From the owner

Casa della Lavanda is a romantic stone house sleeping 5 + 2 (double sofa bed) in the historic and picturesque village of Sommocolonia near Barga. A recent Italian visitor has described it as "un vero paradiso!" - A real paradise.

With magnificent views of Barga and the valley, this holiday home offers relaxation, the countryside, a taste of the Italian way of life and is perfect for a relaxing get away from it all holiday.

It is in the perfect spot for travelling to other Tuscan towns such as Florence, Siena, Lucca, Pisa and the coastal towns of Torre del Lago, Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi

There is a complimentary hamper of food with wine on arrival to help you settle in and relax so you don't have to do the shopping straight away and our artisan made lavender products are available for you to use.

Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, one a double, the other a triple both with wardrobes and views of Barga and the valley below. There is a bathroom with bath, shower, bidet, basin and wc.

Downstairs off the hall is the sitting room with double sofa bed, chair, and stereo. There is a traditional Tuscan fire place for romantic evenings by the fire.

The kitchen is modern in style with cooker, fridge and cupboards. There is a large round table seating five persons.

The kitchen opens onto the sunny balcony with table and chairs and stunning views of Barga below and the valley. You can while away the afternoons after lunch or dinner, with a glass of wine taking in the ever-changing vistas as the light changes.

Downstairs from the hall is the main cantina (cellar) which is mainly used for storage but where there is a sofa and some children's games. The cantina leads onto a paved patio area which is quiet and shaded. Off the patio, there is another cantina which houses the washing machine.

Down from the patio is a paved garden with a long table seating eight persons.

The garden is under a grape vine covered pergola with a border of fragrant lavender and roses and is perfect for evening dining by the candle light of the hanging lanterns and has, of course, the wonderful views down to Barga.

Casa della Lavanda has been said by locals to have the best views in the village.

Amazing View
Jul 2014

Great place to stay with an amazing view from the bedroom and the balcony. We have stayed in many places in and around Barga and this was one of the best.
