Glenwood Apartment offers the perfect highlands hideaway in which to relax and unwind. It is an ideal holiday accommodation for couples seeking a quiet romantic break or a those looking to entertain young children on a family holiday in Scotland.

Recently refurbished and awarded a 4 star rating by the Scottish Tourist Board, Glenwood provides stylish, comfortable self-catering accommodation set within the extensive grounds of The Highland Club, on the beautiful southern tip of Loch Ness. The Highland Club provides apartment guests with many of the amenities of a 5 star hotel: heated indoor pool, sauna & steam rooms, Club Room with full size snooker table and giant games, tennis court and The Boathouse Restaurant set right on the loch but still allows you the privacy and informality of your own home.

Glenwood (formerly known as Wicket View) is a comfortable 1 bedroom self catering apartment with King size bed. An additional double sofa bed in the living room allows it to sleep 2-4. A cot and high-chair are also included. The open plan living room has floor to ceiling windows with views across the manicured grounds and is kitted out with Bose iPod dock, stereo, FreeSat, DVD player and a small library of DVD's, books and games. The kitchen area is fully fitted with all mod cons and a large dining table. Guests often compliment us on the powerful shower over the bath and the incredibly comfortable bed!

Fort Augustus is often described as a 'Gateway to The Highlands' because its location affords such easy access to many of the 'must see' attractions on visitors lists, making Glenwood the perfect base from which to explore. The apartment is just 5 minutes walk from the charming centre of Fort Augustus village and less than an hour's drive from the city of Inverness.

Glenwood Apartment offers professional on-site support to all guests, courtesy of Clare & Gary Lee who, have a wealth of experience in the service industry. They will be there to welcome you and help you settle in and are happy to provide a brief run through of the extensive facilities on offer. A welcome pack and complimentary toiletries are included and there is also a very reasonably priced breakfast pack on offer should you require it.

Whether you want to while away the hours reading, walking and relaxing in the spa (heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room) or prefer more active pursuits, such as fishing, shooting, Nessie hunting or other action-packed activities there is something here to satisfy you during your stay.....

The Loch Ness region

Scotland has been named one of the top countries in the world to visit in 2014 by travel guide Lonely Planet and The Highlands are some of Scotland's wildest and most beautiful parts, offering spectacular scenery, with wide open skies, rugged mountains and deep lakes.

Wildlife is abundant and The Highlands are home to many amazing animals, birds and plants, including some of Britain's rarest; Scottish crossbill, redstart and tree pipit use the woods while red deer, golden eagles and peregrines range the hills here. Conservation by agencies such as Scottish Natural Heritage and the RSPB has ensured that visitors are able to appreciate the wonder of these animals and birds in their natural habitat.

The area has an extensive and fascinating history of clans, ancient battles and distinct traditions. Visitors travel from all over to sample the delights of the whisky distilleries, indulge in some ceilidh dancing, hear the bagpipes, taste some of the more unusual cuisine (anyone for haggis or cullenskink?) and view some of the famous castles and battlefields.

Fort Augustus

Lonely Planet 2014 suggests that visitors "take the high road to...Loch Ness...and fall in love with the landscape that inspired poet Robert Burns" and you can see why. It truly is a magical place.

The Highland Club sits on the edge of the charming village of Fort Augustus, right on the very southern tip of Loch Ness, allowing visitors the advantage of being able to explore both sides of this enormous lake with ease.....and there are many ways to do this: the South Loch Ness Trail runs 28 miles along the length of Loch Ness; ideal for walking or hire a bike from The Highland Club (for a small charge). If you prefer your views from the water you can jump on one of the numerous boats offering sight seeing trips or hire a private luxury cruiser or sailing yacht. Horse riding is another great way to explore.

The area offers fantastic opportunity for activities: Nessie spotting, shooting, stalking, fishing, falconry, golf, white water rafting, bungee jumping, archery....the list is endless.

If you prefer something more cultural try visiting a local whisky distillery, ceilidh dancing, one of the many castles such as Urquhart Castle, Cawdor Castle or Eilian Donan or one of the famous battlefields, such as Culloden.
