The County Fermanagh region
The landscape west of Enniskillen is as rugged and beautiful as it comes.
The surrounding area - where the counties of Leitrim, Donegal and Fermanagh meet - has a wide variety of scenery: beautiful lakes, long lines mountains and long sandy beaches with high dunes. Full of history, from megalithic tombs to the ruined cottages which remain from the potato famine 150 years ago, the area is ideal for an outdoor holiday
Lough Melvin - Sitting on the western end of Co. Fermanagh this is one of Ireland's most famous Loughs. Only three miles from the sea coast of Donegal Bay, Lough Melvin stretches nine miles along the foot of the Dartry Mountains. It is an unspoilt water of great beauty and is renowned for the range of fish, plants and animals that it supports. It is home to three distinct species of trout – the magic sonaghan, the gillaroo and the ferox – as well as enjoying a run of spring salmon and grilse.
Fishing starts in February with the arrival of the first salmon and continues through the months with grilse from May to July and wonderful trout fishing throughout the season. Trolling is the most used method for the springers but fly fishing for the sonaghan and gillaroo, as well as the grilse, is excellent. There is good public access with boat jetties at Kinlough Pier, Stracomer, Breffni Pier, Dernaseer and Garrison. Boats, and in some cases, boatmen and outboards, are available for hire.
Lough Melvin is also considered a Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest in Northern Ireland and an Area of Outstanding Beauty and Area of High Visual Amenity in the Republic of Ireland
West Fermanagh Scarplands - has a diverse range of geological and physiographical features. These support a range of habitats and associated vegetation communities of unparalleled significance in Northern Ireland. The rocks of the area are some 335 million years old and date from the Carboniferous.
Lough Melvin Holiday Centre - Holiday centre located in Garrison village on the shores of Lough Melvin.
Lusty Beg Island Activity Centre - Idyllic 75 acre island set in the heart of the Fermanagh Lakeland. The corporate hospitality venue with a diffrence. The perfect mix in business, leisure and pleasure.
Corralea Activity Centre Ltd - Corralea offers the most picturesque scenery if you want to chill out in the country, enjoy the beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains.

"Fabulous house and blissful location"
Spent a wonderful week here. Coming from a town centre location, my one concern was that I would find house too isolated, but we all loved the peace and quiet, the lough views and the wildlife (hares that we watched playing in the fields surrounding us!). The house is so beautifully decorated and well maintained that I really didn't want to leave. Weather wasn't great but we loved the wood-burning stove which took away the evening chill. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and there is lots to do in the area. Hope to return some day to explore things we couldn't fit in this time.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a positive review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at the cottage so much. Hopefully you will return again,Martina & Kevin.

"A brilliant Christmas at Rossmore Cottage"
We booked Rossmore Cottage for a week around Christmas for a small family get-together and the cottage proved to be everything it promised: comfortable, homely and in a spectacular setting on Lough Melvin - water and the raw countryside all around. Martina and Kevin had even gone to the trouble of preparing a beautifully decorated Christmas tree in the lounge, with other lovely decorative touches around the house. We had a great Christmas! I have no hesitation in recommending Rossmore Cottage as a superb away-from-it-all holiday location.
We are so pleased that you and your family had an enjoyable Christmas at Rossmore Cottage. Thank you so much for choosing to stay at Rossmore and taking the time to leave a review. Wishing you a Happy 2015! Thanks again, Martina & Kevin

"Lovely, welcoming house in fabulous location."
Very peaceful and private with lovely view of lake. Enjoyed meals out on the terrace watching the ducks splashing about. We were able to enjoy paddling our canoe on the lake. The house was very clean and welcoming with lots of comfy seating, open fire, tv and a well stocked bookcase for the bookworms. It was nice to find dishwasher tabs, cleaning materials and plentiful supply of toilet paper etc showing the generosity of our hosts and even a leftovers cupboard from previous occupants if we ran out of staples. There were plenty of games and dvds for a rainy day. We had no complaints at all.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. Kevin and I are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Rossmore so much. Hopefully we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. Many thanks, Martina

"Fantastic accommodation, amazing location"
On arrival it's clear that someone takes great pride in this cottage. The rooms were spotless, so much so that we cleaned up a little before we left. With three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two double beds and two single beds we had plenty of space. If you're a city slicker like me you will love the change in setting, the surrounding fields filled with lambs, and the edge of the Lough one minute from the door step. Quiet and relaxing at night and zero light pollution makes for the most amazing sky on a clear night. We spent most days exploring the local area, you're quite close to Belleek with plenty of castles and forest parks to choose from. In short, highly recommended.
Kevin and I really appreciate our guests taking the time to leave a review and we are both so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Hopefully you will return again at some point in the future! Thanks, again, Martina

"Excellent modern house in fantastic location"
Booked a 2 week holiday in August for a family with teenagers. House was very comfortable with all mod cons. Very clean and well cared for. Location is quiet (2 miles from nearest shop) but a pleasant walk to nearby Garrison. A great base from which to explore the area. Situated on Lough Melvin which is great if you are into fishing but possibly not great if you have young children. Good walks / bike rides in the area. Owners are helpful and friendly - we would definitely recommend the property.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in Rossmore Cottage. This is a new venture for us so it is really valuable for us to receive feedback. It means that will continue to provide quality and also make improvements if guests deem necessary. Thanks again and hopefully you will consider staying at Rossmore in the future.

"beautiful house and surroundings"
We stayed at Rossmore Cottage last week and what a beautiful house. Could not ask for a better place to stay. My elderly parents came with us and having a bedroom downstairs with and en suite was such a help. We had a very relaxing week in the serene surroundings with the lough at the front of the house and it could be seen from the back of house as well. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Would definitley be back. Thanks
Heather thank you for taking the time to leave a review on Rossmore Cottage. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again.
