“Brilliant holiday”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2013

Had a fantastic holiday here with my friends. The gite was the best I've ever stayed in, it was spotlessly clean with all the comforts of home in a lovely peaceful location. Charlotte & Ken welcomed us as friends and helped with anything we required from local information to fresh veg and herbs from Charlotte's garden. We loved feeding the chickens & sheep. Ken gave me my first ever fishing lesson and I even managed to catch a fish in his lake. I enjoyed my holiday here so much I didn't want to come home, thank you both.

Thanks very much for the review and we look forward to your next visit. regards, ken and charlotte

“Wonderful hosts in a quiet retreat”

Reviewed 27 Nov 2012

We spent October half term in this comfortable, warm large farmhouse. The weather may have been unusually cold (we briefly had sleet) but the warmth of Ken and Charlotte made up for that. They were knowledgable, helpful, kind, generous and welcoming. We enjoyed Charlotte's homegrown veg and Ken's stories (He is an authority on the local wartime history). The farm was nice and younger children would be enthralled by the animals. The kitchen was well equipped and the TV had all the English channels (I regret our French is not upto scratch). The log fire was a treat. A week was not really long enough. Next time we'll come when it's a bit warmer and for at least a fortnight so we can really settle into the different pace of life. Thank you both for a peaceful few days.

“Fabulous holiday!”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2012

We had a marvelous two weeks, enjoying Ken & Charlotte's wonderful hospitality and the peace and tranquility of rural Normandy. The house is well equipped, comfortable and spacious. The garden is a credit to Charlotte, the chickens and sheep are fun for children and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Ken knows so much about WWII history and the local area, which adds to the experience. Charlotte was incredibly helpful when our daughter was unwell, and we are very grateful to her. We loved our time in France and would strongly recommend this beautiful house.

“What a week!!!”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2012

After the miserable, British Summer, how good was it to finally get a week of sunshine and sit in the beautiful, peaceful garden of Le Gue Rochoux. We went with 12 year old and 17 year old sons, a 20 year old daughter and 2 parents-in-law who are in their 70's. This was our 3rd visit and Ken and Charlotte were their usual helpful, kind and warm selves. The kids fed the lambs (more like teen sheep), we visited many a quiet spot and just generally chilled in the beautiful, French countryside. The kids rode on Ken's bikes and cooled off in the plunge pool which was very welcome as it was sunny all week. That meant the adults could read and walk and just generally take it easy from not being at work. The house is just great with so much space and as we had the teens, we hired the separate annex to give them some privacy. We'll definitely be back again next year to step back in time and enjoy the peace and quiet. Finally, how good is it to stand outside at 10 p.m., look up at the stars and hear nothing but the chirping of the grasshoppers with no traffic noise and no light pollution - just idyllic.

Once again we had a good week with your family and look forward to seeing you all again next year. thanks, ken and charlotte

“Holiday with all the family”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2012

We had a great time at Le Guy Rochoux. Ken and Charlotte were very welcoming and gave us lots of information about all the activities and attractions in the area and we were spoilt for choice. The house was very well equiped with everything we could possibly need and Charlotte has created a lovely garden. As always we enjoyed the food and wine of the region and it was a pleasure to drive on quiet roads for a change. The locals were very friendly and our week away was ended by a fantastic firework display in a near by village to celebrate Bastile Day

So glad you had a good time and thanks. ken and charlotte

“Brilliant, quiet, beautiful, spotless, we didn't want to leave.”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2012

Ken and Charlotte have thought of everything, from the excellently equipped kitchen to mending kits and spare batteries. The house is spotlessly clean and very comfortable and decoration is in tip -top condition. We were warmly welcomed and given all the help and advise we needed to enjoy our stay, even the loan of a sat-nav. We fed our scraps to the chickens who rewarded us with fresh eggs and got to know Alice, the Cotontin sheep. This house is a perfect rural retreat and we would love to go back.

Thanks for the review. We look forward to seeing you next time. ken and charlotte

“Just what the doctor ordered”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2012

Well, what a fabulous holiday!!!! Le Gue Rochoux cottage is in the middle of the most beautiful French countryside. From living in such fast paced lives it was a perfect get-a-way location. As there was only 3 adults staying in the property we had massive amounts of space which was fantastic. The place is massive. Although rural the cottage is still a stones throw away from fantastic places of interest like St Mont Michel (stunning) , Granville (v.pretty on the coast) , Caen (great for shopping). We also made it to Paris via Fleur which only took 2.5 hours on the train. Well worth it too!! (We paid 197 euros for 3 of us return). I can see how this would be perfect for kiddie winks as there is so much for them to do - bikes, fishing etc. The cottage pretty much has it's own ready made farm! We even did a bit of sheep herding which was fun! Ken and Charlotte were the sweetest hosts you could ask for, who couldn't do enough for us. We even went home with home made jam & lavender bags fresh from the garden - thank you so much xxxx You can tell they enjoy what they do.

Thanks for the review and the information you sent [ still waiting for the photos from your mum ] ken and charlotte

“Wonderful property and wonderful people”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2012

We stayed with friends at Le Gue Rochoux for a one week holiday. We found not only a property that lived up to its description but also wonderful hosts who helped us to experience French country life. This is truly a property that allows you to have the holiday of your choice - a base for touring nearby attractions or a quiet place to curl up by the fire and read books. The propoety is very versitile. We found it perfect for two couples but it also lends itself to family groups especially children who can experience farm life. In terms of amenities this was by far the best equipped holiday apartment or farm stay residence that we have ever experienced. Charlotte even gave us a basil plant to help with a dish we were cooking one night!

Thanks very much for the review and hope to see you next year. ken and charlotte

“Wonderful experience at Le Gue Rochoux”

Reviewed 30 May 2012

We absolutely loved staying here with our 5 children who are between the ages of 20 months and 14. It is beautiful and charming and close to many of the Normandy sites. The kids loved feeding the baby lambs and chickens. They also loved checking for eggs everyday. My older ones loved the shooting practice and fishing. The house was in great shape and very well maintained. Ken and Charlotte are so kind and were very helpful with helping us get the most out of our stay. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

Thanks very much for the great review. ken and charlotte
