All bedrooms at River House have super king double divan beds which are divisible into standard single/twin beds. There are also 2 excellent quality double sofa beds, plus 2 sprung mattress portable beds which can be set up in the study of River House or the living room of Friary Coach House. One of the 5 bedrooms can be easily converted into a further living room or children's playroom. There is a laundry/utility room in River House, 2 cots for babies and 100% cotton baby linen and towels.

River House has a very large fully fitted kitchen with a kitchen dining area and also a Conservatory extension for formal dining. In the Summer there is a river terrace/herb garden leading from the kitchen for al fresco dining.

The enclosed gardens and terraces are entirely for the use of guests, in addition to private riverbank fishing (in season), there is also a large hot tub, 2 BBQ terraces with firepit, croquet and clock golf. Ancient woodland surrounds the 12 acres of grounds and there are many beautiful walks in the area.

A variety of activities are in the neighbourhood such as: horse riding; scenic walks; bicycles and canal barges for hire; electric bicycle guided tours; and clay pigeon shooting.

A 2 chefs are available for in-house dining (Italian and English) as well as daily housemaid service, if required. We also supply Spanish tapas for small drinks parties.

A barn is available as a party venue in the summer, by arrangement for special events/parties and a decorative marquee is for hire on the riverside lawn for private celebrations of up to 60 guests.

Longleat, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Iford Manor and the medieval weaving town of Bradford on Avon are all close. There is a small rare breeds farm in the surrounding 8 acres of parkland including Zwartbles sheep, Appleyard ducks and miniature Shetland ponies.

The Caretaker and Housekeeper live in Friary Cottage on the estate and are available 24/7.

Location description from owner

The England region

Friary is on the outskirts of Bath, within the Cotswold Conservation Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in a peaceful valley between the villages of Freshford and Hinton Charterhouse (in which parish it lies).

The village railway station serves Bath in under 10 minutes and the World Heritage City of Bath is only 15 minutes, on average, by car.

Freshford

The ancient village of Freshford (which largely lies within a Conservation Zone) has a well-stocked village shop and cafe with a modern Italian menu and organic supplies on sale, as well as fresh local produce.

The village is a pleasant walk from Friary alongside the River Frome. Longer walks, but mainly on the flat, lead to Farleigh Hungerford Castle, Iford Manor and Avoncliffe Halt Station and the famous Cross Guns Pub in the adjacent River Avon valley.

Longleat is 8 miles to the south.

The historic weaving town of Bradford on Avon is nearby and can also be reached by railway.

To the south lies Frome, better known now for its arts and music scene than its industrial heritage of milling, weaving, brewing and engineering.
