Location description from owner

The Western Cape region

Overall, the Western Cape climate is typically Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers and mild, moist winters.. Near the coast, summer’s temperature rises from a pleasant low of 15º C to a heart warming 27º C. The 'Cape Doctor' is a south-easterly summer wind which clears Cape Town air of any pollution. Coastal winters see the mercury dropping to a mild 7º C at night and rising to a comfortable 18º C by day. With the onset of spring from August to October, the whales come to calve and the spring flowers displays are spectacular.

Glencairn

Conveniently situated on the False Bay coastline between Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town, the mountainous subhurb of Glencairn offers sea views, a wetland nature reserve and walking trails. The beach is sandy and there is a tidal pool. Southern right whales can often be seen during whale watching season. It is a short drive to historic Simon's Town, the Penguins at Boulders and Cape Point Nature Reserve. It is a 35-km drive to central Cape Town and the Waterfront. The vineyards of Constantia are a short 15/20 minutes drive away and it is a scenic one hours drive to Stellenbosch. Chapman's Peak Drive, several golf courses and Kalk Bay are all close by. It is a great base for cyclists, hikers, horse riders, divers and water sports enthusiasts.

As a reminder parking is on street. There are both external steps and and internal stairwell to the property. The steps are steep and not suitable for those with mobility problems. Families do stay at GlenLin and we provide a high chair and travel cot. However, the open fire in the lounge, the balconies and uneven steps are all potentially hazardous to young children. We do not allow pets in GlenLin but Teresa and Pierre, in the lower apartment do have a dog. Parties are not an option!

“Best Holiday Ever”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2013

This was our fourth holiday in Cape town and the best by far, thanks to Glenlin... everything about the house, the owners, its location and many other factors made our stay an exceptional one. the warmly welcome, almost everything we needed was within our reach, the cleanliness, the views and just about everything was of great standard. There is only one way to find out how Glenlin really is, book yourself a holiday stay...! would definately recommend people and will definately go back...

Owner's reply: Thank you for such positive feedback. We look forward to meeting you again and sharing a glass of wine with you next time! Hopefully, there will be more improvements.

“Most definitely would return”

A well designed , equipped and managed property. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable literally a home from home, just provide food. Situated in a central and beautiful position with spectacular ever changing views of the bay and mountains, the garden also provides space for relaxing and entertaining. It is discreetly and effectively serviced, all carried out promptly with the minimum of disruption. Access to both house and garden is via steep steps, the parking is on street. However this is definitely one to return to exception quality and value all provided with a warm welcome.

Owner's reply: It was lovely to host you at GlenLin.I so enjoyed meeting you. Thank you for all the positive comments and feedback - especially about the little extras you would like to see provided.I'm off shopping!

The photographs on the website don't even start to show how beautiful this apartment is and the setting in which it lies. The quality and charm of the interior and fittings way exceeded our expectations.

Owner's reply: Thank you for such a special review. It is always our hope that the apartment meets or exceepds expectations rather than the other way round. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip and that we meet again.

“Beyond Expectations”

Reviewed 28 Dec 2012

This is truly a great place. Two teenagers are already a handful to keep them occupied, but the full dstv and uncapped wifi made that part easy. Then there is the touch of "I care", from the bottle of wine in the fridge to the Christmas crackers to the fact that there is all household cleaning materials and appliances available. The place is spacious with a place to braai, place to kick back and relax (shielded from the wind) and a balcony to laze around is- all with a great view of the sea, if you want a superb place - this is it

Owner's reply: Thank you for your positive comments especially about the full DSTV. As a result of your feedback we will definitely keep this rather than revert back to compact DSTV. We are glad that the teenagers were kept occupied so that you could relax and enjoy a glass of wine.

“Great place in a great location”

We had a great time exploring the Cape Peninsular from Glen Lin. The apartment is spacious, sunny, very clean and well equipped and is in a lovely location overlooking False Bay - lovely views from the balcony. Everything we needed was provided, including picnic utensils, cooler boxes etc. for day trips, full DSTV, free Wi/Fi. Definetely hope to go back in the future.

Owner's reply: Thank you for such a lovely review. Hopefully, it was the small things that contributed towards making your stay as comfortable as possible. We look forward to seeing you again.

“GlenLin is the Perfect Place to Stay in Cape Town”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2012

GlenLin is very nice and comfortable place to stay. We spent there with my family a very nice and enjoyable holiday. The house is very clean and everything is there (all kitchen stuff, comfortable beds and mattresses, TV with DSTV, Access to fast Internet, Hair dryer ). The location of GlenLin is very good. It is close to the beach, shopping, train station and it is very secure. The Cape Point and Boulder beach (penguins colony) are within very reasonable driving distance. Laura and Balire are more than nice people. They helped us in everything we needed. Really I am very appreciated to both of them. Definitely will recommend to any friend visiting Cape Town. Of course, if come to Cape Town again, would stay there.

Owner's reply: Thank you for such a lovely review of GlenLin. I am so pleased that you had a wonderful time. We are looking forward to meeting you again.
