“fantastic gite”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2016

just had 4 days at this very well property,i can only repeat what other people have said regarding the friendly hosts pauline and phil, they really make you welcome, and i would stay with them again if i wanted to visit the area in the future.

Many thanks for your kind words. We are so pleased when our guests leave happy. We hope we see you again in the future.

“A little piece of heaven”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

Le Grenier transports you away from today's crazy and busy world to a place of peace, tranquility of nature and wildlife. Phil and Pauline are two of the most warm-hearted and friendly people you could want to meet as hosts -although they will not interrupt your space if you don't feel like socialising. The gite itself is located in the heart of the picturesque french countryside and is private, quaint, homely, very comfortable and above all has most facilities that you could need. The little extras around the gite such as flowers on tables and candles add that special little touch. The Welcome Basket is so beautifully done with some lovely little treats. The Gite is kept very clean with wooden floors and bedding and a very nice size bathroom. The kitchen is more than adequate with pans and utensils supplied. You will need a car to do anything in the area as most big villages and towns that have all your amenities are within a 15 minute drive - at a leisurely pace. All we can add to this is that we are trying to revisit Le Grenier in October for another relaxing Autumn break. If you can't relax here with no stress, no noise (except wildlife) and no communication with the outside world (unless you turn the TV on) then you need to re-evaluate life. We are only in our mid 40s so we still enjoy a "blast" in life but you need this place in your life to keep you sane. There are plenty of sights to see but do your homework first as most will need some forward planning to fit it all into your relaxing break. Most of all enjoy. All the best Nicci and Steve xx

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. Thank you for a lovely review and photo's.Looking forward to hopefully seeing you again later in the year many thanks take care

“wonderful holiday”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2013

we found this gite really great, very clean, comfortable and has everything anyone could possibly need, really wonderful for a couple, Phil and Pauline our hosts were so welcoming and friendly, always on hand to offer advice and answer any questions we may have had or just for a friendly chat, at the same time respecting our privacy, the strawberries fresh from the garden and the freshly laid eggs from Phil's and Pauline's hens were most welcomming along with the complimentary welcome pack (how very thoughtful) everything you need to tide you over until you get out to the local markets. The Gite is situated in a beautiful location, with very easy access to all the WW2 sites and museums, also a beautiful coastline and towns, this whole ares is steeped in history. Very highly recommended. We certainly intend to return. True Yorkshire hospitality, thanks Phil & Pauline

Thank you for your kind words we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay.We very much hope you return one day, we look forward to hearing from you.

“Just like 'Home from Home'.....”

When we arrived we received such a warm and friendly welcome and greeted with a much needed cup of tea. The location is a beautiful peaceful place and Phil and Pauline could not have been more helpful with all local information, they were absolutely the perfect hosts. The gite was well equipped with everything you could want and more. The bed was comfortable and everything was absolutely spotless. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and fully recommend this as a place to stay. Phil and Pauline are two of the nicest people and have an amazing and very homely place - carry on the fantastic work you both do and we hope to see you again soon!! Thank you for everything!!! “Peaceful, relaxing 'get away from it all' location with welcoming hosts.”

Reviewed 4 Nov 2012

The whole experience from booking to departure was easy and hassle-free. We were greeted with Yorkshire hospitality in this quiet location which was just what we'd hoped for. Pauline and Phil took time from their day to make us comfortable and most welcome in their clean and well equipped gite. A generous welcome pack was most appreciated especially the fresh eggs and Camembert! The location was spot on. Enough to see within easy travelling distance, notably the 'Grande' and 'Petite' waterfalls in Mortain, the medieval citie of Domfront and Fosse Arthour for lovely lakeside walks. Further afield day trips to Mont St Michel and the Normandy Beaches are highly recommended. If you are looking for a full on, hectic holiday this is not the place for you. If you want to unwind and just relax with no pressure Le Grenier is just the ticket. For advice on any topic (literally!) speak to Phil and he will point you in the right direction! Your own transport is highly recommended to make the most of the gite's fantastic location.

Many thanks for your review and the lovely comments in our Guest Book, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us here in Normandy.

we can not speak highly enough of le grenier! on our arrival we were offered a hot drink by phil and pauline and then shown to our gite.it was immaculate and had every thing we needed including a welcome pack of milk, cheese, nibbles and wine!!! washing up liquid, cling film, tea towels, kitchen roll...you name it and it was there. any advice needed about the area and phil is your man! they also have their own small zoo in the back garden which we loved and a veggie patch that they are more than happy for you to use. all in all a wonderful place to stay,a real home from home

Thank you for your review and the lovely comments in our Guest Book, we are so pleased you enjoyed seeing all our chickens and pets.

Pauline & Phil made us both feel welcome and made us feel at home. Thanks for the duck and quail eggs they were great. Gite was clean and everything you could ask for to make it feel like home.

Thank you - so glad you have enjoyed your stay at le Grenier.

“Peaceful and relaxing....a perfect getaway!”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2012

Just arrived back from a short break at Le Grenier and can safely say it was an excellent choice! The property is in a very rural and beautiful area in Lower Normandy and is perfectly placed to visit the D Day landing beaches, museums and war cemeteries, Le Mont St Michel, Bayeux, as well as the quaint typically rural French villages in the surrounding areas. A car is needed, as the nearest village is about a 10 minutes drive. The hosts, Pauline and Phil are wonderful...nothing was too much bother and they had thought of everything. A true home from home! A welcome pack containing milk, butter, biscuits, cheese, bread and most importantly a bottle of wine, was provided and really hit the spot. Also to their credit, they were extremely friendly and welcoming, however your privacy and peace was important to them. The studio is self contained and has it's own entrance and garden area, but Pauline and Phil are on hand for anything you may need (though this is unlikely, as the give has it all!) Really hoping to visit again and want to thank you for your friendliness during our stay. You are a credit to the business!!

Thank-you for your kind words. So pleased you enjoyed your stay. Would love for you to come and stay again.

“Oh, the beautiful eggs”

Reviewed 13 May 2012

We have just arrived back from a 2 week holiday in Normandy staying at "Le Grenier". What a cosy and comfortable stay we had. Our hosts Pauline and Phil were on hand if we needed them, and the Ducks too, (the eggs were lovely) first duck egg I've tasted (forgot to ask you Phil, "did you find the missing ducks?" The purpose of our trip was to Carp Fish and house hunt. The cottage has everything you would need, the Welcome Pack was a very nice touch (the wine was just the job!) Thanks for the use of your chest freezer, much needed for our fishing bait. All in all, although we slept out for quiet a number of nights during our stay, it was nice to come back and chill out in the cosy lounge and listen to the birds sing.

Thank you for writing a review pleased you enjoyed your stay. See you in June.

Situated In the peaceful French countryside with everything you could want to be self contained. A car is essential as the nearest town is a 10 minute drive. Some really nice walks around the area to wallk off all the great wines and cheeses!! Pauline and Phil are lovely and helpful and you couldn't ask for friendlier hosts.

Thank you for your kind words pleased you enjoyed your stay.
