Parking available nearby but no dedicated parking area (unloading outside is acceptable). You can park overnight/24 hrs in 2 of the car parks in Frome, one in the centre of town for £5.60 (5 minutes walk from the Cottage) and one on the opposite hill from the Cottage heading out of town for £2.90 (10 minutes walk from the Cottage). Walking distance from train station and bus stops.

The cottage is the perfect base for anyone wanting to relax and do very little, maybe just a stroll over the road for a cup of coffee or tea, wander up and down Catherine Hill exploring the unique shops, a lazy lunch, and everything is within walking distance - although be warned, Catherine Hill is quite steep and cobbled, for those with mobility problems.

There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants within easy reach of the cottage, and Frome has a good selection of food shops if you enjoy self catering.

Location description from owner

The England region

There is no shortage of places to visit once you have explored Frome itself, with Salisbury just 30 minutes drive away (just over an hour by train), Bath within 20 minutes (good train and bus services), and a good train service down to Weymouth on the Dorset coast.

We are surrounded by pretty little villages like Mells, Norton St Philip, Rode, Lullington and Laverton, Hinton Charterhouse - the list is endless! Lunch or supper in a village Inn just on your doorstep.

Longleat safari park and beautiful house are just 15 minutes drive away, exotic animals and fabulous architecture and grounds for a lovely day out.

Frome

Frome is an historic wonderful market town, it has something for everyone. Small enough to be friendly and welcoming, large enough to have plenty to offer in the way of coffee shops, bars, restaurants, cinema, theatres, galleries, shops, markets etc etc.

Catherine Hill is a little cobbled street full of charming independent shops, you'll want to visit every single one! It is quite steep so a stop here and there isn't a bad idea. It's like a little community filled with creative and like minded people, where everyone chats with everyone.

Start your day with delicious coffee and cake from the Paccamora Cafe at the top of Catherine Hill (almost opposite Catherine Hill Cottage) and you can even have dinner there on Friday and Saturday evenings, delicious if you like Italian food. No menu but the owner will tell you what she has prepared and you can choose. The owners are from Sicily and are passionate about their food. The perfect way to start or end your Frome tour!

The older parts of Frome around Catherine Hill and Sheppard's Barton are picturesque containing an outstanding collection of late 17th and 18th century small houses. Stoney Street which leads into Catherine Hill is a steep cobbled road climbing out of the town centre. Also in the centre of town, Cheap Street contains buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries and has a stream running down the middle. Frome has the highest number of listed buildings in a town in Somerset.

Catherine Hill and Stony Street are very steep, and as mentioned they are cobbled, so if mobility if a problem please bear this in mind.
