“lovely house, really well equipped, idyllic surroundings, perfect getaway!”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2014

This house has everything, from lovely bathroom with free standing bath, shower room downstairs, dining table for 8, cosy living room, with well equipped fitted kitchen from microwave to popcorn maker, sandwich toaster, big fridge freezer, plenty of utensils/crockery etc. utility area perfect for returning from our day at Harlech beach, to dust off all the sand and sort wet swimsuits etc. All the bedrooms are big double rooms, and the beds are soooooo comfy!!!! better than at home, slept like a log. local amenties are 5 min drive down the round. The house is surrounded by fields, nice waking and seeing all the lambs running around! Did loads from quad biking, segway, Port meirion, horse riding on beach, visited Barmouth, stolled around Dolgellau, Tree tops adventure. Good base to stay at as only half hour to most activities.

Thank you for your lovely comments, I hope you can come back and visit again soon.

“Great host, great house, great area”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2014

Even on a week of winter storms we enjoyed a great week at Ty Coch. The owner was really helpful, the house was cosy and well equipped for seven of us. The area is outstanding and we got some great walks in despite the rain, around Rhaeadr Ddu, Camlan, Coed y Brenin, and endured a sandstorm on a deserted Barmouth beach. Cadair Idris as a backdrop too! Absolutely loved it!

Thank you for your review, I hope you can come back to visit again in the future.

“Perfectly Placed House”

Reviewed 21 May 2013

Just returned from a long weekend break here to celebrate my lovely Mother-in-Law's 80th Birthday. What a lovely surprise for her as we swung into the drive - she looked thrilled and said "are we staying here"?!! There were 5 adults and 2 dogs and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here. The house was cosy, well equipped and comfortable (beds were divine!), and the garden / patio area out the back overlooking the hills with the sheep and lambs just over the fence - was delightful. So nice to sit there for breakfast and in the evening for drinks, watching the sun go down over the brow - very relaxing! The house was so well placed for exploring the Mawddach Estuary which was a few minutes drive away, with its fabulous views, walks and pubs etc. If you don't mind heights, try the Precipice Walk which, once you drive up to it, is relatively flat, takes in the most fabulous views of the estuary right down to Barmouth Bridge and the sea. Even my Mother-in-Law did it and loved it. Spent a few hours on Barmouth Beach which is simply awesome with the backdrop of Snowdonia and the lovely dunes, beach and local eateries - very special! Close to loads of other good places to visit if you don't want to stay and walk / cycle around the very beautiful immediate area. TIP: If you like waterfalls and don't mind a little incline - go to the black tin Village Hall to the right of the property and there is a lovely waterfall within the woods to walk alongside!

Thank you for your kind words, I hope you can come back again with your Mother-in-Law in the future.

“Second time round, just as perfect :)”

Reviewed 1 May 2013

This is the second stay at ty coch, we were hoping for another week but due to unforeseen circumstances the owner let us change plans last minute so we enjoyed a lovely relaxing weekend. The house was lovely and warm on arrival and is more than well equipped. We took a day out to Harlech which isn't far from the house (best driving I ever did up the very very steep hill to the castle, proud of myself!) and after a good walk around the town, a trip inside the castle and then lunch, we went to she'll island beach, again not far. Perfect time of year to collect thousands of shells, which we did! We came back to the house and cooked a gorgeous dinner and snuggled up on the hugest ever sofa with Britain's got talent then a film. Perfect! As I prob said last time, the bath in this house is to die for. So opulent and tranquil! The sheep on the side of the house had all had lambs, so cute and gorgeous to wake up and watch in the morning! We were able to leave late Sunday which meant another full day. We had a fab time and I am hoping to be able to go back again, for longer next time!

Thank you for your review and you are welcome back again any time in the future.

“Great location for a family gathering but freezing cold on arrival”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2013

This house is in a great location for access to all the best walks in this region. Although its on a main road it is not noisy and we were lucky enough to see the young lambs in the fields surrounding the house. There are also great views from the house. However there is no back garden as such so would not recommend this house for a summer holiday with kids. The only problem with the property was the fact that the downstairs shower room and WC in the utility area was unheated and the only heater provided was totally inadequate. Also when we arrived at the property it was freezing cold and it took hours for the house to heat up after we had switched on the heating - I can't imagine why the owner had not considered switching this on earlier for us so that our arrival at the property was more welcoming!

Thank you for your review, the heating is on a timer and i will make sure the heating comes on a few hours before the guests arrive in the future.

“Lovely house in a perfect place!!”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2013

The house is large, cosy and well-equipped, we had everything we might need! The location is perfect to explore North Wales, close to all attractions and castles we planned to visit. The owner, Dr Gareth, was very helpful, we got prompt replies to all our questions! We will come back for sure and will strongly recommend this nice property to our friends!!! We really felt home away from home!

Thank you for your kind comments, you and your friends are welcome back any time.

“wow what an amazing house”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2012

wow i love this house its homely and cosy with lots of space, the location is perfect for lovely walks very close to the house, we felt so at home here we didnt want to leave and as soon as we got home we looked online to see when its available for next year. The owner had left loads of leaflets and info on things to do around snowdonia which was great as we wouldnt of known about all of these things, on a whole we loved it and would recomend it to anyone. love it love it love it

Thank you for your review and I look forward to welcoming you back next year.

“Beautiful, welcoming and well-equipped. Very dog-friendly!”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2012

This beautiful house felt like home for two weeks, the owner was so accommodating, it's the first time I've ever felt like my dog was actually welcome in a rented cottage and that meant such a lot. The house itself was lovely. With a cosy living room (with Sky+ HD, no less!), a spacious bathroom and a truly stunning and well equipped kitchen. The location was spectacular, make sure you visit the Black Falls, just behind the house, I've never seen a more awe-inspiring place. We loved nearby Barmouth and visited on a few occasions. Dr. Jones was incredibly friendly and helpful in our correspondance and a pleasure to deal with, even returning my camera when I stupidly left it behind.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I hope you can come back to visit again in the future.

“Lovely large house in great location”

Reviewed 20 Feb 2012

A lovely house in great location, Just a couple of minutes from some beautiful walks. We were very grateful for the late checkout and also the friendly approach from the owner, allowing us to take both our dogs (who had a fab time). Overall a great weekend away. Would definately recommend.

Thank you for your positive comments and i hope you and the dogs come back to visit again sometime.

“Lovely house, great location!”

Reviewed 2 Nov 2011

We have just had a great week at Ty Coch, myself, my husband and our 3 children. The house is very well equipped and very comfortable. There was so much to do around the area with some fantastic walks. We especially enjoyed orienteering and geo-caching in Coed y Brenin, 1.5 miles down the road from the house. The owner of the property was brilliant with any queries we had, they were answered fully and quickly by e-mail. This is a property we would definately consider going back to as both the house and the area had everything we wanted for a relaxing break.

Thanks for your great comments and I'm glad you enjoyed all that Coed y Brenin and the local area had to offer. I hope you come back and visit again.
