Together with the adjacent villages of Crovie and Pennan it has proved to be a sought after film and TV location due to it's natural beauty and heritage. It is also in close proximity to a number of great visitor attractions, golf clubs, whisky trail and much more.

The village itself has a pub, shop, restaurant and art/craft gallery with tearoom. For those who want to stay in touch with the outside - free WIFI is available in the cottage. We are also 'Pet Friendly!.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

There are numerous activities for enthusiasts of all kinds, walking, fishing, birdwatching, seatrips to observe the staggering array of wildlife to name but a few. There are also many cultural and visitor centres which provide a wealth of information and a great deal of fun.

Gardenstown

Gardenstown

The small village harbour is full of small boats and is a main focus of the village. There are local festivals organised throughout the summer. A lovely restaurant is located on the harbour itself. Booking is advised. Boat sightseeing and fishing trips are also available directly from the harbour.

The beach lies to the west of the village where adults and children alike can enjoy walking, exploring or generally relaxing. There are two streams that run down from the cliffs into the sea. Dolphins, and sometimes even whales, can often be seen in the bay. Puffins, herons and an abundance of other bird life have made the beach and surrounding cliffs their home. At the far end you can walk up the hillside to the historic St Johns Churchyard, said to have originated in 1004, which sits proudly overlooking Gardenstown. The churchyard can also be accessed by road on the outskirts of the village.

The local pub sits at the end of the Main Street where you can enjoy a leisurely drink in a traditional atmosphere. Food is also served. There is also a shop at the top of the village where you can pick up any essentials.

“Lovely relaxing holiday”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2013

I would recommend this cottage for a relaxing holiday. We took our dog and lots if walks on the beach . The cottage was lovely and had everything you could think of for use there. It was a nice idea of providing imperishable items and just asking guests to replace anything that ran out. Gardenstown itself the people there are so friendly we felt like one of the locals. Nearby crovie is lovely to walk to just on the cliff bottom. Harbour restaurant is a must but book way in advance.
