The Lake District National Park ....... Inspiring mountain scenery, challenging fell walks and climbing, leisurely valley walks, Lakes and tarns for messing about on, beautiful villages with traditional tea rooms and pubs, a landscape that is loved and cherished by millions.
The Lake District is a special corner of the world. Each valley has its own character and charm. There is something for everyone. Many of our visitors return year after year. Maybe at a different time of year to enjoy a different season; maybe for some peace and quiet; maybe for the challenge of long days in the hills followed by a pint in the local pub.
The Lake District offers wonderful holiday opportunities and it also a special place where people live and work.
Glenridding enjoys a beautiful setting at the southern end of Ullswater lake. Surrounded by mountains, there are superb Lakeland vistas and glimpses of the lake everywhere you look.
The village has everything you might need on holiday: cafés, pubs, shops, Steamer trips, boat hire and sailing tuition. There is also a National. park Information Centre, medical centre and petrol station and garage.
You can enjoy challenging mountain walks such as Striding Edge, Helvellyn, Fairfield, St Sunday Crag and High Street as well as more leisurely valley strolls. You can take the steamer to Howtown and then walk the lakeshore path back to Patterdale and Glenridding or explore the new off road path to Aira Force with its majestic waterfalls.
