Description from owner

Description

1st year as a rental property. Traditional Irish cottage, 120 years old, in the village of Glencolmcille, County Donegal, this cottage has been in my family for over a century and has been modernised for comfort yet retaining its traditional style with it warming open fire, the nearby beaches are perfect for kids, pets are welcome

Location description from owner

The County Donegal region

The area is renown for its beauty with its wild rugged coastline that sticks out into the atlantic and just a few miles away are the cliffs of Slieve League, the tallest sea cliffs in Europe, again with fantastic walks not to be undertaken by the novice.
Just 25KM away is the very busy fishing port of Killybegs where you can buy the freshest fish straight out of the Atlantic, a further 20km will take you on to the ancient town of Donegal with a wide variety of shops and restaurant not forgetting its castle.

A trip of 1 1/2 hours will take you to Glenveigh National Park and the Mount Errigal Gardens, very much worth a visit

Glencolmcille

There are a variety of walks around Glen including a walk taken in the pagan times of a route marked with standing stones, 2 beaches, one small beach that is very safe with youngsters the other much bigger beach where waves can suit the surfers.
Also a great area for the sea anglers, tourist markers will tell you what fishes you are likely to catch but as its the atlantic ocean you could catch anything including sharks.
Never be afraid to ask the advice of the locals they are always keen to help visitors

This is now the second year running we have rented Kinakillew Cottage and again had the most wonderful, relaxing holiday. Friends from Scotland stayed with us and we are all agreed we will be back to stay again - if we are allowed after me breaking another wine glass! Sorry John!

Owner's reply: Break away, it a great way to stop me from drinking when we are up there, glad you had a great time , see you soon jon and claire
