“Perfect relaxation”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2018

We stayed here previously a few years ago and decided to return. There were a few minor changes for the better, comfier sofas and pool chairs. New kitchen equipment etc. The hosts Karen and Andy are both so welcoming and friendly but not intrusive and will gladly offer advice or be on hand to help with anything that is needed. The rural location is perfect for a totally relaxing stay which is exactly what we needed. Lovely old towns and villages are a short drive away and a dip in the pool is welcome on warm days. Watching the sun go down from the terrace, we were lucky enough to see several deer roaming in the field. A perfect stay.

“The most beautiful place - can't speak highly enough about it”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2016

We had the pleasure of staying in this lovely gite in August 2016. We were four adults and two children (4 and 6). The setting of the gite is just glorious - a beautiful big pool area, overlooking rolling countryside - honestly one of the most beautiful, and certainly peaceful places I've ever stayed. The gite itself is immaculate, incredibly well appointed, and was perfect for our needs during our stay. Karen and Andy, the gite owners, live in a neighbouring property, and they were so lovely, and so helpful to us. They gave us fantastic recommendations of things to do in the local area, and were always on hand to answer any questions we had, help us with bookings, and generally be absolute legends. They really did make the holiday for us. I absolutely loved this place, and have no doubt we will be back.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your fabulous review, it was a pleasure having you here at Borie, and we look forward to seeing you again - Many thanks Karenxx & Andyxx

“A little piece of heaven in SW France”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2013

We travelled to this gite after a couple of really enjoyable but tiring days in Bordeaux. Karen and Andy were SO welcoming and we were touched that they had worried about us as we arrived a lot later than we had planned. The gite is perfect-roomy,well equipped, fantastic pool and a cool place to seek refuge from the very hot weather we had. The kids both loved it (14 year old girl and 12 year old boy) with the pool and the very comfy hammock being the highlights. Lots to do in the surrounding area and excellent advice on tap from Karen and Andy. Bikes provide a more sedate way of spotting your dream house in this picturesque part of France. If only I already knew my holiday weeks for next year we would not hesitate in a repeat booking! Thank you so much Karen and Andy (the kids are missing Dillon, Henry, Titch, Max, Ruby, Filou and the pony already!!!)

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your kind review we are so please that you found Borie nice and relaxing and look forward to seeing you again - thank-you!

“WHAT A GREAT TIME. VERY RELAXING”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2012

A much needed holiday for my wife and I, Gite Borie is the perfect place to come and relax and unwind, a lovely part of France, lots to do and see or just chill by the pool. The Gite is more spacious that we anticipated and the bed was very comfortable. Karen & Andy are the perfect owners. They are around if needed, but not, if not required. The Gite is very well equipped and is not overlooked and we felt at home straightaway. We were spoilt by the privacy and quiet of the view of the horses, paddocks and forest. At night we could star gaze, which we no longer seem to see in the UK......A wonderful holiday for us both to recharge our batteries, we will return! Mr & Mrs McGready

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your kind review we look forward to seeing you again :-)

“Fantastic well equipped gite in a peaceful and tranquil location”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2012

Borie was by far the best Gite we have stayed at in France. Very clean and well presented, decorated, equipped and spacious with good sized bedrooms (and very comfortable beds with good quality bedlinen). The outside terrace with metal covered gazebo overlooking the pool was perfect for staying in the shade, watching the boys in the pool and eating outside. Gas Fired BBQ was absolutely fantastic and something we would definately recommend for other gite owners looking at this but also for guests! Private Pool was a good size and benefitted from direct access and visibility from the gite - unlike some other gites we have stayed at. Dogs are welcome with prior agreement which is very helpful to us but no smells or evidence - proof that dogs and pets can be accommodated with no problem and that there are responsible pet owners out there aswell!!! Would definately go back and recommend with no hesitation.

Owner's reply: Many thanks for you kind review - really appreciated and very helpful - Thank-you!

“Friendly, very relaxing holiday - good food, great company.”

We stayed in Karen and Andy's B&B in Devon on several occasions which was the best and friendliest B&B we have ever stayed in and could not fault. Since they have left Devon we have not been able to find a B&B to match. The standard was equivalent to a 4 star hotel, but cheaper. We have just returned from a week in Le Hameau de Borie which all five members of our party really enjoyed. The gite is the nicest one we have ever stayed in and the pool was always beautifully clean and the right temperature to swim in. Karen and Andy are brilliant hosts and make you feel very welcome and one of the family. The dogs are never any trouble and are very friendly. We will definitely return within the near future. Andy took us on a tour of the estate in his toy which was a great adventure.

Owner's reply: Dear Ian, Anne, Becky, Hannah & Ben - It was lovely having you here for the week and lovely for you to come and find us in France after being guests at our B&B in Devon it makes us feel very special. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Borie and obviously please keep us posted for 2014 regarding the wedding but hopefully see you in France before this time - With kindest regards Karen & Andy

This is a beautifully located and a very well appointed Gite in a stunning part of France. We had a wonderful week. Karen and Andy were always on hand to ensure we had a great time. The Gite has everything you could want.We are a family of five and we had plenty of room to relax. It's set in 55 acres with some beautiful woodland walks on your doorstep. You feel in the middle of the countryside yet you are only a 1o minute drive to the Hypermarche and a very pleasant retail park. There's also loads to do. Some great places to visit and more than enough to keep the kids very happy. We didn't get to use the pool as the weather was a little wet! But we will when we next return which we will.

Owner's reply: Dear Peter & Sam & The Girls - It was lovely having you stay in the gite for your holiday and we look forward to seeing you all again in the future - Your wine will be with you sometime soon for you to enjoy in the UK - Thanks for your review Kind regards Kx & Ax

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Borie. The owners were most helpful with advice on the region. All information in the Gite was perfect. The region is steeped in history and fine gastronomic restaurants. My husband and I totally relaxed and will definitely book again.

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your review very kind and appreciated for future bookings Kx & Ax

“Excellent Property and Friendly Owners”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2011

Great gite, excellent facillities & all very clean. Made to feel very wellcome by Karen and Andy and their family of dogs, cats and horses. Karen went out of her way to arrange horse riding for our daughter and our son enjoyed the freedom of their woods. Fantastic views to gaze over while resting by the pool. Good supermarket near by and lots of places to visit if you can drag yourself away from this excellent gite. This is the first review we've ever written for a holiday which sums up how good it was.

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your very kind review it was lovely meeting you all and we hope that we will see you again sometime!

“Lovely Gite, in rural french setting, ideal for family who like to be away from the crowds.”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2011

Gite is lovely, well appointed, good kitchen and bathrooms, with sole use of the pool. The pool is not large, but was fantastic for kids (10 and 7) who were in it constantly. Karen and Andy are very friendly and very relaxed, and great with children, who followed them both around the farm. Dillon the dog, was a great hit, and spent many hours asleep on our patio. The Lot Valley is much quieter than the Dordogne, but with beautiful chateaux, towns, markets. If you are looking for a relaxed holiday, away from the crowds, in a nice gite, we would recommend this. Aileen & Stephen Ivanec

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your review we look forward to seeing you again
