The Gallery is a spacious Grade II listed Georgian house retaining many of its lovely original features including beautiful large open fireplaces within the living and dining rooms, stained glass windows to various rooms and private gardens with plenty of off road parking. The house has a welcoming eclectic feel with a mixture of differing period furnishings, flowing floor to ceiling curtains, chandeliers and modern works of art scattered throughout the house giving The Gallery its name and individual personality.

Situated in a Conservation Area within Gosport on The South Coast the house is suitable for groups of any size for long or short breaks and the fun eclectic feel makes it suitable for all groups including families, special get togethers, hen parties and well behaved bachelor groups. Positioned on the Gosport side of the Historic Portsmouth Harbour you are also only a short 4 minute ferry ride away from Portsmouth and Gunwharf Quays which is a fantastic vibrant waterfront complex with over 90 designer retail outlets, 30 odd cafes, restaurants, bistros and bars plus a 14 screen Vue Cinema, Bowling Alley, Casino, Jongleurs Comedy Club, Tiger Tiger nightclub and the iconic Spinnaker Tower all set around the harbour quayside.

The house features 5 well proportioned double bedrooms with kingsize double or single beds fully made up for your arrival with crisp white linen and fresh white towels provided on beds for each guest plus an additional 2 people can be accommodated within a separate section of the large lounge on a sofa bed with cots and highchairs available on request.

The splendid 30 foot living room with it's original fireplaces, mixed period furniture and large floor to ceiling windows is the main hub of the ground floor overlooking the front and rear gardens and a large flatscreen plasma TV, Ipod docking station and Wi-Fi is provided for your entertainment plus the original Georgian internal wooden doors allow the added option to create two separate living rooms or a 6th bedroom if desired.

The separate dining room has seating for up to 20 with another original open marble fireplace overlooking the front garden with the 2 dining tables converting to create a pool table and separate table tennis table to keep young and old amused for hours.

The dining room is off the main entrance hallway opposite the modern kitchen which is fitted with a large 5 ring oven and hob, a generously sized American style fridge/freezer, a microwave, dishwasher and all essential mod cons plus the separate utility room houses the washing machine and tumble dryer.

There are 3 bathroom/showerooms available, one showeroom on the ground floor and the main bathroom and another showeroom on the 1st floor half landing. All linen and towels are provided and are changed weekly with a mid week maid service available on request. If cots are requested we ask if guests can please bring their own child's bedding please.

Outside there are mature gardens and lawn to the rear with trampoline and BBQ area, picnic tables and there is plenty of off road parking for up to 10 vehicles, boat and trailer. For family groups consisting of adults and children there is also the facility of hiring in a Hot Tub, if desired. (Please contact us for further details)

Our prices advertised are for up to 18 people but we can accommodate a few more people within the bedrooms on futon style bed cubes and 2 more people on a double bed settee within the large 2 sectioned lounge which can be divided off to create a smaller lounge and a 6th bedroom with the additional guests over 18 being charged at a rate of £25 per week/part week per head or we charge £25 per extra set of linen requested.

If you would like to bring along a pet for your stay we do not charge an additional rental figure subject to an additional £250 pets deposit.

Adult only groups that consist of over 75% whom are under the age of 30 years of age are liable for an additional deposit equal to the rental deposit which is payable 6 weeks prior to arrival.

Getting around

With regards to public transport the nearest train station is Portsmouth Harbour which is located next to the Gosport/Portsmouth Ferry. This passenger ferry is then a short 5 minute ride across the water and then you are an approximate 5 minute taxi ride to the house with a taxi rank in front of where the ferry disembarks We also have the nearby Fareham station which is an approximate 6-8 mile distance and an approximate 20 minute drive out of peak hours and should be avoided during rush hour if possible.

Firstly, may I say that the issues that we had were dealt with very efficiently, although its a shame that there were any to start with. My review therefore is more to do with the general feeling of the property. The Gallery is (as described) 'eclectic', the artwork is varied and thoughtfully installed, from the cityscape inspired dining/games room, to the more contemporary styled lounge area, although for me the more abstract nature of the 'punch marked' fridge (who's knuckle? we mused) is surely the coup de gras, amazing. If anyone is currently in the market for some online dating then be sure to use the filter that was utilised for the photos of the lounge for your profile picture, this way increasing your chances for success, so long as you never actually meet then you will be fine. To quote Rita Hayworth 'They go to bed with Gilda and wake up with me', my advice would be to sleep with your eyes wide open to see if they move all of the original furniture back in over night, things are not entirely as they would seem. The cooking facilities were amazing too, especially the extractor fan above the stove, and if I ever want to re-create the noise its fortunate that I only live five minutes away from our local airport, I think 'flightpath cookery' could be a new trend? The house has previously been used as offices as indicated by the hard wearing flooring and now redundant computer infrastrucure that was installed, and whilst we knew that we werent booking 5 star accommodation it made us feel that perhaps on our departure they would be putting the desks back in so they could re-open the call centre. As mentioned, the staff we dealt with could not have been more accommodating with the other practical issues that we encountered, and over all it was a nice weekend, and I actually would recommend the property to a friend, if only to test our relationship.
