“Breathtaking location (- if you like whale-watching from the sofa!)”

Reviewed 23 Nov 2011

This is a beautiful, well-presented & fully-equipped cottage in the most stunning location imaginable - whether it's the private beach-access, the view (literally) over the sea to Skye or the occasional eagle-sighting from the kitchen-window you will not be disappointed. Whilst the cottage itself is as peaceful as possible the tiny village of Melvaig is home to a lovely, lively inn with log fires, fresh local produce and advice about basking-shark and otter-watching on tap. You can drive into Gairloch past the vista of the Torridon mountains for a seafood dinner or head down the coast to walk along the seacliffs of Rua Reidh if you prefer peace and quiet - I'd recommend trying it all. The good news is if Raasay is booked her sister cottage Rona is equally impressive!
