The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region
Renowned for coastal towns dotted along the Azure coastline forming ‘The French Riviera’ and its mild climate, the Var region is one of the most famous ,sought after destinations for visitors to France. It includes Saint Tropez, Sainte Maxime and several charming inland villages such as Grimaud Village, La Croix Valmer, and Gassin.
This region has so much to offer, from exquisite food, superb countryside and stunning beaches, to a wide range of sporting, watersports and Equestrian activities. The Bay of St Tropez has it all: From rustic markets to glamorous beaches and buzz of International Celebrities to to tranquil, serene surroundings offering excellent WALKS along the coastal bays and hills, the region provides for every vacation style.
Nestled in the heart af the Maures Mountains and bordering the Gulf of St. Tropez, Gassin has maintained its medieval character. The village is very appealing with its paved and flowered streets winding about all the way from the Romanesque church to the ruins of the feudal castle. While exploring the village you will see beautiful old houses that have been superbly renovated.
Gassin sits on the hillside in the midst of fabulous views. Further down to the coast, yau can visit Port Grimaud, the little Venice imagined by François Spoerry. Located just over a kilometre from our Villa, Gassin has fantastic views of the Bay of St Tropez on one side and the Massif des Maures on the other with its Domaines and Vineyards. There are several vinyards nearby where you can taste and purchase the local wines. The Brocante near Grimaud (antique Market) on Sundays is a Facinating experience, likewise the Market in St Tropez on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, there is a Market at Croix Valmer on Sudday Mornings
The famous St. Tropez market is a must and you can 'people watch and celebrity spot' whilst sitting at one of the many port side cafes or brasseries. There is the Nualage or big ships race in October, the Bravades, The Film Festival in Cannes, the famous 'Corniches' and Monaco Grand Prix in May, all just 1 hour away, and many summer Festivals.
The Chestnut Fair is celebrated in La Garde Freinet in October whilst Christmas in St. Tropez is a delight with the silver lights threaded through the plane trees in the Place des Lices. Nearby Cogolin, Ste. Maxime, La Croix Valmer and medieval village church of Gassin ( Mick Jagger & Bianca were married there) or as far as Eze& Nice with markets Of Ventimiglia in Italy are within reach by car or boat immediately across the border.

"A little bit of heavan"
Nestled in a quiet, predominately French Domain this is a perfect home to relax in the South of France. Inside is it airy and light with relaxing classic design, fully equipped with all you would need. Outside is perfect for outdoor living with mulberry trees giving you shade on the terrace whilst you indulge in a scrummy lunch, with the beautiful umbrella pines beside the pool. The pool is particularly good for doing lengths whilst looking up to the village of Gassin high on the hill! It is ideally situated near to St Tropez and all the surrounding beaches. For stylish fashionable beaches head to Pampelonne, Club 55, Nikki Beach & Herucle is fab for a relaxed lunch. The markets are a must, not just St Tropez market but all the others... wonderful finds to be had. Also don't forget the Brocantes! Go to the polo which is a hop skip and a jump away and up to Gassin for a drink/dinner with stunning views over the bay of St Tropez. We had a fabulous time out and about however, to settle under the umbrella pines by the pool with a good book & a glass of rose was simply divine! My husband loved his runs in the surrounding forest – I just walked! Enjoy: you will be looked after as we were.
Thaqnk you for your review which I think is an excellent summary of the Villa and what to do in the surrounding area.
