Location description from owner

The County Donegal region

Donegal is fast becoming one of the most popular tourism hotspots in the North West of Ireland. It is fortunate to have the impressive highest sea cliffs in Europe on its doorstep. County Donegal is a county in the north-west of Ireland. It is part of the Border Region and is in the province of Ulster. It is named after the town of Donegal (Dún na nGall) in the south of the county. The county is the most mountainous in Ulster consisting chiefly of two ranges of low mountains; the Derryveagh Mountains in the north and the Bluestack Mountains in the south. It has a deeply indented coastline forming natural sea loughs, of which both Lough Swilly and Lough Foyle are the most notable. The Slieve League cliffs are the sixth-highest sea cliffs in Europe, while Malin Head is the most northerly point on the island of Ireland. The climate is temperate and dominated by the Gulf Stream, with warm, damp summers and mild wet winters.

Glencolmcille

Teelin is Europe's best kept secret! It is a tranquil little village in South West Donegal, nestled at the foothills of the Sliabh Liag Mountain, which is 1972ft in height and supports the highest sea cliffs in Europe, It boasts some of the finest scenery in Ireland and is well known for its traditional Irish Music. It boasts beautiful walks, nearby megalithic tombs, splendid picturesque beaches and a local industry which dedicates its life to keeping the traditional weaving and wool making sector alive. The local people are friendly and you can most certainly enjoy a great nights "craic" in the local taverns, which entice you with their folklore tales of times gone by as well as listening to our wonderful traditional music, which is played in almost all of the local pubs.
