Location description from owner

The Scotland region

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Gairloch

The village is a spectacular base from which to explore the outstanding natural beauty of Wester Ross, a highland wilderness made up of dramatic mountains, sea lochs and long, clean sandy beaches. The world famous sub-tropical Inverewe Garden, owned by the National Trust for Scotland, is only 6 miles away and offers a fascinating experience' at all times of the year. Gairloch village also boasts an award winning Heritage museum with the old Rua Reidh lighthouse and many other fascinating exhibits - all housed in a restored farm building. Gairloch's popular 9-hole golf course is situated nearby, close to the beautiful golden-sanded beach. A haven for wildlife, including whales, porpoises, seals and sea-otters, Loch Gairloch is also a bird-spotter's paradise. There are sea fishing and wildlife cruises available from the harbour allowing you to take in the scenery and enjoy wildlife in its natural habitat.
