The Cornwall region

There is so much more to Cornwall than just fabulous scenery and beautiful beaches. The history of this county is rich and vivid, and never more so than when remnants of its past are stumbled upon during rambling walks through the countryside.

Cornwall has been voted 'Favourite UK Holiday County or Region' at the British Travel Awards for a number of years.

Towns and villages that date back hundreds of years, with stories of wreckers and legends of old, are there to be imagined when walking through narrow winding streets down to the harbour. And to bring you bang up to date, there are modern art galleries to discover plus fantastic shopping with high street stores and unique boutiques and craft shops side by side.

Godolphin Cross

Godolphin Cross is a tranquil village situated in West Cornwall.

The village is just 5 KM from the beaches of the South Coast and yet only 10 KM from the beaches of the North Coast. The village has easy access to all the major attractions in the area but is a haven away from it all at the end of the day.

Godolphin Village is on established walking routes and has the National Trust Godolphin House and Estate within 0.5 KM. The area is rich in mining history and the iconic tin mines chimneys are seen around the area.

For those looking for a more active stay they is:

- 12 golf courses within a 20 KM range

- The South West coastal path

- Sea fishing from Porthleven and Penzance

- Surfing beaches (North and South coast)

Art galleries abound in the local area with St Ives and Falmouth both offering exceptional galleries. St Ives is also the location for the Tate Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum & Sculpture Garden.

Being a major holiday destination, there are numerous award winning restaurants in the area specialising in a range of foods but with fresh fish being a regular on the menu.

The village itself has a local pub just 2 minutes walk from the property.

“A beautiful countryside getaway”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2013

We had a lovely 5 day stay at the Old Vicarage- the weather was fantastic and Debbie was extremely friendly and welcoming. The house is situated in the most beautiful Cornish countryside and right next to the Godolphin Estate run by the National Trust. It is an easy drive down to the coast and the Helston supermarkets are only 5 minutes drive away. The property is beautifully decorated and provides everything you could possibly need and more. The tv system is advanced and the DVD collection massive. We were lucky to enjoy a bbq outside on the terrace as well. Thanks for everything! We will be returning soon.

“This is a holiday rental that actually exceeds the prose and the photographs....”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2013

I am so gratified to find an owner who furnishes (and supplies) her accommodation to the highest standards. The house is beautiful, warm and inviting, with lovely detail in its design and fitments, and surrounded by a pretty garden that was soothing even in a dreadful March climate. The owners left a generous welcome pack, supplied both ensuites with exquisite, locally manufactured Spa toiletries, had quality linens and towels, had a well-fitted kitchen with furnishings that included non-scratched (!!) Teflon pans... my pet peeve!. This might seem basic but several places we have known over the years, despite price point, have seemed to offer just motley accoutrements in a rather mean-spirited fashion. If you have a nice home you will be happy staying here !!

“Lovely property in a magical part of Cornwall”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2013

Although the weather was a little uncertain we had a wonderful stay at The Old Vicarage. The owners have done a wonderful job in creating this cosy little nook, mid way between the north and south coasts. The property has two good sized bedrooms with modern ensuites, a very well equipped kitchen and a lounge/dining room with big comfy sofas and a great TV/sound system. Lots of DVDs and local books on hand was a really thoughful touch. There are nice outside spaces as well, but the weather didn't allow much of this on our visit. The location is quiet but well positioned to visit a myriad of enchanting places. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you book here.

“Stunning house, fantastic location”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2012

We had an absolutely fabulous time staying at The Old Vicarage and using it as our base to tour around Cornwall for the week. The booking process, handover at beginning and end was all super friendly and smooth with lots of information in the house to help plan your tours. In the evenings there were plenty of games, a huge DVD library and an X-Box to keep my niece amused and the house has every amenity you need to make a very comfortable stay. The house is finished to a very high luxury standard which makes the stay all the more comfortable. In terms of location it's near Helston so close to plenty of large supermarkets to get provisions and easy to get onto most of the "main" roads quickly, we went to Lizard, Minac, Falmouth, Eden Project, St Ives, Perranporth and all within easy reach. Definitely would stay again when we return to Cornwall in the future.

“5 Star Accommodation”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2012

We spent a week at The Old Vicarage and wanted for nothing. The accommodation was truly beautiful and absolutely everything had been thought of. Debbie and Paul made us feel so very welcome, we even got an invite to the Village Diamond Jubilee Street Party which was a day we will always remember. We had typical British weather during our holiday but the accommodation was so good that we didn't mind having to stay in occasionally. I have no hesitation in recommending The Old Vicarage - you won't be disappointed

“Actually the best self catering accommodation I have ever used!”

Reviewed 25 May 2012

This is an exceptionally good self catering accommodation. The house is in the most beautiful location and fitted out to the highest standard. You will not be disappointed!

“Totally fabulous!”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2012

Such a lovely place to stay, with absolutely everything provided to make the stay comfortable and easy. The owners have really thought of everything, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. So many good things to say, but apart from the decor, fittings, log burner, tvs, gardens etc great touches including books and games and even Easter eggs! The guests manual was easy to read and so helpful- we used several of the recommendations and they were excellent. In our party there were 6 adults so we really utilized the whole place and tested it- and it was still fab! Thanks - we will be coming again soon.

“Brilliant Gem”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2012

My partner and I recently stayed at the Old Vicarage and can highly recommend it. With the modern decor and appliances you'd be hard pushed to find better commodities. Upon arrival there is a provisions for a good hearty English breakfast and a selection of chocolates which were shamefully eaten throughout the course of our stay. The Hamillis are very friendly, welcoming and helpful if required but never intrusive. I would highly recommend this excellent accommodation to anyone wishing to enjoy a stay in Cornwall

“A modern homely cottage in a great location with excellent facilities”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2012

We had an amazing long weekend at The Old Vicarage. Debbie and Paul were extremely efficient and friendly to deal with and the cottage is superb! The location is excellent - being only 20 mins or so from Lands End, The Lizard and St Ives. If you are looking for a traditional yet modern cosy rural cottage with high quality furnishings and all mod cons - including WiFi internet and the biggest DVD library ever - this is the place for you! We're hoping for a return visit soon!

“Excellent Accomodation with a warm Welcome”

Reviewed 25 Nov 2011

Myself and my partner recently stayed at the old Vicarage and we had the most amazing stay. The house itself is breathtaking, and the accomodation wing itself is self contained and private. The accomodation itself is brand new and modern and there was nothing that we needed to ask for that we wouldnt find in a 5 star hotel. The owners were really friendly and helpful and made us feel extremely welcome. we will definitely be returning!
