The Algarve region
The Eastern Algarve is the lesser touristic side of the Algarve -miles of unspoilt beaches and full of local life and typical charming fishing villages.
Fuseta is a small fishing village forming part of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. A five minute ferry ride will take you to the stunning Armona Beach. The landscape is wonderful for bird watching. Fuseta has all the amenities you may require with shops, markets, cafes and the traditional Portuguese restaurants.
The picturesque town of Tavira is close by(20km) and is classed as the capital of the Eastern Algarve. Olhao is also well worth a visit (7kms) and famous for its fish restaurants along the promenade.
Fuseta has two beaches. The first, which the locals call “Praia dos Tesos”, is a small beach on the lagoon in the town itself. Families with small children will appreciate it as being in the lagoon it is wave free and very safe, it also has very easy access and cafés which are open virtually all year. The water is also always a little warmer than the beaches facing the open sea.and at low tide you will see the locals collecting shellfish from the mud flats.
Fuseta's other beach is on Ilha de Armona, the sand island separating the lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean. You can also swim here on the lagoon side without waves. However, the 'real' Fuseta beach is on the Atlantic side. Close to the landing pier there are cafés, parasols and sun loungers for rent, life-guards and public facilities. This area can be quite busy in August, however, the beach extends left and right for several kilometers and those seeking some more peace and privacy can walk for five, ten, twenty minutes or more and find as
much beach to themselves as they wish.
During the summer season there are ferry boats every 20 minutes or so that take you to the island beach (return trip costs €1.5) and all year around there are Taxi boats available to take & pick you from the most beautiful & secluded beach spots.

Very good and specious apartment with good furniture and well located. AC only in the living room, in September was not problem with that, but I wonder how it would be in July/August. No wifi or internet. OK solution provided by the admin was a vodafone wifi, we add 15 euros and it almost lasts our whole vacation, but we didn't use that much. No special channels at he TV. No heated pool, so was super cold water.

"Beautiful clean apartment"
We had never booked online this way before and were a bit worried as to what we would find but the photos and description in the advert are exactly as the apartment is!. The ground floor was great as we didn't have to worry about the children on the terrace and the pool area was clean and very safe. Fuseta is a great little place not too touristy and the kids loved going on the ferry to the islands. We spent a lot of time in the square on a night as the protuguese are very welcoming of children in restaurantes and it was only a 5 minute walk. We didn't realise that it is a nature reserve so it was a bonus to see beautiful birds as we wandered around Fuseta. The train station nearby is great to go to Olhao & Tavira the next towns although we did intend to go further we found it hard to drag ourselves from the pool most days. Great holiday and congratulations to the owner for decorating it so nicely when it's rented out.

"Lovely spacious apartment close to all amenities"
Stayed in this apartment July/August 2013 with my husband and three children. It is a lovely bright spacious apartment. The apartment is approx 7 minutes walk to the beach and there are lots of cafes/bars and restaurant in the area. There is a train station very close by and there really is no need to hire a car. This is an ideal place to come and have a relaxing holiday. Just be warned there is a rooster(or two) in the neighbouring property!!
