Inside, the cottage is furnished and equipped to the highest standards [ including antique spanish furniture and original artworks] offering comfort, convenience and all mod cons [ games box, small library of books, films and music]. Outside, a mature grape vine shades the sunny terrace and in season you can pick fresh figs, pomegranates and almonds from the trees in the garden. For those colder months [dec- feb] there is a cosy wood burning stove/radiators and for outdoor adventure the ski slopes of the Sierra are a 90min drive away.

With numerous local walks, the landscape offers fantastic bird watching, photographic, writing and painting opportunities. Or you can simply chillout with a cold beer and a good book from the cottage library - the choice is yours!

Within a short & pleasant walk is the picturesque and unspolit village of Fuente del Conde with its own small but well stocked supermarket and great bar/restuarant 'los pajaritos' serving the best tapas and chilled beer in the area. Pretty and historic Iznajar town with its lake & sandy beach is a 10min drive away and has all the day to day amenities you require incl. museum, banks, churches, cafes, library, bakers, butchers, fishmongers and great places to eat. This is rural Andalucia at its best!

In addition, the cottage is ideally located for reaching the great Andalucian cultural cities of Granada [45mins] Malaga [50mins], Ronda [1.5hrs], Cordoba & Seville [2hrs] To make the most of your stay we recommend you hire a car - please ask us for details.

Further details outdoors

Patio, BBQ and outdoor furniture are supplied. We are trying to resist installing a pool because of the on going shortage of water in the region. All house water is pumped direct from our own fresh water well and is therefore drinkable.

The Andalucia region

Inland Andalucia is unrivalled for its hospitality, climate, stunning cities, beaches and beautiful scenery. From the cottage you are within easy reach of the famous cultural destinations of Cordoba, Granada and Malaga. Seville is a 2hr drive and you are surrounded by pretty white washed towns and villages known as 'pueblos blancos'
The nearest ski resort is in the Sierra Nevada which is a 90 min drive away. This is a stunning journey and a real opportunity to visit one of Spain's most exciting cultural destinations.

Fuente Del Conde

The local area has a wealth of real Spanish life & culture waiting to be explored. The landscape is unrivalled, at any time of the year. For everyday supplies, there is a well stocked supermarket and bakery in Fuente del Conde & a great bar/restaurant serving what we think is the best tapas in the area. Iznajar town has the convenience of banks, supermarkets, chemists, fish mongers, hardware stores & hospital. In addition there is a lovely castle, local history museum & library. Restaurants and road side 'ventas' offer simple well cooked and traditional Spanish food and there are a couple of excellent places to eat within a 5 min drive.

No visit to Andalucia would be complete without a visit [or two!] to its famous cultural cities and these are all within easy reach. More locally there is the pretty town of Priego de Cordoba, which boasts more than its fair share of Baroque churches and Antequera, with its stunning architecture, bullring & great shops. Alternatively you can get away from it all completely & visit El Torcal a uniquely ancient limestone plateau north of Antequera, for stunning walks, wild life and bird watching. The wildlife and sunsets are fabulous!

There is a sandy manmade beach on the lake at Iznajar just 10mins drive away with lovely bar/& the nearest coast line is towards Malaga which is 1hr drive away. Here there are superb beaches, restaurants & shopping areas. From the end of July the local swimming pools open & there are two particularly good ones at Villanueve de Tapia & Cuevos de San Marcos.

“what a charming little Spanish cottage for a quiet relaxing break”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2012

I stayed at his lovely Cottage for a short break with two friends, we had a lovely relaxing time, sitting on the patio looking at the olive groves, in the evenings and enjoying the friendly local bar! There is plenty to do a little further afield unless like me you just want to relax! Although we weren't totally lazy, and we had some nice local trips, - the cafes in the vicinity are cheap and good. The cottage is pretty and comfortable, the bathroom is particularly modern and nice, and the kitchen is well equipped and good for knocking up some of the local huge red peppers!
