“Magical little upside-down cottage”

Three nights and sunny days in the delightful village of Georgeham, and in a fabulous little place. Upstairs is still cottagey but big and airy, with soft warm carpet and the spacious kitchen. I'd wondered if the bedrooms, downstairs, might be dark, but no - somehow they're light and sunny too. An ingenious way to have arranged everything. Georgeham is tiny but has a pretty church, a little shop, and good pubs - and you'll find more if you wander down the road to equally pretty Croyde.

Very well organised from booking all the way through to coming home. The OldStores is very clean and smart, beautifully furnished and well equipped. Little extras thoughtfully provided - books, guides, maps, games, etc etc AND thankfully, milk in the fridge, tea, coffee and biscuits when we arrived. A great location for exploring north Devon - thoroughly recommended.

Coming from Pembrokeshire we weren't disappointed with the lovely scenery and beaches. Surf hire is readily available and I'd advise everyone to have a go! The "upside down" Old Stores was extremely comfortable and every detail had been attended to. The spare bedroom to escape the snoring husband was an added bonus! The food at the Rock Inn was exceptional as was the curry on the beach at the Beach Café. Putsborough & Croyde are well worth a visit. Georgham is very central to local beaches with Braunton nearby for shopping. Highly recommended.

The cottage is a lovely building, renovated to a really really high standard. The owners have thought of everything and have left so many thoughtful touches behind that there is nothing else you could possibly want (eg. a little bottle of milk in the fridge so you can have a cup of tea when you get there). To be honest, the village (and consequently the road the cottage is on) was busier than I expected but that is what you get in Devon during the summer holidays and it is the same everywhere.

Myself and 2 friends rented The Old Stores for a surf trip. This is the second time I have stayed here and will definitely return. The location is perfect; within a dry short drive of 3 beaches. The cottage is lovely; modern yet retains it's charm. 2 pubs within stumbling distance is an added bonus.

Good location within easy reach of Putsborough Beach. Two good pubs nearby, the Rock being very near by - one house away! Cottage was unusual in so much as downstairs was up, and bedrooms were down. The twin bedroom had a damp smell which was about the only disappointment. Beds comfy and fixtures and fittings were all satisfactory, and everything worked, which is always good. Good selection of books and games for non-electronic fun, my kids discovered Scrabble, and fights over definitions ensued! We certainly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this cottage, its a lovely village and would come back again.

Can't say enough. Perfect location. Next door to a pub, short walk to another. Lovely village. Beaches a short drive. The house is lovely, very cleverly set up. It made for relaxing evenings once the kids went to bed.

Full of character this inverted two storey home is a delight to stay in. Having bedrooms below the living accommodation works well, allowing for better views from above. The owners are to be congratulated on fitting out and restoring a delightful old village cottage which has lots of history.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
