Description

The cottage is opposite the owner's house and consists of two double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large living room with double sofa bed and cooking area. The living area opens onto a patio and pergola and the downstairs bedroom also opens onto a small patio. There is access for the disabled and the garden is entirely fenced in and ideal for families, being perfectly safe for small children. There is an above ground swimming pool, 5.5 metres in diameter and about 1 metre deep, suitable for children but which can be enjoyed by the whole family. For those who do not need the whole cottage, it can be divided into two separate units. The downstairs bedroom can be closed off to form an independent studio flat with kitchenette, while the upstairs bedroom and the downstairs living area with double sofa bed form an apartment sleeping up to 4. Please note that the pool is in use from June 15 to September 15 weather permitting.

Getting around

Wine tastings at local wineries are possible, an outing in the woods searching for truffles with a local expert (subject to seasonal and weather conditions), or a day at the hot spring baths of which there are several in the area, either transformed into a swimming pool or the natural pools in the coungtryside. Cooking classes are also available on request

The owner is always on hand, either personally or an English-speaking family member, in order to ensure that guests enjoy a trouble-free stay and have a contact should any problem arise. Help over anything is willingly given if asked for but guests always have the space to "do their own thing"!

“Beautiful setting in Tuscan countryside near Montepulciano”

We rented the main living area of this apartment with a loft bedroom upstairs. It's in a lovely setting in the Tuscan countryside surrounded by vineyards and beautiful scenery. It is so peaceful and quiet; a nice respite after a more hectic visit to Florence. Laura was an excellent host making sure we had everything we needed. The apartment was very clean and lovely inside with exposed beams in the ceiling and tastefully decorated. The patio in the back was a relaxing to sit and view the surrounding landscape. If we visit Tuscany again we will be certain to stay here again.

It was great staying here! We found a nice little place to feel at home. The cottage is lovely furnished, very clean and has everything we needed for the week (including fast heating for some rainy and cold evenings (20minutes was enough to get the humid air out!) and free Wi-Fi, thats working perfectly and fast). We really loved sitting in the beautiful garden full of roses, looking over the wine-yards and listening to all the birds (also nightingales!!!). The cottage is set in a great surrounding - Tuscany like in a picture book! Laura was a perfect host. We felt very welcomed, we could ask her for everything and she could give us good hints for restaurants, hiking-paths and everything else you need to know for holiday. Thank you very much, Laura!

“A wonderful stay”

We loved this place! We stayed here with our two young children and found it so comfortable and clean, with plenty of room, a well-equipped kitchen, everything beautifully finished and a cot and high chair for our little girl. The owner was really friendly and helpful for anything we needed, but we always had our own space and privacy. The children loved running round in the garden, completely fenced in so perfectly safe, and we enjoyed walking in the surrounding vineyards. You can visit many lovely places really easily from here, we went to Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Lake Trasimeno with a ferry ride to the island, Siena and Cortona which was amazing, however you do need a car. It was a little chilly over Easter so we were glad of the heating which was quick and efficient. We will definitely come back, with a visit to Florence planned for next time!

“Lovely Place in the Heart of Tuscan Countryside”

Il Saraco is a lovely property situated approximately 1.5 miles from the village of Gracciano, Montepulciano. It is a beautifully restored barn with far reaching views amidst acres of vines. Our host, Laura, is very friendly and accommodating. The apartment is well furnished and spotlessly clean with a well equipped kitchen, large living area, good sized bathroom and two double bedrooms, which are air conditioned (if required). there are stone floors throughout. All windows are fitted with the bug blinds and shutters. We simply closed all the shutters during the heat of the day, then opened all of the windows and the air flowed through during the night, keeping the place comfortably cool. The towels and linens are of good quality and our bed was very comfortable. There if a lovely private shaded patio and large mature garden with plenty of natural shade and a swimming pool. Free, reliable and fast wifi is available to stay in touch with the outside world. Nearby there a several very good, reasonably priced, restaurants. The location is great to exploring Tuscany and you catch a high speed train to places such as Rome from Chuisi. We will definitely visit again in the future.

The location is fantastic close to everything. The home is wonderful and so is the Hostess. My husband and I rent a home in Italy every year but this was our favorite location and home. We had everything we needed including a lovely patio to have a glass of wine and relax every night. Our Hostess was fantastic and honestly I am happy we meet Laura. We will be back for sure. Owner's reply: Many thanks for your review- we do our best to accommodate the needs of all our guests and always find feedback very helpful. It is true that air conditioning is an extra cost but guests have always found it very modest and indeed a total of €20 for the whole week does not seem excessive. A great many of our guests tend to be out and about of an afternoon in any case. We have also strategically placed the air conditioning unit in the upstairs bedroom, as the heat rises and this tends to be the warmest area. We are always happy to provide extra fans for guests on request. We do apologise for any crossed wires in terms of the pool; there is only one resident at the property but family do visit and grandchildren are always tempted by the swimming pool! However, as you mentioned, they were not there when you were in and the entire family are very respectful of guests and their wishes for privacy, peace and quiet. For this reason, we always accede to any requests made for exclusive use of the pool at any time/day and we always give guests priority use. When renting out the cottage in its entirety, guests have use of the large kitchen and all of the facilities which come with it, perfectly suitable for cooking family meals. Although most guests tend to use the grill for toasting bread, we must admit that a toaster would probably make things easier and will look to rectify this in the near future. While the holiday let does not have its own washing or ironing facilities, one of the many benefits of being so close the owner’s home is that all of these things can be borrowed on request- perhaps our fault for not making this clear but of course guests can make use of both washing facilities and an iron as provided by the owner. Unfortunately due to the rural location we do at times struggle with a mobile phone signal and it can be a case of having to hunt around for one but generally guests have not had any problems with the Wifi connection. We are always happy to help visitors maintain contact with the outside world in whatever way we can, including using the family’s private landline if/when necessary. We always do our very best to make our guests’ stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible, ask us and see! Thank you again for taking the time to write a review- we are always looking to improve upon what we can and reviews help us to build on our service and address any issues that come up.
