If you are thinking of buying in France this is the perfect medium term stay for you to try before you buy. Alternatively a fantastic location for some R&R.

One of France's Best Secrets (as described in a magazine). Gourgé is situated in the Deux-Sèvres department, Poitou-Charentes region. Deux-Sèvres is a place to unwind, relax and recharge your batteries; lazy rivers, quiet roads leading to unexpected villages and hamlets, historic towns and of course wonderful markets. Guaranteed your first holiday in this beautiful area will not be your last!

"au pont", a relaxing and comfortable Historic French Riverside Country Home, sleeps up to 6 people maximum.

The building dates back to the pre-Nepoleonic era and has many a tale to tell of its' past occupants...

Situated on the riverbank of the Thouet River, with a Medieval Water Mill and Weir on one side, and an 11th Century Romanesque Bridge on the other. It offers one acre of gardens, a BBQ area, a boules court, a basketball court, table tennis, fishing, boating and private river frontage. If you enjoy leisure fishing, Bream, Roach, Carp & Trout are there for the keen angler. This is a great location for families!

The scenic walk into the village of Gourgé takes 10mins, and there you will find the bakery, local store, restaurant and one of the oldest Churches in France, Saint Hilaire. Les Sentiers de Gourgé (the 5 mapped walking/cycling trails), are a well known activity in the region, due to the scenic and historic paths they follow.

Merci Caroline for making the time to do a review. Yes, all of our past guests have enjoyed staying in the Gîte plus exploring the region also. We are glad that you and your dog enjoyed the many fabulous walks in close proximity. In all our advertising and correspondence it is made clear that the Residence property is next door. You were given our arrival date before you booked the property. To be very honest, no one has ever mentioned that they felt their privacy was compromised in any way. There is a ¼ acre of gardens stretching down to the river with many different areas, some are partitioned, where you can relax. I am sorry the garden and lawn did not look as beautiful as it normally does, however our region is currently in the midst of a drought season and there are very tight restrictions on water usage. I believe our Property Managers/Gardeners liaised with you in regards to mowing times. Maintenance of the garden still needs to be carried out occasionally in order to maintain the growth and keep it presentable for our guests. The meter is read upon our guest’s arrival and departure, as it was with you. Unfortunately there was some confusion when you arrived and in the midst of everything you were not given the reading then by our Property Managers, apologies. Upon your departure you were given the details in writing of both the readings by us, plus how the calculation is made, based on the exact rate charged by our supplier. Best Wishes, Peter & Donna

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I pay the balance of my holiday?

How can I retract my booking request?

You’ll need to contact Donna and Peter (the owner) to do this. Send them a message in Manage your holiday booking or through the contact form on this page.

How do I cancel my booking?

Go to Manage your holiday booking to cancel your booking. Here you can view your cancellation policy to see if you’ll be refunded.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Donna and Peter (the owner) a message.

If Donna and Peter (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
