Very Good

“Could not recommend highly enough!”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2016

A fantastic house with everything you could ever need, owner's could not have been nicer or more helpful both in the build up, during and after our stay.

“A memory making long week-end in a delightful house.”

Reviewed 29 Mar 2016

Our family of seventeen including 9 grandchildren ages from 2 to 13 plus 2 dogs all enjoyed the stay. Close to many amenities and not far from Gosport harbour. Accommodation really good in this period property. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and provided with good quality bed linen and towels. Lots for the children to do in garden including a smashing hot tub if the adults would get out! house provided an amazing game of hide and seek that all joined in. Owner very approachable with nothing too much trouble. Would certainly use again.

“Fantastic Weekend at 1908!!”

Reviewed 7 Oct 2015

We stayed at the Lodge in Wing 2 for a friends Hen Do- group of 11 and what a weekend! Evelyn was great to keep in contact with and could do enough to help, she emailed me details before arrival and as there was no one booked in the Sunday we left we had no specific time to leave- this was great as it mean 11 ladies 25-30yr olds after a night out didn't have to rush!! The Lodge- it's huge, very spacious, clean and excellent facilities. Kitchen is fully kitted out, bathrooms, bedrooms, dinning room are all modern with plenty of space. Linens, bed sheets etc are all provided- check the list of what the lodge provides as that was very useful! We are gutted we didn't have time to use the hot tub as we had our three days packed full of activities, but remember it takes a few hours to heat up!! Location- The location is excellent and Evelyn left a little book of local sites, things to do and numbers if we needed taxi's etc. Although we had everything planned down to a T, the book was helpful and appreciated.(it also included wifi codes) Taxi's to the ferry port were about £4 a car but its also within walking distance comfortably (just not in heals for some of the ladies!) There is a Waitrose 15 seconds round the corner along with other little shops, but a larger Tesco and other supermarkets close by. This was an excellent choice for us and definitely recommend!

“Brilliant hen weekend in the perfect property!”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2015

We stayed at the 1908 Lodge Wing 2 (without the Annexe) and I couldn't recommend it highly enough! We are a group of 10 girls ranging in age from 18-57, and I booked the property for a Hen Weekend in Sept 2015. It's a lovely spacious property and looks so impressive with it's high ceilings and 3 floors. The Dining room easily seated all 10 of us, as did the lounge area (the lounge doesn't look as big as it is in the pictures.) There are 3 showers, 1 of which is ensuite, and all are very spacious. The beds are incredibly comfortable - a lot of the girls commented on this - and the house is very quiet. Even from floor to floor the noise didn't carry too badly. The added extra of the Hot Tub was a welcome delight and we spent a LOT of the weekend in it, from Friday to Sunday! The house was equipped with plenty of crockery and glasses (no champagne flutes, but they were easy enough to provide ourselves), plus 2 separate fridges, so easy to feed and water everyone. It's also worth noting that the owner, Evelyn, was SO accommodating and answered all of my questions really quickly. My damage deposit has also already been paid back and we only left less than 48 hours ago :) Overall the whole experience has been a delight so don't hesitate in booking for a large group!

“Perfect Hen Weekend”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2015

We had wing 2 of the lodge for 2 nights in May for a hen weekend. I thought it was reasonably priced for 10 people and the location was great. The house was PERFECT - really spacious, lots of room for everyone! The hot tub was fab, easily fits 6 people and great fun! Evelyn was really approachable, helpful before and even let us check out late on the Sunday as they didn't have another booking- amazing given the hangover :) Really easy walk to the ferry over to Portsmouth, about 15 mins and at the weekend they do a value rate for 4 people was £17 return! Deposit easily returned, we had a great time!!! Thanks Evelyn, highly recommend!

“A well styled Edwardian house with modern comforts”

Reviewed 3 Feb 2015

This large house offers plenty of space, with beautiful period features throughout - fireplaces and picture rails are in most rooms. It is especially good if you're a group looking for lots of single sleeping arrangments - all of the 17 beds can be singles, so no one has to share a bed. The owner had also thoughtfully left things like tea bags and washing up liquid, which is helpful. It is well worth contacting the owner if you have any questions about the property as she is very accommodating - I asked about things like the size of the dining room walls, and size of the dining table, so I knew what size cloth to buy for my party tableware. These things can really make a difference to pulling your party off with success - a helpful owner is a must! I would highly recommend this property for a great weekend together with your friends or family. The only downside I would say is that because the property is attached to Wing 1, the noise level of the guests staying there was noticeable to us. But, as the owner owns both Wing 1 and Wing 2, if the noise was a real problem for you, you know who to call to sort it out.

“A lovely house so big an great owners, really friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back”

Reviewed 28 May 2013

This place is perfect for a hen party the house is huge. We hired the wing 2 and annex and had lots of room, big kitchen, garden, dining room, living room, games room. All bedrooms are spacious and cleans and comfortable. Lots of showers. Hot tub was a bonus and good location, a short walk to the ferry to Portsmouth, ferry is really easy and runs really late so good location. The owners were really helpful any questions or anything they helped out right away and very chilled so didn't feel any pressure. Would definitely go back

“Great for large groups”

Reviewed 14 May 2013

We stayed in 1908 Lodge as a party of 14 on a stag do in wing 2 and the annexe. The lodge is ideal for a large group, with a large kitchen, dining room and sitting room that comfortable sat all 14 of us. Evelyn, the manager of the lodge, met us on arrival and was very hospitable. I would certainly recommend this accommodation.

“Definitely worth it: simply wonderful.”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2013

We are a very large family with lots of very young children who rarely agree on anything and we all loved this property. It was easy to get to for all (coming from France and the UK), had loads of room and was very well put together. We felt at home rather than in a rental and had everything we needed. The manager of the property was great at communicating in the months beforehand and very kindly and patiently answered all questions and made sure we had everything we needed, including hot tub, cotbeds and highchairs. The house itself is lovely and Gosport offered easy and quick access to Portsmouth if desired via Ferry. The house is a stone's throw away from any necessary amenities and most of all a pond with swans and ducks, a big park and a games area for children which suited us perfectly and allowed us to take the children out every day. The pebble beach was great for the kids too. We loved it and would highly recommend it for family get togethers. We plan on returning in the future. anywhere where we can all be together yet have our own space is fantastic. The garden was also great for the Easter egg hunt for the children. Only downside were the freezing temperatures this year (not that that can be helped unfortunately) but even there, the house was so lovely and warm despite it's huge propotions that you can't complain at all. Thanks for a great stay!

“Excellent Birthday Weekend”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2011

I rented this property to celebrate my birthday and found the whole process very straightforward. The Landlord was very flexible with any request - i.e. the bouncy castle I wanted to organise to be set up in the garden! Very clean and well kept with lots provided with the property - tea, coffee, welcome wine / champagne. Would definitely recommend.
