Description

As a traveller, I often have questions to ask before booking a holiday accommodation. As an owner, I often reply in detail to make it easier for the enquirer to visualise better and fully understand.

However, I always find out that the best answer remains the one as soon as our guests arrive home.... they soon 'see' all answers to their questions!

Sincerely, I can read this Wow! factor in their eyes during briefing... reaching its peak when we move to the sea view terraces facing the Mediterranean Sea and the valley.

Inside (Free WIFI access)

Well, it's got two master bedrooms, one ensuite and both with A/C and terrace and one two-single beds and a second bathroom next to it. A fully equipped kitchen, dining and living room with a seaview balcony, a Smart 32" Full HD TV with Satellite channels, DVD player, telephone (free local calls), video intercom and log fireplace. There is also a second living area with a computer PC with broadband internet access, iPhone

There is also a second living area with a computer PC with broadband internet access, iPhone docking station, a library of books, brochures, maps and walking guidebooks. There are also an automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, lots of garden furniture, umbrellas and beach equipment. Plus a baby cot and a high chair are available too for free if required.

Outside (Free WIFI access)

The house is heavenly blessed with a unique 360 degrees unobstructive sea views location. Just imagine the freedom you will feel having your breakfast in one of the terraces while watching sunrise... or sipping an afternoon tea or coffee while enjoying the sea views of the Maltese islands, the Blue Lagoon and the local fishermen's boats coming back... or why not share an evening BBQ al fresco enjoying the catch of the day or the fresh local meat from the butcher with a couple of local bottles of wine or Cisk beer. At Mediterranea, apart from the 3 terraces, there are also a sea view balcony and a country view balcony.

Very convenient and healthy!

We are only 10 minutes walk to waterfront restaurants, bars, supermarket, ATM, car hire, diving centre, Zewwieqa bay and boats to Blue Lagoon.

To make things even easier, every day the greengrocer and the bakery vans stop by so you can buy daily fresh local fruits, vegetables and bread without the need to walk to shops... and as soon as the fishermen unload their kavetti (Maltese technical word for special fish boxes) full of fish in the Mgarr shores, Mario the fish hawker brings the catch of the day right to your doorstep.

Can we use Public Transport instead?

Yes, definitely. You can take the white and green bus from the airport to Cirkewwa ferry terminal from where you can take the next ferry to the island of Gozo. Full details by email.

From our experience as both travellers and hosts, we understand very well that this IS your holiday you are looking forward to and you want the Best. The best Location, the best Accommodation and the best Hospitality services. You've found the Best Place!

Thanks. I'm here to help, Frank.

The Island of Gozo region

Gozo is the second largest island of Malta in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Enriched with over 7000 years of history and graciously blessed with envious natural beauty, breathtaking views, this lovely unspoiled island is an oasis of tranquility, offers a warmth of hospitality and a unique peaceful ambience. Better known as the Island of the Three Hills because flat-topped hills dot the landscape, Gozo possesses a wonderful coast with rugged cliffs penetrated by steep valleys and gorgeous bays like Ramla Bay. The countryside is greener, more spectacular, and has a distinct character. More rustic and quieter than Malta, it is 14 kilometers long and 7 kilometers at its widest point. The many bays and rocky coves in Gozo like the Azure Window in Dwejra, plus the aquamarine crystal clear water are ideal for water-sports such as snorkelling and diving. No wonder the island is considered the diving mecca in all the Mediterranean! Certainly, Gozo is not an island for those seeking bright lights and the hustle and bustle of other Mediterranean resorts. Here the pace of life is slow and relaxed. Gozo is the Mediterranean as once was, a unique romantic island, rooted in history and prehistory. A visit to Ggantija Temples in Xaghra, considered as the oldest building structures on earth, built eight centuries before the pyramids in Egypt is a must!Gozo's climate is definitely outstanding. The island where the sun always shines. Lovely. So warm but at the same time at night gently kissed by the cool breezes from the Mediterranean Sea. Sunshine averages 6.46 hours in winter and 11 hours in summer. There is no fog, snow, or frost. The hottest period is mid-July to mid-September. Today, Gozo still evokes the magic of the myth and casts its spell over today's twenty first century visitors. The sleepy pace and rustic charm of the island encourage relaxation from the moment you first set foot on the harbour-side at Mgarr. In Gozo you too can discover the charms and peaceful country surroundings while living in the traditional past.

Ghajnsielem

Ghajnsielem, just above Mgarr Harbour is the gateway to the island of Gozo. Its peacefulness is historically engraved in its own name: 'Ghajn' (spring of) and 'Is-Sliem' (peace) – a spring of peace. Our unique location facing the Mediterranean Sea offers a quiet place to get away from it all. At the same time, all amenities are close by. Seafront & award winning restaurants, supermarket, beaches, diving, boat trips to Comino & Blue Lagoon, Gozo ferry, bus stops to capital Victoria & Citadel & car hire are less than 15 minutes on foot. Ghajnsielem is blessed with fantastic open spaces, five beautiful churches, the Apparition Monument, Fort Chambrai, beach and local craftsmanship workshops. Ghajnsielem is also home of Gozo's favourite pasta dishes, pastizzi, ravioli, local pizza known as ftira, fresh fish, traditional bread and of course mouthwatering pastries - a ritual souvenir for all our special guests! Our accommodation is just 10 minutes drive from the new blockbuster film By the Sea to be released this year by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. This film was filmed here in Summer/Autumn 2014 and directed by Jolie herself. FREE guided tour to this lovely place to all our guests is provided. We will be visiting the valleys which are surrounded by high rocks; the secluded pebble beach which offers clear waters and which make it ideal for underwater photography. Of course a swim would make our visit even more Special followed by a dinner in one of the best and most recommended restaurants on the island of Gozo. FREE maps and walking guide books are provided in our accommodation so you can just walk anytime from home to this beautiful filming site.Suggested reading: Ghajnsielem: The gateway to Gozo (book available at home).

“Overall Amazing Experience”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2015

We travel to Europe annually and have visited many countries. No where in our travels have we met such a kind and thoughtful person as Frank. We felt completely at home mostly due to his careful planning of his property and famous words "don't worry". You truly need not worry when Frank is helping you. This trip has been a special one for us as it was our first to Malta and Gozo. The hospitality of the Maltese and Gozoitans ware unparalleled to any other country we have been to. Thanks Frank for a wonderful introduction to your beautiful island and look forward to more Canadians to follow us as we fully recommend Mediterranea Seaviews to all of our friends. ***** 6 out of 5 stars from us.

“In love with Gozo”

Reviewed 1 Feb 2015

This trip was by far one of the best we have taken, and it had a lot to do with the location of Mediterranea and Frank! Frank was an incredible host. Not only did he brief us on what Gozo had to offer, but he also gave us directions on how to get to those places. We really feel like we experienced all of Gozo's historical sites and their secret gems in the short amount of time we were there. The people of Gozo are incredible! This community is one of the nicest and giving places we have ever visited. Also, the location of the Mediterranea was perfect! We were walking distance to all the necessities (grocery, restaurants, ferry, bus stops, etc.); and you cannot beat any of the gorgeous views on any of it's 3 terraces. Everything was perfect! Clean, plenty of towels and linens, lunch upon our arrival, and all of the amenities you can think of! You really get 5-star service/experience, while living in the comfort of your own home. I cannot say enough good things about Gozo, the Mediterranea, and Frank. We miss it already!

Many thanks for your words of appreciation and gratitude! It is our Greatest pleasure knowing you have had a fantastic stay at Mediterranea Seaviews holiday home in Ghajnsielem Gozo. You are an amazing couple and definitely deserve the very best like all our guests we always try to treat as Very Special. “6* Stunning, Beautiful, Relaxing”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2014

Having stayed in many 5* hotels and self catering establishments around the world I am definitely giving this one 6* plus. Thank you so much for making our stay in your house quite a unique experience, which began with your initial emails that gave us so much detail; from the wonderful welcome you and your mum gave us, the attention to detail you provide is simply outstanding. This holiday on Gozo will stay in our memories forever. Thank you once again.

I really do appreciate a lot your time and effort in putting online your experience at Mediterranea Seaviews Gozo through words. This is our main satisfaction - knowing you have been relaxed, away from it all - happy and at peace; well prepared to discover Gozo the local way and then rest in a completely private home away from any other tourist resort, but at the same time in a great location near the sea to discover Gozo on foot and by the 3B - buses (3 bus stops within 100 metres), boats and ferries (12 minutes walk) and new bicycles (all free in the accommodation). You were both Great guests and it was a Big pleasure to host and share some of Gozo's best insights with you. Definitely, we'll use your feedback to improve even more the comfort and services at Mediterranea Seaviews holiday home at Ghajnsielem, Gozo. You are always welcome anytime, any day. Grazzi hafna / Many thanks, Frank.

“great view”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2011

Gozo is "like Malta but slower paced" - beautiful tiny beaches, temples, and a couple of very characterful small towns- great if you like to take it easy on holiday (as we do)! This house has a terrace with a fantastic view across Comino to Malta, and that's the main attraction; you can sit for hours with a ftira and a bottle of wine, watching the boats. The house is, like many holiday rentals, slightly idiosyncratic but quite well equipped, with own parking space right outside. Owner very enthusiastic and friendly. Some great local restaurants within a couple of minutes drive (especially D Bar in Qala).

Whilst thanking our special guests, I would like to point out two aspects for the benefit of our readers. First, the house is actually very well equipped. Two of the three bedrooms are with A/C, fans, heaters and safe deposit. There are two bathrooms, one of them ensuite with surround music. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, hob, oven, fridge freezer, microwave, two coffee machines, toaster, juicer, blender and lots of utencils. There are also fresh herbs – rosemary, mint and basil. There are two living rooms with Intercom, log fireplace, satellite TV, DVD and new computer PC with broadband internet and two sofabeds. FREE Wi-Fi access. At Mediterranea there are a seaview balcony, a countryview veranda, a countryview terrace with BBQ, a seaview terrace and a roof sunbathing area with 360 degrees seaviews. Besides, we are one of the fewest rentals to promote environmental sustainability. Infact, we provide FREE bicycles and helmets for couples & families to discover Gozo on two wheels. There is also a library corner of books for all ages, including children. We also provide 3 information folder packs full of Gozo insights. There are also 4 information noticeboards and a whole section of Gozo Walking Guide Books. Recommended restaurant menus are avaialble too. There are also an automatic washing machine, a tumble dryer, picnic cooler, yoga mat, umbrellas, shopping bags, first aid box and safety features on every floor. Secondly, the house is heavenly blessed with a unique 360 degrees seaviews location. In fact, it is only 10 to 15 minutes walk to three (not 1) villages in Gozo! Besides, it's only 10 minutes walk to Mgarr where 10 waterfront restaurants (several award winning ones), pubs, large supermarket, tourist info & boat cruises are all nearby. So, one can definitely do without a car. In brief, it is only just 1 minute walk to Arriva buses and hop-on hop-off bus. Boat cruises, ferries to Malta, boats to Comino and Blue Lagoon beach, two car hire companies, diving centre, children’s park, ATM and seaplane are less than 10 minutes walk. To make things even easier, every day the greengrocer and the bakery vans stop by so one can buy daily fresh fruits, vegetables and bread without the need to walk to shops. These are just a few of the many advantages one gets when staying at Mediterranea – not to mention of course the peaceful laid back atmosphere as well as the quality and comfort standards this fantastic property contains. Thank you.
