Location description from owner

The North Wales region

The bustling market town of Bala lies within the beautiful Snowdonia National Park and is located at the head of Llyn Tegid, Bala's famous lake, which is the largest natural lake in Wales. Renowned as a centre for great watersports including fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and white water rafting, Bala is also the headquarters of the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway. The town itself is steeped in history and has a range of interesting shops, inns and restaurants, and an historical Town Walk. Surrounded by the wonderful Berwyn Mountains on one side and the beautiful Snowdonia Mountain Range on the other, this is a mecca for climbing, walking, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities. An ideal location for touring all North and Mid Wales including the stunning Cambrian Bay Coast with the six-mile long Harlech beach, overlooked by its majestic medieval castle. A truly wonderful part of Wales catering for all interests.

“Secluded bliss”

Wow, if you want peace and quiet this is the perfect place to stay. IT IS REMOTE though, so if you are not keen on being away from it all .....and I mean ALL, then this isn't for you. That said it's an amazing 'cottage' furnished to a high standard, with all the mod cons and fully equipped kitchen. Great scenery and walks surrounding the cottage. But if you want to stay put, then the cottage has all you require for the perfect place to unwind, relax, read, play games inside and out,(though we couldn't find bats, balls even though there are football nets and ping pong balls! Great fire pit outside which we used one lovely evening. There is a great B & O sound system for your ipod, so you can play without disturbing any neighbours! The underfloor heating and hot water system is temperamental, but once you've mastered the instructions it does work. The showers are great and really powerful. One down side, though is the coming on and off of the heating system throughout the night which does disturbe your sleep if you are in the bedroom where the controls are located or in the bedroom above. However the rest of the place makes up for this minor irritation. This cottage really is off the beaten track but if you follow the excellent directions from the owner you can't go wrong. Tip...take tin foil, cling film, kitchen roll and toilet rolls with you. Handwash and creme soap supplied and there are cleaning materials which you may need, as the cleanliness wasn't up to my standard sadly. This is an amazing place to stay if you want peace and quiet, but is also an excellent venue for a party/get together for a larger group (sleeps 10 if you include sofa bed). This was very different from what I'd usually go for and due to the remoteness of the place I'm not sure I'd visit again with my elderly mum, but maybe I'd return with a larger group of friends.

Thanks for the review Gill. We will take note of the feedback.
