The Old Town
A visit to Gradoli can not start it from its historical center that has as its starting point the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, where you can admire the fountain zone with masks . From here through the arch , known as " Ciuchini " , where was the ancient gateway to the village , you enter the city center. On the right we can see the ancient palaces including the rectory , the old town hall and the home of Horatio Romano , accounting Farnese , whose name is still well visible above the old site.
Down the street is the small Church of St. Michael the Archangel, probably already existed in 1118 at the time of the Synod of the Val di Lago
Going the way of the ancient castle you enter what was the fortified part of the country. Here we find what remains of the Church of St. John the Beheaded , which with its hospital for the poor and Oratorio della Pietà , is one of the oldest Gradoli .
Passing an arc will enter a typically Renaissance square , where we can admire Palazzo Galeotti , who has built beautiful frescoes, medieval and ancient cistern . At the bottom of the square you can admire the beautiful Collegiate Church of St. Mary Magdalene , which is connected to the palace by the ancient rectory once utlizzata by followers of Lucy Filippini .
On the left side , on the ground floor of the majestic Palazzo Farnese , there is the Church of St. Philip Blacks , consecrated in 1718.
Across the square is the Church of San Pietro in Vinculis , known as " the Madonna" , which is considered rural in 1600 as out of the country then located within the walls.
The Church of San Rocco is instead located in the ascent from the bottom part of the square which was built by the people who survived the plague .
Leaving the country for the " old road" and crossed the hill , here is the small church of S. Egidio , where Mass is celebrated every 1st of September.
Taking instead the Arco di San Vittore you come to a hill where the Church of San Vittore attached with a small hermitage . Popular tradition says that it was built as a votive offering in the place where the Saracens would have been blocked by the fog , thus saving the citizens of Gradoli . To commemorate the event May 14 there is a procession that leaves the country with the relics of St. Victor and reach the church where a mass is celebrated in song.
