Gibbes Cottages are your West Indian holiday dream come true - a recently refurbished and upgraded pair of holiday cottages nestled in the lush and tranquil gardens of a historic Barbadian plantation house. Osborne Cottage is one of these two adjoining cottages. Please note that we can only offer one of these adjoining cottages for rental at any one time during Covid-19 - we can rent both cottages together as one cottage (Gibbes Cottages) to one travel party or one household - please see separate listing for details.

Having parked in your own private drive, step into the central poolside porch of Osborne Cottage and through the double doors into the central kitchen dining area, complete with airy vaulted ceilings and excellently appointed rattan wicker furniture, both of which sum up the style and ambience of the cottages completely. This area benefits from both an inside and outside living and dining area, as well as beautiful views across to the pool area and gardens. Next to the kitchen door is a wooden decked garden gazebo, ideal for relaxing during the day or having a drink in the evening.

The bespoke kitchen is fully fitted with all appliances for self-catering, with all equipment and utility costs included. Outside of quarantine periods, a housekeeping service is included as standard.

Osborne Cottage has a super king-size bed and is fully air-conditioned with extensive wardrobe space. It also has spacious ensuite bathroom facilities and the benefit of a separate kitchenette. As well as the main outside dining area, there is a separate open plan evening room which adjoins the bedroom and also the added feature of a second bedroom with two large single beds which can also be converted into one large double. This second bedroom also has its own ensuite bathroom facilities.

Osborne Cottage can sleep up to four people, ideal then for a family with two children or for two couples.

The Cottages boast their own large swimming pool and sun terrace and are perfectly located for island exploring, water sports on the beach or just as a hideaway for ultimate relaxation.

There are beautiful private grounds surrounding Osborne Cottage, in which guests can simply just relax and enjoy at their leisure.

Gibbs Beach is widely considered by many to be the best beach on the west coast of Barbados. One of the most unpopulated too, it is perfect for relaxing in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere under the warm West Indian sun. The crystal clear and incredibly calm waters are great for a soothing and relaxing swim. Alternatively, Mullins Beach just around the bay, is somewhat livelier and has a range of facilities to hire, from sun loungers to jet skis.

Gibbes is situated between both Holetown, with its fantastic range of fashion boutiques, bars and restaurants, and Speightstown, otherwise known as Little Bristol, just to the north with its beautiful colonial architecture and it's sleepy fishing village feel. Speightstown is home to the Arlington House Museum as well as a number of art galleries and small cafés and delicatessens.

Be it a visit to the exquisite St Nicholas Abbey to sample their rum, or a restaurant reservation at The Cliff or Daphne's to name but two, some holiday shopping at Limegrove, a spa day or even a course of water skiing, we can arrange it all. Leaving you free to simply enjoy everything Barbados has to offer.

There are regular buses running close to the property or alternatively, taxis in the area are reasonable and recommended taxi services can be arranged for guests. Information on local car hire companies can also be provided should you wish to rent a car to truly explore the island.

*Other things to note*

If you are required to quarantine, we will be able to pre-purchase groceries for you ahead of your arrival and stock the property for you. Due to the Government restrictions, we are unfortunately unable to provide housekeeping services until you receive your clear second test.

Gibbes Cottages have a House Manager who will be present throughout the day (outside of quarantine periods) and will be available to assist in all aspects of your stay. A local agent is available should you need any further assistance. During quarantine periods, a 24hr guard must be present on the property. Outside of quarantine periods, a night watchman is available at an additional cost.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Gibbes (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
