“The perfect retreat!”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2013

This is a little gem in a beautiful area of Tuscany. The standard of accommodation is extremely high and the house and well maintained gardens are spotless. Every comfort has been taken into account by the owners to ensure that their visitors enjoy a peaceful, relaxing and worry free holiday. This house is so idyllic that we did not move for a week - by the end of the second week we wished we had booked a third! Sauro and Julie could not have been more helpful and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you want peace and serenity and to return home after your holiday having had a good rest - this is the place for you!! As well as being excellent value for money - there are no 'hidden' extras which you often find with many other properties in Italy eg final cleaning, gas, electricity charges etc. We are reluctant to write such a sparkling review in case we cannot get into the accommodation again in the future!! We will definitely return. Thank you Sauro and Julie.

“Villa Elicriso is a Gem of Villa hidden in the Garfagnana mountains.”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2012

We had the most amazing time at Villa Elicriso with the most outstanding view from villa overlooking the Garfagnana Mountains. A beautiful Villa with everthing you could possibly need and spotlessly clean. Sauro and Julie were extremely helpful and generous with their hospitality without being intrusive. Italy is an amazing place that you can never tire of and we hope to return soon. 10/10 from our family.

“Very peaceful and relaxing with great mountainside views”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

This is a great spot if you like peace and quiet, being 10 mins out of the local town up a twisty mountain road - don't rent a minivan! Chieva is a hamlet of about 5 houses and only 2 or 3 others are inhabited. The house is nice, new, and well equipped - very clean and some nice thoughtful touches. Sauro and Julie were great hosts, living in a nearby village. Having English speaking help at hand if we needed it was reassuring. We enjoyed stretching out in the sun, dipping in the pool, watching the Olympics on the BBC :) and walking in the hills - didn't do much sightseeing this trip, as this is a little north of many of the major Tuscan sights and we came to 'chill', but we did enjoy Lucca.

“Awesome location!”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2012

The location of this villa is just AMAZING! Italy has to be the most beautiful country in the world and Villa Elicriso is well situated to explore part of it. It's a wonderful feeling to wake up in the morning and the first thing you see on opening your eyes are the lush tree covered mountains opposite. The villa has everything that you could wish for and is impeccably clean. The garden is very private. As a result of all of this, my wife and I can honestly say that we had the most relaxing holiday ever. We will definitely be going back!

“Beauty, peace and quiet”

Reviewed 16 Feb 2012

We have now spent three summer holidays in this beautiful peaceful house in the hills opposite Barga. There are many local attractions including the fascinating caves (go early for the best experience), medieval villages, strolls in the Orechiella mountains... And then of course Barga which is a little known gem of a town with one of the best views in the whole of Italy from the cathedral's terrace. Sauro and Julie are very friendly, welcoming hosts who live in nearby Gallicano and make sure that our every need is catered for. The house is super-clean and the pretty garden provides ample interest for our young daughter in the shape of flowers, lizards and the mini pool which is big enough to have a splash around in. The garden has a fence around so is very safe. The house is part of a small hamlet and is reached by a steep hill road. There is an excellent very large supermarket 10 minutes drive from the house which is open all day every day. At night there is a stunning view of the night sky, thoroughly recommended!
