We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alpha Rise. On our arrival Keith the owner welcomed us and showed us around and went through a few things re heating etc., which was very helpful. A very spacious and comfortable cottage, very well equipped and with all the facilities you could possibly need. Only a short walk from the village and from Hadrians Wall, so an ideal spot for walking. Great for cycling too, some of our party had taken their bikes. Plenty of information in the property about the local area, places to visit, cafes, pubs etc. We certainly hope to return as we had a great time.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Alpha Rise. We would love to welcome you back in the future. Keith & Susan

"An excellent holiday cottage which is very well furnished and equipped."
We rented Alpha Rise for a short 3 day break to use as a base for exploring Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding area. The cottage itself is beautifully furnished and comprehensively equipped for a long or short stay. Everything which you might need has been thought of by the owners. The accommodation was very comfortable. We found the property to be immaculately clean for our stay. The cottage is vey close to the Wall. A short walk along a quiet lane takes you to the Hadrian's Wall footpath, with Birdoswald Fort being about 2 miles distant. It is excellently placed for touring the wall. The village of Gilsland has two pubs and one tea shop (The House of Meg). We didn't try the pubs but the tea-shop was good for lunch. Would definitely return for a longer stay.

"An exceptional standard of accomodation and great value."
Alpharise is one of the nicest holiday cottages we have stayed in. Every detail has been considered right down to the finishing touches and we could not fault it in any way. The contents of the property is of a very high standard from the furniture, fixtures and fittings down to the kitchen contents and bedding. The kitchen was equipped to a standard far higher than a normal holiday cottage with everything you would usually have at home. A good quality travel cot with additional padded mattress and a highchair were provided for our toddler too. Keith and Susan have thought of every little aspect in the cottage which really does show in it's seamless presentation and facilities. Location wise it is perfect for Hadrian's Wall and great for walkers being just a short walk away from the Hadrian's Wall path and equally easy to drive to other sites along the wall.
Thank you for your lovely comments. We are very proud of our holiday home, and we are so glad you appreciated our efforts. Keith & Susan

Very comfortable, very smart house - had everything you might need. Very friendly and helpful owners. Great location, too - just minutes away from Hadrian's wall, 15 mins from some of the major sites like Vindolanda and Housesteads, 25 mins from Hexham, 1 hour from Newcastle. We had a great trip.

"Very clean and contemporary home from home"
What a lovely surprise to find a lovely clean home from home with everything you would need for an enjoyable experiance. We arrived with everything we would need for our stay with friends(6 of us in all) and found the open plan lounge/ dinner/ kitchen lovely. It meant that no-one missed out on the gossip whilst cooking or getting a drink. It is on a hill with lovely views, and a short walk to the pubs (2 in the village but both very quiet). You do need a car for the shops. Just a tip, dont go with an 02 mobile as there is no signal!
