Description

Superb private family villa with garden and pool in a peaceful country setting, surrounded by mountains and within walking distance of the local village of Canada del Trigo (100m). Bars, restaurants, cafe's and shopping are all available in the quaint town of Pinoso (8kms away), and the bustle and beaches of Alicante are only 45 minutes distant.

The area of Canada del Trigo offers some fabulous countryside walks within the two Natural Parks close by, fishing, golf, bird watching, cycling and dirt biking are all available near by, and the typically Spanish towns of Sax and Onil both boast Moorish castles that look stunning by day and spectacular by night when floodlit.

The house is set in a large, landscaped plot with plenty of space for parking, and with additional adjoining agricultural plot bearing nuts and fruits in season. So whether you wish to get out and about to explore and immerse yourself in the real Spain, or simply chill by the pool with glass in hand listening to the birds, you couldn't find a more ideal spot than this.

Getting around

A car is essential for getting the best out of your visit to our area. The roads, in the main, are excellent and quiet, and access to the trunk roads is good. Buses are available from Pinoso but they only run once or twice per day in either direction.

Interaction with guest

Keys to access the villa are held in a Mastersafe key lock secured to the gate post. It is unlikely that anyone will be at the villa at the time you arrive. Mick the poolman will attend each Monday and for stays longer than 7 nights, a cleaner will attend at the weekend to change linens.

“Relaxing holiday”

The villa was well equipped and had fantastic views. The villa is located outside a lovely village and the locals are really friendly. There is slot is space around the villa which gave us a quiet relaxing holiday. The town of Pinoso is located 10 mins drive away which offers a range of facilities. We had a few queries which the owners assisted straight away and were extremely helpful.

“Beautiful property in the most relaxed setting”

My wife and I were looking for somewhere to spend a holiday to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a number of items on our wishlist. The place we chose had to be away from the tourist traps, but not too far if we chose to do a bit of sightseeing. It had to be quiet, private, comfortable, clean, secure, have a pool and also to have all the little things we might need on a two week self catering holiday. Casa Strathroy met every single one of our requirements easily. To crown it all, the setting is just gorgeous, being in the heart of an agricultural area which produces olives, figs and of course wine! There is a perfect sense that you are in the "real" Spain here, as you can observe the locals getting about their daily business, and interact at the local cafe-bar and bodegas, where the wine is delicious, and unbelievably inexpensive. The town of Pinoso is about a fifteen minute drive, and is a really friendly place, with all the shops needed for your daily shopping requirements. There is also a market two days a week selling all sorts of clothing and food and other items. My wife and I were perfectly happy to chill out beside our pool, enjoy the sun and the warm breeze, and in truth, do very little, as we enjoyed our most relaxing holiday to date. The facilities offered by George and Elaine, in their beautiful home from home, are just perfect for couples or families wanting to do the same.

Our party consisted of 4 adults. Myself and Husband, my sister and husband. We are all in our 50's. We were given very good directions to get to the villa. Upon arrival we were thrilled by the exterior of the Villa, but once inside, we were blown away with it. Both double bedrooms were equally good. one had en-suite bath room and the other had a shower room next door. As keen cooks, we were delighted with the well equipped kitchen, we even had satelite TV and were able to watch BBC1. Outside there was ample pool side chairs and loungers and badminton etc. plus 4 adult bikes with helmets which we used to go down to the village pub. The week we had, spain were having a heat wave, so it was in the high 30's-40's. One thing we think would benefit the villa (and guests) would be a retractable sun shade that extends over the patio area, as the umbrella was ineffective, due to sudden gusts of wind blowing it away, so the intensity of the afternoon sun was sometimes too much for us.

“A relaxing week in Pinoso”

This holiday villa is just outside Pinoso a typical Spanish village. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to families and couples seeking to enjoy an authentic flavour of unspoiled Spain. The villa is fabulously presented with every amenity you need, and the owners George and Elaine are approachable, communicative and responsive to any query you might have during your stay. Whilst we were there we enjoyed the Pinoso annual Fiesta, and visited Murcia and Alicanti which are both beautiful Spanish cities. There are bicycles to use, you can walk, you can pick fresh fruit from the trees, visit the many Bodega's and buy local wine, you can hang out with the locals at the little village bar. It is a wonderful place, try it for yourselves, you won't be disappointed.
