The newly renovated villa is ideal for small or large families who want either a relaxing or active holiday in the mountains.

You are welcomed and shown to the property by an English speaking Dutch resident. He will give you the use of a mobile phone to call him in case of any emergency.

There is a welcome book in the house.

Enjoy meals in the sun from dawn to dusk with a superb panoramic view under the south facing covered terrace whilst sitting on our garden furniture. Or just settle down with a good book and relax. If the sun gets a little hot then simply pull your chair back let the roof give you some shade. The terrace is a particularly good spot for barbeques and its roof enables you to stay outside should it rain.You have the sole use of a spacious garden with an apple tree and a large walnut tree. There is plenty of parking space in the grounds tand some outside lighting. Immediately behind the house is an interesting woodland rich in wildlife, including deer, and herons nest in the adjacent trees.

The Styria Region

The villa is in a beautiful natural valley ideal for either relaxing or exploring: there is a wide variety of great walks in the valley and adjacent mountains.

Nearby attractions include the famous and spectacular valley of Logarska Dolina and the high plateaus of Velika Planina and Golte. The Dreta river flows only 200 metres from the house with good trout fishing (you may need a licence).

A number of museums, spas and restaruants are a short drive away. Also nearby is rafting, kayaking, horse riding, skiing (15km) and some cycle hire.

The central location makes a great base for day trips to the capital of Ljubljana, the famous Postjona caves, the smaller cities of Celje, Maribor and Ptuj, the eastern wine trail and, for a longer day, the coast.

Savinjsko is well known in Slovenia for is spectular alpine scenery and is very popular amongst local people, however, it still relatively 'undiscovered' by foreign travel companies.

Gornji Grad

Herons' Place is ideal for large families. It is in a quiet valley, surrounded by mountains and is excellent for walking, hiking, skiing, rafting, horse riding etc. or taking it easy in the garden. There are many areas of local interest, including outstandingly beautiful valleys, interesting museums, great value restaurants, towns and spas. You will find plenty of information available in the house about Slovenia: places to go and things to do.You typically see much wildlife around the house, including deer, buzzards and herons. You only have a 5 minute walk to the riverside pub that serves excellent fresh trout, and a 15 minute walk to the nearest small supermarket. The cost of living in Slovenia is exceptionally reasonable making eating out very affordable.

There are several taverns within 1.5km walking distance. The friendly riverside tavern only 700m away from the house serves fresh trout.

At 3km away, Gornji Grad is the nearest town to the house. It is small but has a variety of restaurants, including an excellent pizzeria, shops and a bank; and is on the intersection of many famous hiking trails. Mozirje is a larger town with many shops and supermarkets and is an easy 14km drive away.

Towering over Mozirje is Golte, a wonderful mountain plateau that offers excellent skiing and hiking. The mountain is drivable but is also served by frequent alpine gondolas throughout July and August and the ski season.
