Getting around

There are two train stations. Fuseta-A is the nearest and is an 8 minute walk from the apartment. Travel by train is economical and reliable. From Fuzeta you can travel east to the Spanish border, west to Lagos or - from Faro - get a connection to Lisbon. Fuzeta is just a 30 minute drive from Faro airport and with an excellent motorway connecting the Western Algarve to Spain, you are never far from anywhere. The Spanish border is approximately 45 minutes drive away and Lisbon can be reached in 3½ hours. Fuzeta lies on the Algarve Ecovia - a coastal foot and cycle path - along which you can walk east to Arroteia, Pinheiro and beyond, or west towards Olhao.

Very Good

“Great location with a balcony ideal for relaxing and enjoying the view. Pool on the doorstep, definately worth a revisit”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2017

Located on the edge of town, quite but with only15 minutes walk of restaurants and beach. Excellent authentic Portuguese restaurants many with very reasonable fresh fish dishes. We ate out every night and would be happy to re-visit each restaurant. Were else could you have 2 bottles of beer and a large wine for 4 Euros? The apartment is new, clean and modern with all the facilities you need plus any bits you may need to borrow for the beach, owners very responsive and helpful with any information requests. Access is easy by train from Faro we did not bother with a car, even travelling onto Lisbon by train for less than 12 Euros first class.

“Beautiful Location”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2017

This is a beautiful apartment in a lovely quiet location. The views down to the Ria Formosa are spectacular. The owners have left binoculars to view all the wildlife. This is a five star accommodation and the owners have thought of everything to make your holiday complete. There is a handbook with maps and recommendations for trips around the area. You are only five minutes walk away from the train station which takes you all along the Algarve. Fuseta is a lovely fishing village with the most spectacular beach you could find anywhere. The people are so friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this apartment to anyone.

“Good base for touring the Algarve”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2017

We had a very nice time. Alan and Christine were easy to deal with through email, and Alet was pleasant as she showed us the unit. The location is an easy stroll into the town, with lovely walks available. The unit was clean and spacious. Alan and Christine warned us that the living room air conditioner was not working, but that the bedroom units were working. This was plenty of cooling for April, because we could keep the windows open during the day, but it would be helpful to have that unit working in the hotter months. We used this as our home base for touring all around the Algarve, and it served us very well.

Owner's reply: Thanks for taking the time to write a review Steve. The air conditioning unit was only out of use temporarily as the engineers were not available to effect a repair before your arrival. All units will be in use, as usual, for the rest of the season.

“A real find”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2016

We arrived by train at Fuseta A station and walked for less than ten minutes to the apartment, following the directions given to us by owners Chris and Alan. Alet from the leisure centre met us as promised with the keys and showed us round the apartment. The apartment has large, glass windows to the front which overlooked the Ria Formosa and is spotlessly clean As we had travelled with hand luggage only, a washing machine and supply of beach towels came in handy. We paid £1 a day to use the wifi which is very fast and the apartment has British TV channels. Although the apartment has air conditioning, Chris and Alan have installed fly screens on all the windows allowing them to be left open overnight. There are two small pools at the leisure centre just over the road and plenty of available loungers with cushions. The apartment is a ten minute walk from the town where there are numerous places to eat and drink, many serving freshly caught fish at reasonable prices. The small square came alive at night, and some evenings had live music on. We are keen walkers and the owners gave us a couple of lovely walks around the Ria Formosa which started from the apartment. We did these early morning and saw lots of bird life. There are some really good paths and cycle ways. We would hire a bike next time but we felt the weather was too hot for cycling. Fuseta has a lovely town beach, where the water is shallow for children and also has a good beach bar. A ferry can be taken to Armona Island beach which is very long and from there you can walk to Olhao which takes around 90 minutes. Even though it was August, we saw very few people further along the beach whilst walking. The apartment has beach mats, umbrellas etc to take to the beach so there is really no need to hire beds, which at 15€ for two and an umbrella we thought were expensive. We felt Fuseta was a lovely, authentic, Portugese fishing town and would definitely stay here again in this lovely apartment. Chris and Alan have thought of everything in the apartment and are so easy to deal with.

“Perfect relaxing getaway in authentic Potuguese fishing village”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2013

We stayed 6 nights in Fuzeta, and enjoyed every minute of it. Alan and Chris arranged a driver (English expat) to transfer us to/from the airport, and despite landing at 10:30pm, he still gave us a quick tour of the village before dropping us off, which really helped us get our bearings, and find things we might have stuggled with otherwise (such as the ticket office for the island ferry.) Welcome pack of bread, milk, teabags etc. was a nice touch as we were hungry after the flight. Apartment had everything we could have possibly asked for. The two-level pool is in a separate area across the road from the apartment (accessed via a keycard) and we were often the only ones there. In June it got the sun until around 8pm (on the top level). The village is beautiful and doesn't feel touristy at all. Plenty of good, cheap restaurants with great food (we recommend the Tapas, Scandinavian, and Crispim's). The lagoon beach is lovely, and not too crowded in June (although busier at high-tide due to lack of beach-space!) For a couple of euros you can get the ferry to the island of Armona (on the other side of the lagoon), where you can take your pick of empty beach along the 6km or so beach front! We walked all the way along the island, then got the ferry to Olhão and got the train home (check ferry times from the island to Olhão, as they only go around every 2 hours, unlike the Fuzeta one, which is much more regular). Most people in the town speak at least some English, but I'd recommend learning some basic phrases and things like numbers etc, just to avoid embarassment. Phrase book and dictionary are provided in the apartment. Overall, one of the best holidays I've had, and would definitely go back. Highly recommended.

“Excellent apartment with beautiful views out to the sea.”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2012

A well designed and beautifully finshed apartment with everything you need. The key holder, and the complex staff were all very friendly and helpfull. It is just a short walk to the town; where there are supermarkets; and the railway station. Pensioners can get cheaper rail fares if they show their passports. There is a good variety of restaurants/cafes which are all excellent value for money. The train, which is cheap, can be used to go to many of the local towns and villages, many of which are still authentic Portugese. Some wonderfull beaches can be reached easily by using the train. We did not hire a car and really did not need one.

“Great apartment and location, highly recommended.”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2012

The apartment is first class and had everything we needed with the added bonus of meeting Christine and Alan the owners. Although only February the weather was great and we were able to relax on the pool terrace in the sun every afternoon. We also loved Fuseta - our kind of place. No frills, no hotels or clubs just simple bars and restuarants with no one trying to rip you off. We don't do "Posh" when on holiday! A visit on the train to Olhao and it's fish and vegetable markets is a must. We ate out everyday and drank quite a bit (as you do on holiday) but still brought half of our euros home. Lovely people and everything is so cheap. We drank most evenings in Rias Bar, Cubanitos or Bar o'Farol and lunchtime at the beach or in the square. We ate all over but particularly liked the Tapas Cafe and Ria Pizza. Also had a great meal in Crispim's which is owned and run by the same couple who run Cubanitos. Although both OAP's we love loud live rock music so one of the highlights of the fortnight was the Wednesday night live music in Bar o'Farol with local rock star and music teacher Domingos and his young music students playing good hard rock - Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd etc. This was the last thing we expected in such a laid back, sleepy little fishing village. A great out of season break and will be returning again when the ferry to the island is running.

“Good location - basic accommodation”

Great views from spacious balcony. Quiet (apart from neighbour's cockerel!) cul de sac location. Basic furnishings only in bedrooms and finishing touches needed (which I understand have since been provided). Local agent very helpful with lots of local knowledge.

“Excellent Quiet Location, Beautiful Apartment”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this excellent part of the Algarve. The location is perfect, far enough away from the centre of the village to feel secluded but close enough so not to feel isolated. It's also perfect for the train station, from where we visited the local towns of Olhao and Faro. The apartment itself it spacious and well organised, with everything that we needed to ensure our stay went perfectly. The views over the marshes and the sea was lovely, and a perfect way to wake up in the morning. The apartment is also well placed to maximize these views, but at no moment felt overlooked. The pool was a lovely place to relax during the days, and in the evening the waterfall filled the air with a pleasant ambiance. Local shops were about 10 minutes away and the restaurants are right next to them. In the evening they serve a wide range of seafood and other meats (the black pork kebab was a particular highlight) at reasonable prices. We ate out with a jug (yes jug) of house wine for just under 30 euro.
