“Way to Go!”

We travelled to Ireland with our 4 grown children/significant others etc. This place was really well located. Took the train into Galway..we were able to take the bus back out.. kids were able to take a cab..It was great. Can walk into the town and go for a pint, listen to music, watch dancing.. etc. Anthenry is a GREAT town - good food, great people .. Owner is very accommodating, place has everything you need, plenty of parking, safe - can't say enough - was great!!! PERFECT!!

“A heartwarming host and a beautiful house!”

My family, girlfriend and I stayed at this house during part of our tour of Europe; three days in Ireland. Ray and his friend were waiting for us at the train station. They had a very warm greeting and immediately made us feel at home. When we arrived at the house they had ready for us a meal of 2 cooked chickens, salad, fresh bread and wine, which we really needed after 2 straight days of travel. He has a nice binder of info to get you started in the town of Athenry and Galway with food, pubs, music, sightseeing and other services. On his recommendation we went to Clifden which was absolutely lovely. The house was spacious and well furnished, there are many beautiful rooms and the beds were very comfortable. The area was extremely convenient by the train station, but also very quiet, with no road noise, etc. Checkout was simple: Ray gave us our deposit the day before we left and we made sure to load the dishes into the dishwasher, put the used sheets/towels on the floor and take out our trash.

“Can't wait to do it again”

Next time we will rent the Bamba House for a week and travel to other places from there, There was eleven of us and we all had our space and we love the set up of the house, very spacious and elegant. The owner Ray made us feel at home and made our stay a very memorable one, we can not say enough about all his help, before we got to Ireland and his attention to detail while we where there. Anybody reading this post please feel free to contact me with any questions on this property.

Ray was a great host, and the welcome meal was so appreciated as we had travelled a long day from SW Cork to Athenry. Loved the historic town and Ray's place was close to everything there plus close to the train and bus services. House was very elegant with nice beds and baths.

Stayed at the wonderful, stately Banba House with a large group (9 adults) for an extended St. Patrick's Day weekend. Ray was a perfect host, providing plenty of email help in advance of our visit, and always on call when we were there. He provided us with a lovely dinner on the day of our arrival, which was a very nice touch. He was able to help us with several inquiries over the course of our stay, by being available by phone, and in person (and very quickly in the latter case). The house was huge, and lushly decorated. There is a great little kitchen for cooking meals for all (and cozy sitting room just adjacent), a nice big dining table in a lovely dining room, a cozy larger living room (with a fire place, which we made full use of!), and a selection of bedrooms upstairs and down. All beds were reported to be comfy, bedding was provided as were towels, and the two separate bathrooms were appreciated by our large group. The Athenry location is great for exploring the countryside (rental/own car recommended for this), and city excursions into Galway, which is easily reached by train, car, or bus. Ray was very helpful with advice on train and bus times. Furthermore, Banba House was almost within sight of the local Athenry train station - not at all a problem noise-wise, and very convenient for transport. Our group arrived from and departed to Dublin from this station. An absolute breeze! Furthermore, the shops, restaurants and pubs of Athenry are easily reached on foot in just a few minutes. During the course of a stay full of plus-points, the only (very minor) negatives were the fact that the house was a bit cold (and damp) - but this may be the nature of older Irish homes. However, the central heating and fireplace in the large living room helped somewhat with this. Also, there didn't appear to be a TV or DVD player, which may be wanted by some guests. All in all, absolutely recommended for a genuine Irish getaway - especially for larger groups (5 or 6+ people - smaller groups may feel the place is a bit large). Enjoy this lovely home and the wonderful Irish hospitality!

I do try to make a visit to Banba special and memorable as possible, and I agree that its very important to provide true and accurate information on all aspects of your proposed trip to Galway. Certainly in winter and in early spring from December to March, you would need to light at least one of the three fires when you get here to give the oil fired central heating that extra boost as was needed during your time in March this year, noted by our Met office,as being one of Ireland's most un-favourable winter months in some years with constant heavy rain and cold wintery nights. After all, whats more fantastic than a few hot toddies surrounded by the laughter of great friends snuggled up in front of a roaring fire on a cold winters night with the rain beating down on the outside of the windows especially when your on holiday in Galway.
