“A relaxing stay in picturesque Donegal.”

Reviewed 17 Mar 2015

My wife and I shared this holiday with another couple. We found the cottage to be spacious enough to accommodate both couples as well as being very homely and comfortable. We had days out across Donegal and Northern Ireland, discovering many places of interest to visit and enjoying some lovely meals out. The scenery throughout Donegal was beautiful and we took full advantage of this with countless walks through the countryside. A great week away for anybody wanting to explore this part of the Emerald Isle.

“Cozy Irish cottage in the Donegal countryside”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2013

Teach Manus Peigi has been sympathetically renovated to give visitors a typical Irish cottage but with a few modern comforts thrown in. When we arrived on a blustery evening we discovered the owners had set a fire for us, so before long we were enjoying the warmth and distinct aroma of an Irish turf fire. There are three bedrooms, a double, a smaller second double and a twin room in the attic, making it ideal for couples or a family of five. There's also a good-sized bathroom with a nautical theme and a ktichen in the living room area with all mod cons. If there's two of you the small table is ample enough but families will probably prefer the dining room off the kitchen. This overlooks the large wrap-around garden. Located four miles south of Gortahork, the cottage is a real getaway where you can make the most of country and mountain walks, We used it as a base to explore the Glenveagh National Park and the Donegal lakes and coast. We also took a couple of good walks nearby the cottage, taking in the inspiring views of Errigle Mountain and the lakes. We'd definitely think about going back and would recommend it for anyone who wants to get away from the bustle of town or city life. The owners also go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and ensure you have enough information and help, if you need it.

“Beautiful”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2013

Had the best Irish holiday ever and we have had a few. If you want 5star then this isn't the one for you BUT if want Irish charm, wonderful scenery and complete relaxation then it is. The cottage is so welcoming, I can honestly say I cried when I left.......I could live there. The scenery is stunning, and there are many lovely walks from your doorstep. You have the use of a great boat on a beautiful lake. Life jackets included. My two young children (8 & 11) found plenty to do in the garden and would insist we dropped them off quite a way from the cottage if we had been out, as they loved walking back by themselves!! They felt safe........ The water may be in issue to some.....the bath water is brown, I had many baths, my children had none However, they did have showers. I do intend going back very soon There are some fabulous beaches, our personal favourite was at Ards Friary......so many shells and a wonderful tea room in a beautiful setting. There is an excellent Eurospar in Gortahork. And on an evening light the fire with the turf supplied, and relax with a glass of wine and a good book If you have children take their favourite DVDs , there is no TV signal, but I saw that as a plus........ Oh and the owner is lovely.........
