Our sunny and spacious studio apartment is located within the prestigious 4-star Vitalhotel, the main sport-leisure and spa centre in the valley, the premier resort of the Dachstein-West ski area. And a well located base for summertime exploring of the lakes region and Hallstatt.
It consists of a large sunny room with the living area at the front with the balcony, with a large sofa and TV on the sideboard and dining table to the side. The twin beds are at the rear with a large wardrobe. The kitchen is modern with a halogen hob, and the bathroom has a good shower above the tub, with basin and WC. And non-stop hot water!
It is situated high up on the 3rd floor overlooking the valley, with spectacular views of the Gosaukamm ridge, the nearest ski slope and the 'Three Churches'. Our balcony is a fine place to sit at the end of any busy day, in the sunshine till dusk, to the charming sounds of cow-bells and the distant church chimes!
The hotel below us has wonderful facilities, and garden terraces, a good restaurant, bars, tennis hall, gym, Wi-Fi, a Wellness Centre, and free use of the indoor pool, sauna and ski-bus. Why not relax with a sauna or spa treatment after your busy day in the mountains? It's all here, on site!
All this is only 500m from the main road where there are shops, banks, tourist office, restaurants, buses, etc., and 2kms from the Gosausee (lake) with its glorious, much-photographed view of the Dachstein towering above the deep green waters, with the glacier in its reflection. The ski lifts are 1km and 1.5kms away with a free ski bus from the front door.
Gosau is close to Hallstatt one of the most popular tourist sights in the Salzkammergut, with its Salt Mine and lakeside restaurants. The Chinese love it so much they have created a life-size replica in their own country!

The Upper Austria region
This is one of the most beautiful areas of the world! The lakes and mountain scenery is stunning, and at every bend of the trail or footpath you'll be snapping away with your camera! Look at our website to see our photos, and local attractions, such as the 5-Fingers look-Out above Hallstatersee, and the Ice Cave, and the thrilling Cog-railway ride up the steep Schafberg mountain above Lake St Wolfgang.
Our own local lake, the Gosausee, at 970m, is a popular tourist destination too, with visitors trying to capture the perfect shot of the glacier up on the Dachstein reflected clearly in the still green waters below the majestic cliffs of the Gosaukamm ridge.
You may well come to enjoy the 400 kms of marked trails, in the mountains, around the lakes, beside the waterfalls, and grazing pastures - it's very popular with walkers, runners and mountain cyclists, and nature lovers. Or you might like to try one of many exhilarating outdoor sports such as paragliding, tubing and rafting on the rivers, or ice-diving, perhaps! Or maybe, working your way around the lakeside restaurants is your thing? There's a good choice and they are very reasonably priced. Have you ever eaten chamois, for example? You can in Gosau.
In winter, the whole valley is transformed into one of Austria's best kept secrets... it is the premier ski resort of the Salzkammergut's best ski area, Dachstein-West. The snow is frequently replenished through the winter. And there is also 40 kms of langlauf trails, too.
Gosau is the premier resort of the Salzkammergut skiing region, and serves Dachstein-West (900-1650m), with 58 modern lifts, 142 kms of prepared ski-runs of which, 32 kms is easy, 94 kms is Intermediate, and 16 kms is difficult. 3.5 kms night-time runs in resort - all connected by free bus.
One lift pass will service the whole area including Russbach and Annaberg, and the new gondola at Gosau Hinteral, at the top of the valley. The descents offer beautiful, quiet, unspoilt skiing and snowboarding, with 20 log cabins (alms) serving traditional food and drinks.
Wifi is available at most ski lifts and at tourist offices so visitors can send back pictures easily and quickly. A free ski bus connects our building to the lifts, 1 km away.
Season: 6 December to 6 April 2015
A Day Ticket last winter was €40.20 a day / €177.10 for 5 days.
