courtyard makes meal preparation a most pleasant experince for those so inclined. All needs are provided. Modern bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities were well used by all after our long days and hikes around area trails. Anyone for pool, ping pong, cards or board games along with a second floor TV room with an outdoor patio over looking the valley? With all the isolated spaces one could easily slip away for a quiet read, wi fi exchange or a welcome siesta. All is there for your enjoyment and fun. The small local village, a short drive away is not only charming but has a small store for general needs. There is also a lively restaurant/bar with very good food and a most enthusiastic owner who adds greatly to the atmosphere and enjoyment. Our goal was to make trips to the numberous historic and cultural sites within an hour and a half or so driving. El Almendrillo was an ideal location to easily access the rich cultural history and beauty of nearby white villages and the majestic wonders of cities like Cordoba, Granada etc. Seville was a favourite for many as it was for Columbus! Day trips to the spectacular south coast through the Sierra Nevada Mountains then back to the quiet "homey" splendor of El Almendrillo all made for lasting memories! If south central rural Spain is in your travel plans, and it should be, make sure you have El Almendrillo on your "go to" list. You and those with you will love it too !

“Beautiful property in the most tranquil of locations”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2017

The property is incredible. It is a beautifully done up old farmhouse with lots of quirky old features. The pool is huge and has a beautiful view out over the mountains. You feel completely away from the world (though is close enough to all your basic amenities, and just a short drive from the nearest village) - it is a wonderfully peaceful place. Our hosts were so helpful before and during the trip, sending advice on all sorts of issues - from the best restaurants and sites to visit, to tips on which supermarkets best catered to specific dietery requirements. We didn't want to leave this place - I don't think I've ever had a more relaxing holiday.

“Fabulous Property in Amazing Location”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2017

Our party of 14 old school friends have enjoyed holidays together for a number of years and so fantastic was last year at El Almendrillo that there was a unanimous vote for a return visit, the first time this has ever happened! On arrival some were heard to say we are home!!! Once again the lovely house and grounds exceeded our expectations. In fact we all felt it to be even better than last year. Situated up high with the most amazing views all around and so many places to sit including the hammock!! The swimming pool is just the best!! A full sized pool with really bright clear clean water and so well maintained. There are plenty of comfortable sun loungers and a covered area for shade. Having a poolside shower and toilet was so convenient - not having to pop back to the house! Toni and team had done a brilliant cleaning job ready for our arrival and the house looked great. The two interior large and airy kitchens are well equipped with large pots and pans and everything else one might need. In addition this house has an amazing outside kitchen with hob, oven and BBQ. Fantastic for cooking outside especially as the very coveted chilled beer barrel was situated in that area! Indeed thanks to Sian for arranging the beer kegs, various wines and water. This made it so much easier for us to plan our food shopping in the various food markets in nearby villages and the good supermarkets within a 30min drive. We used Mercadona in Rute. Another great thing about El Almendrillo is the variety of bedrooms and bathrooms which makes it so easy to allocate rooms to the right people in a large party. Also the property has plenty of places where you can go and sit if you want some privacy, to read or just enjoy the views. The house stays lovely and cool as it has really thick walls and windows that you shutter during the day. Very comfortable for sleeping. Down the hill in the village you will get an excellent gin and tonic at Antonio's, good food and friendly service. We have to mention the view from the balcony at sunset, absolutely amazing. As the sun goes down the stars start to wink into place and when completely dark the sight of the Milky Way will simply take your breath away. There is absolute darkness. All you can see are stars and the odd shooting star!! What more can I say. We had a brilliant week in this fabulous property and would fully recommend it.
