Location description from owner

The Yorkshire region

Situated within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, Fylingthorpe is surrounded by beautiful countryside waiting to be explored, and is within a mere 10 minute walk (just over half a mile) from the little fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay, and just 6 miles from Whitby.

The whole area is a wonderful holiday destination, and you will never be stuck for things to do and places to explore. Being on the route of both the Cleveland Way National Trail, and the Coast to Coast Walk, there are many fabulous scenic walks to be taken nearby. Families looking for a beach holiday are able to enjoy the lovely beach in Robin Hood's Bay where children can enjoy playing in the sand, exploring the rock-pools and hunting for fossils.

Fylingthorpe

Locally in Fylingthorpe itself, amenities include a butcher / baker, church, playground / park and excellent Public House.

Located just over half a mile from the property is the quaint little fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay. Leave the car behind and mooch through the narrow cobbled streets and passages, and enjoy the tea shops, craft and gift shops, sea walls, village pubs, tennis courts, putting and bowling greens. The bay has a very colourful history from becoming the busiest smuggling community on the Yorkshire coast in the 18th century. Today, it remains a gem; unspoilt through the passage of time.

Robin Hood's Bay is perched on the edge of a miles-wide sweeping bay from Ness Point to Ravenscar, surrounded by lofty cliffs. It's pretty cottages with red pantile roofs huddle around the slipway at the foot of a steep ravine. It is the most charming and popular coastal village of the North Yorkshire Moors.

Whitby, famous for Captain James Cook and Dracula, is within easy reach and a local bus service runs daily from Fylingthorpe.

Detailed information on all local attractions and must-see places is provided in the welcome pack in the property.

We had a brilliant holiday. Ivanhoe is so lovely that we were trying to work out dates for our next visit before we left.... We were warm and cosy when at Ivanhoe and its so well kitted out that we wanted for nothing. We loved the area all around and if you can fall for a location in that weather (freezing driving winds and snow showers), then you know you have found a great place to return to.
