Description

This small rustic country house is located in a conservation area next to a pine forest.

It is set on high grounds with magnificent views of the Sicilian countryside and the Iblean Mountains.

On the one side it is within walking distance from a typical quiet rural village which has all amenities.

On the other side it is seconds away from a huge forest with monumental pine trees.This is a protected park which enjoys safe walking/rambling/cycling paths; picnic area; bbq area; animal reserve.

A lovely park for children to play in is found at the edge of the village.

The village is quaint, neat, well equipped with shops that provide all requirements. Health centre, bank, pharmacy, bread shop, mini-markets, green grocer shops, gelateria, restaurants, pizzeria, newspaper shop.... the perfect little Sicilian village is waiting to be discovered along with its honey seller, its torrone seller, the old churches and the ancient village at the very top of the hill

Beds will have freshly clean sheets and pillow cases.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own towels.

Whilst there is no central heating in this house, it is equipped with a heating stove that is lit with dry logs which are made available to visitors.

Hot water is available via the hot water geyser in the bathroom which serves serves also the kitchen.

Water from the taps is not potable, however fresh drinking water is available in water bottles and these can be re-filled from the fresh water fountain up the road. The water is of excellent fresh quality and derives directly from the rock.

Visitors will find some basic food items in the pantry.

Each bedroom has a fan that can be used to aerate and freshen the air during the warmer months.

Spare quilts/blankets are available in each bedroom.

The house itself is surrounded by its own expansive terrain that includes olive trees, almond trees, vines, wild fig trees, carob trees and other fruit trees.

The wonderful scenery can be enjoyed from the front porch which is great also for lounging, romantic evenings, watching the sunrise and dining out.

Have your siesta relaxing on the hammock if you please. Use the bbq area to have your own bbq in the evening.

The house is also secured with security cameras.

Giarratana

Giarratana is set in the Iblean Hills in the south eastern tip of Sicily, 1710 feet above sea level. This is a beautiful small village which enjoys gorgeous Mediterranean weather that is warm in summer, with heat peaking in August and getting especially cold between December and February.

This village has a long history which dates back to Greek times and in fact the first name of the original village was Greek.

Giarratana has only 3000+ inhabitants The village is renown for the production of the Sicilian sweet Torrone and for the production of exceptionally large onions which are celebrated through the Sacra della Cipolla in mid August.

Mainly rural in character, the village is dedicated to St Bartholomew The Apostle and the religious feast is celebrated on 24 August.

The village is a short drive (approximately 30 minutes) away from the baroque town of Modica which is especially well known for its baroque character, its art, its coffee shops, its chocolate, its ice creams. It is one of the key towns in which the famous Montalbano TV series was filmed.
