Location description from owner

The Chania Prefecture region

Gavalochori is smack in the centre of the Apokoronas area, consisting of a cluster of twenty or so villages, half way between Chania and Rethymno, along the North West coast of Crete. It is a preserved village with many listed buildings. Gavalochori is a lively village with a number of tavernas preserving the local flavours that Crete is famous for. It is ideally situated for exploring NW Crete.

Gavalochori

Gavalochori is only 6 minutes drive away from Almyrida, and 10 minutes from Kalyves, two of the best known beach resorts of Chania, if not of the whole of Crete. At the same time, the surrounding villages of the Apokoronas region have each a few individual secrets that you can discover….

“great apartment, great location”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2014

Marilena Apartments are in a quiet village location 5 minutes from the scenic centre of the village where there are some good restaurants and basic shops. You are immediately hit with the views of the mountains over the olive trees, which has you grabbing your camera throughout the day and culminates with a great sunset. There is a well maintained pool and easy parking and walks. Gavalochori is an excellent location from which to explore western Crete by car. But after each trip it was a pleasure to get back to the comfortable and well designed apartment, have a drink and prepare to go out for an excellent Cretan dinner. Have recommended Marilena and stay in Crete to our friends.
