This delightfully converted farmhouse, situated in the rustic village of Ghasri, retains the feel and sense of light and space of the original, whilst retaining the use of its old features to good effect. This is especially true with its arched ceilings in the kitchen and living room area, and with the patterned tiles in the bedrooms. Its furnishings are also sensitive to the architecture of the building and add to its rustic charm.
Facilities include a private pool and sun lounge area giving onto open fields, fireplace for winter visits and cable Tv, DVD and free WiFi. Two spare bathrooms on the ground floor as well as screens and fans in every room also enhances the comfort for the visitor.
Sleeping 10 in 5 separate bedrooms, of which two on the ground floor, and having good sized living spaces, it caters for family groups, whilst having en suite facilities with every bedroom, ensures privacy for everyone.
Adding to the charming ambiance of the property are the amazing views of the surrounding hills, including Tal Gordan, a flat topped hill with its iconic lighthouse at one end, a 'must visit' for the ramblers. The village of Ghasri itself sits among the fields and valleys of the rural Gozo, but still within only a mile away from the town of Victoria with its commanding citadel clearly visible, and close to the best swimming spots on the island.

The Island of Gozo region
Gozo forms part of the Maltese Archipelago and right in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea. Gozo's small size is deceptive and its rich history and unique landscape catches the inexperienced traveler by surprise. Inhabited since mythical times, Gozo's retains an aura of unblemished beauty, still largely un spoilt and accessible to all.
The Islands history and past cultures are evident from its temples (thought to be the oldest standing structures in the world) and forts dotted around the countryside and along its shoreline. An old walled city dominates the centre of the island, high above its surrounding villages.
Terraced fields, bordered by miles of old rubble walls, slope down a myriad of hills and valleys, making the countryside an irresistible lure for ramblers, especially during the winter months when the island attains a green golden hue all round. Meanwhile the sea around its shores is crystal clear and the hidden rocky coves invite the snorklers with their safe bathing almost throughout the year
Gozo – covers an area of 67 km or 26 square miles, it is 9 miles long by 4 ½ miles wide and known as the sleepy island full of grace and charm.
Gozo's population is about 31,000 (approx). Despite its compact size, Gozo has a lot to offer. Historical places can be found in an abundance, as a visit to the Ggantija temples is a must! It is believed that these temples are older than the Pyramids of Egypt in actual fact. They date back to 3.500 years B.C !
Gozo – Other places of interest include the museum of Archaeology in Victoria, which is full of archaeological remains and pre-historic artefacts. The Citadel (Victoria 'Capital City'), the folklore museum in Gharb, Xerri's Grotto, Ninu's Cave and Calypso's Cave, which can be found in Xaghra. 'Ta Pinu' Sanctuary, where, at the turn of the century a local peasant woman had apparitions from Our Lady, is a very special and Holy Place.
Xewkija Dome dedicated to St. John the Baptist is the largest dome on Gozo, 'Ta Cenc' cliffs and Dolmens, the Azure Window, the Inland Sea and the Fungus Rock all in Dwejra, Ramla Bay one of the Maltese islands largest beaches with its unique orange coloured sand and the old part of Victoria are places to note and visit, whilst on the island of Gozo. If you're looking for a destination that offers more than just a suntan, Gozo will definitely deliver beyond your expectations!
Ghasri is a peaceful village situated on the western part of Gozo. From the Village Square, a road leads to the fabulous valley of Wied l-Ghasri which is 2.3km away from property. On the way, there is an old charming chapel dedicated to the Patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Wied l-Ghasri area is a marvellous country walk or cycling site especially in Winter and Spring. The valley ends in the sea, wedged between high cliffs where a secluded little inlet makes it ideal for swimming, snorkelling and diving. Indeed, the sea around Wied l-Ghasri is very popular among divers.
Property is 4km from the nearest Dwejra Bay. The nearest Restaurant is 1km from property; Ta Salvina. Lighthouse supermarket is 1.2 km from property. The city centre Victoria is 3.5 km away where you can find Cafe's, Restaurants and a fish market.
The sea around its shores is crystal clear and the hidden rocky coves invite the snorkellers with their safe bathing almost throughout the year.
Should you fancy a day at the beach Ramla Bay with its unique honey-red sand is the largest and most popular beach on the island and can be reached by car in 10 minutes.
The feast of Ghasri is celebrated on the first or second Sunday of the month of June and is dedicated to Corpus Christi, at this time of year you will see the village decorated and see spectacular firework displays, where village succumbs to a wonderful vibrancy.
Amenities in Ghasri, range from;
• Bus Services
Gozo covers an area of 67.1 sq km and is some 50 miles distant south of Sicily. The main town is Victoria in the centre, with 14 village spread across the island. The three main fishing bays are Mgarr, which serves also as the ferry landing port, Marsalforn and Xlendi.
But a multitude of coves and inlets abound along its coast, the best known of which is Dwejra in the west with its azure window carved out in the surrounding high cliffs by the battering winter seas. Its spectacular sunsets and the deep blue colour of the sea beneath is the stuff of legends and a haven of divers.
For its small size Gozo's all year round cultural life is amazing. Each town and village is renowned for its festas, with their spectacular fireworks displays and religions processions. These take place during the summer months, with one being held every weekend and villages compete with each other for the best put up 'show'. The Mediterranean Festival, comprising of a number of musical, theatrical and literary events, organised under the auspices of one of the band clubs of Victoria, is held around the months of November and December.
In Victoria two opera houses put up two yearly productions each, one in spring and another in autumn. Meanwhile sport events are held in the Island's two main football grounds and at the Victoria Sports complex. For the younger set, the main night spot, Il-Grotta, a naturally hewn cave on the rocky edge overlooking a deep valley, is an all night venue where young people from all over the world mix and have a generally good time in a safe environment. Bars also abound in the main towns and bays. These also remain open well into the night with their open air tables giving a bohemian ambiance to the place.
The Island's culinary trade has improved considerably over the years. From a beginning of a few eating places offering local basic dishes, which still survive today, a number of restaurants have sprung up. Now, one can also find international and themed fare, with some restaurants requiring bookings way in advance during the peak seasons due to their excellent service and food served.

Loved the property. Amazing rooms. Spacious. Would definitely stay there again. Quiet and private. All the guests enjoyed their stay spending from early morning till evening outside which was perfect. Either sitting round the table or lounging round the pool. The location was also good. Five minutes by car to the beach and one minute to local supermarket.

"Very relaxing stay"
We booked a last minute break to the island of Gozo as it looked like it would still be warm this time of year (it was very hot!). After searching for a place with a private pool we found Ta Lieni through the baron Group website. The farmhouse is pretty big - 5 bedrooms and as there was only 2 of us we only used one of them. The rooms upstairs and a good size and although they don't have aircon they have ceiling and stand alone fans. All of the windows int he house have really effective fly screens so we ended up leaving the windows open the whole time. Really liked the large farmhouse style kitchen with patio doors opening out to the pool area. Nice pool and great to have a table under cover outside so that you could escape from the heat but still be out. The pool area is great, good size pool and plenty of space and loungers. As the house is up on a bit of a hill we had a nice breeze most days as well - without it it would have been very hot. The location is very quiet and you would struggle without a car. We hired one from hertz at the ferry terminal. Cheap at £65 for 6 days and we only spent €15 petrol in all that time too. The island is really small - you can literally drive from one end to the other in about 20 minutes. Best restaurant we ate at was D Venue in the main square in Xaghra, well worth a visit. Would recommend it if you fancy a relaxing place with a nice pool. Has good, fast wi-fi as well!
Dear David and friend, Thank you for your review! It was a pleasure to have you with us. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you be visiting Gozo again. Donald on behalf of the Baron Group Team

"Rustic retreat with a touch of the medieval castle"
The property has atmosphere and charm. It provides a cool retreat in the summer heat and it has a beautiful pool and veranda. In the old part of the house the rooms are large and tall with ceiling fans and most of the floors feature the original beautiful tiles. A long corridor links the old part to the new kitchen extension from where the pool can be accessed. It is a property suitable for all ages but it is essential to have a car (or two if a large group). Everything on the island is close by, but no amenities within walking distance of the house, hence it feels like a retreat. Overall, everything was as advertised. However the standard and quality of the household furnishings and kitchen utilities and utensils is reflected in the price of the property. If you expect 'State of the Art' you will have to pay twice as much. Customer service (Baron Group) was also excellent. When something went wrong with the washing machine and the DVD player someone came instantly to either fix it or give us a replacement.
