Location description from owner

The Algarve region

The Algarve is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Every year tourists in their thousands flock to the south of Portugal to soak up the sun and relax in this European paradise. The Algarve is full of history and heritage. Standing today are buildings and walls dating back to the Roman times. You are never far from a museum or guided tour to allow you to gain a more in depth insight into the evolution of this beautiful region. The Algarve has the best all round climate in the whole of Europe and can boast more sunshine hours than California!Typically temperatures range from 16º-17º in January and February, to 22º in October whilst in August it may be 29º-30º or higher. Temperatures never fall below zero. For more details on the weather you can expect, visit this site:http://www.rentinthealgarve.co.uk/weather_history_in_europe_june_to_november_2011.htmlWith over 100 miles of beautiful cliff faces and extensive golden beaches, the Algarve offers one of the most dramatic coastlines in the world. There is something for everyone, a relaxing day at an intimate cove, walking along the golden beaches, joining in with the water sports or just taking in the many different sight seeing tours in the local towns.

Fuseta

Fuzeta (also spelt Fuseta) is a small town near the lagoon 'Ria Formosa', which is in the nature reserve of the Eastern Algarve. In former times Fuzeta was an old fishing village. Fishing boats leave from one end of the quay; small pleasure boats and the ferry to the island from the other. Fuzeta is just 20 minutes drive away from Tavira - a charming old town described as 'the jewel of the Eastern Algarve'. It is also just a 30 minute drive from Faro airport and with an excellent motorway connecting the Western Algarve to Spain, you are never far from anywhere. The Spanish border is approximately 45 minutes drive away and Lisbon can be reached in 3½ hours. For some reason there are two train stations, Fuzeta A (the nearest) and Fuzeta. The town lies on the Algarve Ecoway - the coastal foot and cycle path - along which you can now walk east to Arroteia, Pinheiro and beyond, or west to Bias and on to Olhão.Fuzeta is the ideal location for anyone looking for beautiful beaches, golf, fishing, bird watching, mountains and history. There are two beach options - the town beach by the harbour with clear, calm, shallow waters which is great at high tide and perfect for toddlers who don't like waves; or take a short boat ride to the very long and lovely ocean beach on the island 'Ilha de Armona' where there are beautiful dunes and rolling waves for which the Eastern Algarve is famous. Fuzeta has a street market on Thursdays and a flea market on the first Sunday of every month. There is a newly renovated produce market situated on the quay which is open every morning, except Sundays, where you can buy fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. On Saturdays the market is surrounded by many smaller stalls offering further local produce. “Perfect relaxing getaway in authentic Potuguese fishing village”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

We stayed 6 nights in Fuzeta, and enjoyed every minute of it. Alan and Chris arranged a driver (English expat) to transfer us to/from the airport, and despite landing at 10:30pm, he still gave us a quick tour of the village before dropping us off, which really helped us get our bearings, and find things we might have stuggled with otherwise (such as the ticket office for the island ferry.) Welcome pack of bread, milk, teabags etc. was a nice touch as we were hungry after the flight. Apartment had everything we could have possibly asked for. The two-level pool is in a separate area across the road from the apartment (accessed via a keycard) and we were often the only ones there. In June it got the sun until around 8pm (on the top level). The village is beautiful and doesn't feel touristy at all. Plenty of good, cheap restaurants with great food (we recommend the Tapas, Scandinavian, and Crispim's). The lagoon beach is lovely, and not too crowded in June (although busier at high-tide due to lack of beach-space!) For a couple of euros you can get the ferry to the island of Armona (on the other side of the lagoon), where you can take your pick of empty beach along the 6km or so beach front! We walked all the way along the island, then got the ferry to Olhão and got the train home (check ferry times from the island to Olhão, as they only go around every 2 hours, unlike the Fuzeta one, which is much more regular). Most people in the town speak at least some English, but I'd recommend learning some basic phrases and things like numbers etc, just to avoid embarassment. Phrase book and dictionary are provided in the apartment. Overall, one of the best holidays I've had, and would definitely go back. Highly recommended.

“Excellent apartment with beautiful views out to the sea.”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2012

A well designed and beautifully finshed apartment with everything you need. The key holder, and the complex staff were all very friendly and helpfull. It is just a short walk to the town; where there are supermarkets; and the railway station. Pensioners can get cheaper rail fares if they show their passports. There is a good variety of restaurants/cafes which are all excellent value for money. The train, which is cheap, can be used to go to many of the local towns and villages, many of which are still authentic Portugese. Some wonderfull beaches can be reached easily by using the train. We did not hire a car and really did not need one.

“Great apartment and location, highly recommended.”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2012

The apartment is first class and had everything we needed with the added bonus of meeting Christine and Alan the owners. Although only February the weather was great and we were able to relax on the pool terrace in the sun every afternoon. We also loved Fuseta - our kind of place. No frills, no hotels or clubs just simple bars and restuarants with no one trying to rip you off. We don't do "Posh" when on holiday! A visit on the train to Olhao and it's fish and vegetable markets is a must. We ate out everyday and drank quite a bit (as you do on holiday) but still brought half of our euros home. Lovely people and everything is so cheap. We drank most evenings in Rias Bar, Cubanitos or Bar o'Farol and lunchtime at the beach or in the square. We ate all over but particularly liked the Tapas Cafe and Ria Pizza. Also had a great meal in Crispim's which is owned and run by the same couple who run Cubanitos. Although both OAP's we love loud live rock music so one of the highlights of the fortnight was the Wednesday night live music in Bar o'Farol with local rock star and music teacher Domingos and his young music students playing good hard rock - Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd etc. This was the last thing we expected in such a laid back, sleepy little fishing village. A great out of season break and will be returning again when the ferry to the island is running.

“Good location - basic accommodation”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2011

Great views from spacious balcony. Quiet (apart from neighbour's cockerel!) cul de sac location. Basic furnishings only in bedrooms and finishing touches needed (which I understand have since been provided). Local agent very helpful with lots of local knowledge.

“Excellent Quiet Location, Beautiful Apartment”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this excellent part of the Algarve. The location is perfect, far enough away from the centre of the village to feel secluded but close enough so not to feel isolated. It's also perfect for the train station, from where we visited the local towns of Olhao and Faro. The apartment itself it spacious and well organised, with everything that we needed to ensure our stay went perfectly. The views over the marshes and the sea was lovely, and a perfect way to wake up in the morning. The apartment is also well placed to maximize these views, but at no moment felt overlooked. The pool was a lovely place to relax during the days, and in the evening the waterfall filled the air with a pleasant ambiance. Local shops were about 10 minutes away and the restaurants are right next to them. In the evening they serve a wide range of seafood and other meats (the black pork kebab was a particular highlight) at reasonable prices. We ate out with a jug (yes jug) of house wine for just under 30 euro.
